Halo TV show to start filming in October and now we know where!

The Halo TV series starts filming in October and now we know where it will start!

In an article on pursue news.com, we find that the Halo TV show is to start filiming this October in Budapest, Hungary.

No why Budapest? Seems a bit out of the way for an American production. Perhaps production costs.

Regardless, with the hype that “Ready Player One” gave to some fans for having Spartans in it, the time is ripe for a live-action adventure. It’s been too long since the 2013 announcement during E3 that a show by Steven Spielberg was forthcoming.

The big questions are, when will this take place and who will be the main characters?

Who would you want to play the characters of Halo in a live-action movie?

This article was prompted by a discussion thread with my friends at Halo Podcast evolved. Some of the actors chosen here were also chosen in that thread by myself and others.

Hypothetically, if a Halo live-action movie were to be made, who would you like to see play the characters? Let’s not get bogged down with which era of the Halo-verse the movie would be in. Rather, let’s talk about key players and some not so key players who might be in the movie(s).

Before we go forward, suffice to say that if the voice actors would be available for the roles, they at the least would be best for the voice if not the action part. As in the case of Master Chief, Steve Downes would virtually be a must for the voice, but could be played by another actor for the live-action part.

Master Chief: Voice Steve Downes, Action Daniel CudmoreMC actorsThese are easy choices. It would be hard to hear anyone else other than Steve as Master Chief. However, if he’s either not available or they’d want someone younger, then the voice actor for Chief in Forward Unto Dawn would be a good choice. Cudmore has enough of the height at 6’10” and again has already played Chief. He’s also known for his role as Colossus in the X-Men movies a character who is tall and armored (well in that he can make his skin steel-like).

Cortona: There is NO question who would do the voice here. Jen Taylor is the ONLY choice in my opinion. Anyone else just wouldn’t do justice to the voice/character, IMO. Cortana Actors v2As for the action part, Mackenzie Mason, the actress who played the motion capture part of Cortana for Halo 4 would be optimal. There are several women out there though who could play the role. Would 343 go for a more well known actor here? Jennifer Lawrence could fit that role. Heh, she’s already been half naked and blue as her role of Mystique in the X-Men movies. So it’s not a stretch for her. She would obviously bring start power to the physical part of the role. Question is, would she want to be blue and possibly half naked again? LOL Also, would she do the part without having the voice too?? Continue reading

Steven Spielberg’s Halo TV Show is STILL Happening!

This is a reblog from gamespot.com:

We haven’t heard much about Steven Spielberg’s Halo digital TV show in a long time, and it was nowhere to be seen during Microsoft’s E3 2015 briefing this week. But that doesn’t mean the project is canceled.

“We still are working on it,” [Bonnie] Ross told GameSpot this afternoon. “But nothing to announce at this point.”

Though Ross didn’t go into specifics about when we may finally learn more, she did provide a general overview for how Microsoft approaches transmedia projects. Continue reading

Halo TV show is NOT cancelled!

I found this post via a RT on Twitter from Ducain23.

A NEoGaf. Forum member makes a comment saying they think the Halo TV show by Speilberg has been cancelled.

Frank O’Conner, under his screen name there, posted this response:

Okay, so it’s not much, but it’s also not nothing!

So with this in mind, I 100% expect to see something of this from E3 next week!!!

Halo: Nightfall becomes a feature-length digital release on March 17

Several folks have notified me of this over the past week. Due to the plumbing issues and then Toy Fair this past weekend, I’m only just now getting to post about this. Thanks to all who sent me info/links for this.

The following is a reblog from polygon.com.

Halo: Nightfall, the Xbox live-action series set between the events of Halo 4 and Halo 5: Guardians, will launch digitally on March 17, according to a trailer released by Microsoft ahead of the digital launch.

The Ridley Scott-produced series of episodes is being combined into a single, feature-length release that will be made available to rent or buy from video-on-demand services and on DVD and Blu-ray.

Halo: Nightfall tells the origin story of Jameson Locke, a “a legendary manhunter and agent with the Office of Naval Intelligence.” Locke is also the playable co-star of next year’s Halo 5: Guardians and will be played by actor Mike Colter.

Is Neill Blomkamp still interested in making a Halo movie?

So of you many know that a Halo movie has been talk about for many years, yet has not come to fruition. Neil Blomkamp, the director of District 9, was one of the directors tapped for a Halo movie. While that has fallen short, it seems he still has interest in Halo.

Earlier today I came across an article on Blomkamp showing pics from his instagram page of a secret “Aliens” project. It’s not an official thing, rather something he was toying around with.  Continue reading

Halo Nightfall part 5 is out! And my thoughts on the series.

halo_nightfall_bulletin-banner-df610521691d4d8abd38cf5edc821fdc

The fifth and final part of Halo Nightfall is available to watch. I watched it very early this morning. Without giving anything away, I will say, I knew who would make it. It was apparent early on. Who stays behind, who dies. All of it made sense.

The issue with that is that it was too predictable.

Honestly, I don’t see how Nightfall plays into Locke becoming a Spartan. There is a sliver to get from this, but I won’t spoil that for you. Continue reading

Halo Nightfall: Sedra Colonial Guard logo

For those of you watching Nightfall, you know of the Sedrans. They have their own militia. Below is their logo. I was able to screenshot and clean up the logo in Photoshop.

It’s simple, yet the middle portion is a little mesmerizing.

SPOILER: Leaked cutscene from Opening Cinematic of Halo 2 Anniversary

I’d like to thank once again my friend Rythmic Warrior for passing on the link to this for me.

If you’ve watched the “Remaking of a Legend” video, and/or have read about Nightfall at all, this really isn’t a spoiler. If you haven’t though, then this will be a little spoiler for you, so watch at your own risk.

Regarding where the leak came from, this from Kotaku: The scene supposedly leaked during a Twitch streamer’s broadcast of the game when he selected Halo 2 Anniversary‘s “The Heretic” campaign map.
