Welcome back fiction faction. Since last we spoke, some pretty cool stuff has been brewing. Some of which we’ll be talking about soon, and others… well, you’ll just have to hold tight a bit longer. For yours truly, the week started out in glorious fashion – watching my favorite collegiate combatants hang a sixteenth badge of honor on their heroic helmets.

Today we’ll be taking a lore-laden look at much more future-forward headgear as we preview some of the fiction behind a couple of the newest Mjolnir variants to hit the Wargames fold via the fast-approaching Infinity’s Armory content update for Halo 5: Guardians. Continue reading

Festive greetings, fiction fans! Today will be brief so let’s get right to it. Last week we announced our upcoming narrative guide, Halo Mythos: A Guide to the Story of Halo, coming in 2016 from our friends and partners at Egmont Publishing. We’re incredibly pleased with the level of excitement the lore community has shown for the possibilities within the book, and we can’t wait to get it in your hands next fall.

If you recall, last week I also said that I wasn’t sure if we’d have a normal issue come out today. What can I say, Halo community, I just can’t quit you. In fact, I figured that while I’m down in sunny Florida celebrating Christmas with the rest of the Grim clan, it was only logical that we give the lore legion a small gift of their own – one that’s been on many of your wish lists for Story Claus. So today we’ll be taking a quick look at the new alien ships seen in Halo 5: Guardians. Let’s get to unwrapping! Continue reading

ISSUE 55

Welcome back, lovers-of-the-lore! We’re hoping today ends up being a pretty cool one for Halo fans of all walks and interests, as many of you have likely already spent part of the day diving into many of the new features and facets of the Cartographer’s Gift content update for Halo 5: Guardians that we detailed in last week’s issue.  I know there are countless souls within our studio walls that are eager and excited to see what Halo’s wildly creative community comes up with as the boundaries of the mode get pushed ever further.

Today though, we’re going to talk a little bit about different project we’re also pretty excited about: Halo Mythos: A Guide to the Story of Halo. After sneaking it into the most recent episode of The Sprint, we saw fiction fans immediately begin to speculate about the nature of the new project – many wondering the same as one of our forum members, ChasCT2, who asked “Will the Halo Mythos book which is coming out next year be the next Halo Encyclopedia?” The short answer to that question is “no,” and it was important to us to make sure our loyal lore community had a clearer inclination as to what to expect. So if it’s not the “new encyclopedia,” what is it exactly? I’m glad you asked…

Halo Community Update: Cartographer’s Gift Sneak Peek

This is a reblog from Halo Waypoint: (My commentary in blue, of which I have a bit in this article)

BY B IS FOR BRAVO

It’s been a rather busy week here at the studio. This busyness has come in many forms, including a multitude of playtests that have offered insight into adjustments to existing experiences, gameplay on new upcoming maps, and future things I’d get in trouble if I talked about. Teams across the studio are nearing completion on the December update, and work on future updates is well underway too. Without delay, let’s take a sneak peek at what you can expect in the just-announced Cartographer’s Gift update – the next free batch of goodness coming to Halo 5: Guardians.

CARTOGRAPHER’S GIFT

The Cartographer’s Gift update was first shown at last night’s The Game Awards show, and if you missed the trailer, you can get a peek here. It brings with it a long list of updates, some of which we’ll start to talk about today and all of which we’ll be talking about during next week’s live stream (Friday, 12/11 at 3 PM PDT on Halo Channel & Twitch.tv/Halo.)

To kick things off, let’s take a look at some of the stuff we’ve revealed so far for this update, as well as some of the REQs we’ll be showing off next week: Continue reading

We’ve got a tantalizing little tease of the nigh-upon-us Halo: Shadow of Intent, a remastered Halo 101 video fresh out of the oven, some kick-started community captures, and new lore bits in the Universe section. Let’s go ahead and dive right in!

JAWBREAKER

canonfodder-12-3-15-90cfd88d99004a6a878b56925fcb581d

Since we first announced it back in March, Halo: Shadow of Intent has had fans incredibly excited for a variety of reasons, from its sought-after subject matter to its legendary author, Joseph Staten. If you have been following the glorious gruntmaster on Twitter, you’ve already seen a few character-constrained glimpses of the upcoming digital-first novella. After conferring a bit with Mr. Staten however, we thought it might be more fun to provide a slightly wider view for our ravenous readers… Continue reading

The fact that we are up to 50 issues in and still running strong is a testament to you, Halo’s diverse, passionate, and incredible fanbase. This week begins our first forays into what can be considered spoiler territory for Halo 5: Guardians. In the coming weeks, we’ll be looking closer at some of the scattered technology seen throughout the campaign and multiplayer playspaces, looking at how the Hunt the Truth Season 2 tied into the connected events of the universe, and yes, we’ll be talking soon about those Sangheili ships you’ve all be clamoring about. Halo Community Update: November Sneak Peek

This is a reblog from HaloWaypoint:

BY B IS FOR BRAVO

Over the past week, we’ve been playing with you, reviewing feedback as we tune existing experiences, and also preparing to deliver new ones. Today, we’ll talk about recent and upcoming game updates, as well as brand new content that will soon be on the way. Welcome to the weekly update, where we’ll talk about all of this and more.

PLAYLIST UPDATES & ADDITIONS

h5_sniper_banner-ea387d37b495417f84912429b1aa62db

Just a few hours ago, the latest Halo 5: Guardians playlist update went live. Thanks to your community votes, Shotty Snipers is available this weekend, and it’ll be around until the early morning hours (pacific time) on Monday. Jump into the playlist to enjoy a chaotic mix of long and close range combat as well as some increased XP rewards.

But this playlist update doesn’t stop there. We’ve made a few additional changes based on your feedback from this past week, starting with the removal of Orion from all playlists. We’ve pulled the map from matchmaking in order to patch some exploits and make some additional improvements before re-adding it to appropriate playlists. Next, based on feedback regarding map variety and rotations, we’ve added 15 additional map / game type combinations to existing playlists.

We’ve also made some additional matchmaking changes in today’s update. The first of these was an update to the “One or more members of your fireteam has high latency to the dedicated server” error message. Previously, this message blocked players in error, preventing you from playing with the other player(s), and we’ve now removed this restriction. Also, we’ve been keeping an eye on feedback from international players regarding Warzone matchmaking, and found that we were a bit too aggressive in filtering players during matchmaking. After reviewing the current parameters, we’ve made adjustments that will allow Warzone matchmaking to not only allow players to find matches quicker and easier, but also allow for improved matchmaking for players across the globe, thanks to updated searching parameters that also better prioritize players in your region. Today, thanks to your reports, we were able to confirm that the changes did indeed improve matching for players across multiple regions. We need to do some additional tests to ensure that the changes don’t negatively impact any playlists, so we’ve temporarily disabled the changes, and will be re-adjusting the parameters once these changes are verified.

In addition to the other items mentioned last week, the team is also hard at work preparing updates for things like Warzone Assault tuning tweaks (more on that with design next week), updating SWAT respawn time to 3 seconds and turning off SWAT friendly fire, CSR tuning tweaks, Seasons & seasonal rewards, actively monitoring and updating ban thresholds, and more. Also, we know many of you are excited to get you Teishin Raikou Armor set, but may not have received yet – don’t you worry. We’re tracking all eligible players, and will roll these out once we’re able to process all of the player data – there are lots of you. We’ll be taking about these updates and plenty more in the weeks to come.

But now – onto the reason many of you may have joined us today. The new stuff. Continue reading

ISSUE 49

canonfodder-11-6-15-336862f1d04946db9244f7ac3da880b8Welcome back to another edition of Canon Fodder. Last week we took a look back at the epic excitement that surrounded the launch of Halo 5: Guardians, and highlighted story-specific points of interest for those looking to catch up on the release-week festivities. This week we’ll be taking a look at some of the fabulous fauna found throughout the scattered locales of the Halo 5: Guardians campaign, and adding some more new background info to the Universe section. As we mentioned last week that the installments immediately following the launch would be still a bit tight-lipped regarding campaign-specific story, and this week will certainly fall within that trend. Next week however, that might be a different story… Continue reading

Weekend Playlist Updates and Additions

This is a reblog from Halo Waypoint:

By Bravo:

For the past week, we’ve been poring over your Halo 5 feedback across the entire game, tirelessly reviewing multiplayer data, and working on tuning tweaks as well as brand-new content. We talked a bit about just a few of the things that team is diving into and working on last week, and we’ll talk about even more about what’s to come in tomorrow’s weekly update, but we’re stopping by for a moment to talk about some playlist changes that will be made tomorrow morning pacific time. Let’s dig into the details! Continue reading

Canon Fodder: Locke and Load

This is a reblog from Halo Waypoint:

ISSUE 47
So, this is it huh? The last issue of Canon Fodder to know the emptiness of a world without Halo 5: Guardians. It’s been quite a journey so far, and at the risk of rampant overuse, we are indeed just getting started. There’s still an absolute ton to come over the next few days as we burn bright from the effects of launch-time atmospheric entry, not the least of which is our much-bandied about “Halo 5: Live” event. As we mentioned last week, Halo fiction fans will definitely want to tune in as there will be a huge selection of cool content that you’ll likely find particularly intriguing. Also don’t forget that the game launch will also neatly coincide with the final chapter of Hunt the Truth Season 2. Trust me, you aren’t going to want to miss it. Last week in Canon Fodder, we took an overview look at the upcoming campaign and found out some new info regarding our Sangheili friends (and foes). This week we wanted to take a closer look at the weapons you’ll be wielding throughout Halo 5: Guardians, as well as chat about the brand new ways the Halo Channel and Halo Waypoint will be supporting your Halo 5: Guardians experience. Let’s get started!

The Halo 5 Journey

By Bonnie Rossvis_id_top_banner-68bde37b28794b22b68a7d99a91b5c2b

After you ship a game, it is a natural point for reflection for the development team. When you’re creating a game like Halo, which typically takes three years to produce, it is not just a reflection of the making of the game, but of the journey itself. Who were we when we started? Who are we now? What did we do right? What could we have done better? What promises did we make to the fans? What promises did we make to ourselves? Continue reading

Halo Community Update: Prepare to Launch

This is a reblog from Halo Waypoint:

BY B IS FOR BRAVO –

It’s a busy June morning in downtown Los Angeles. As expected, exit 20B on I-110 Southbound is an absolute mess, and as a sea of cameramen and camerawomen litter the streets – including the exit ramp itself – in an effort to get inside the Galen Center, host of the E3 2013 Xbox Media Briefing. bs angel, myself, and a small crew of 343’ers put up with the traffic for a bit, but eventually ditch our cab and join the on-foot procession down the exit ramp to attend the festivities as onlookers. We tuck ourselves into the nosebleeds of the USC arena with press and industry folk, the large majority of which aren’t aware that the first glimpse at the next Halo title will be shown within the next 90 minutes. You may have watched from home – and got the first look at what was then dubbed, both internally and externally, “Halo Xbox One.” Chief’s cloaked trek served as a confirmation that development of a Halo title for the Xbox One was indeed underway. When the Halo logo appeared on-screen, and the roar of fellow Halo fans erupted throughout the arena, I found myself with goosebumps, and I’d bet many of you did as well. Continue reading

Fero to release unsanctioned Hutn the Truth trailer?

According to Janina Gavankar, the voice of Fero, from Hunt the Truth, she may be releasing an unsactioned (or is it really sanctioned…) Hunt the Truth trailer???

Here’s here tweet about it:

Interesting…I can’t wait to find out what this is about?!
