The 5th Annual Halo Omnithon for Child’s Play

This year is the 5th Annual Halo Omnithon event in support of Child’s Play Charity.

What is Omnithon you ask?

Omnithon is a group that does gaming marathons to raise money for charity. A gaming marathon is where we play through a game or series of games, and stream it online while collecting donations for a cause we support, which in our case is Child’s Play Charity, which brings entertainment and hope to those in children’s hospitals. We’ve raised over $10,000 dollars with our prior marathons, and hope to raise even more going forward.

You can read more about Omnithon here and be sure to tune in here on Twitch.

I won a small Halo contest! (And you can benefit from it too!)

Gallery Books held a contest at the launch of the new novel, Halo: Broken Circle.

The contest was to like and comment on their Facebook page: If you could be any character in Halo lore, who would it be and why?

My answer was: Well, by far it would have to be Master Chief. He’s respected, he’s lucky, and he’s not just a spartan, he’s THE Spartan!

That last bit was paraphrasing Spartan Locke when he tells the Arbiter whom he is hunting.

Below is the prize pack that went to two lucky winners. There were close to 1,000 comments. I was one of two people who won! Continue reading

Announcing HFFL’s charity partnership with Operation Supply Drop!

OSD logo WI’m very happy to announce the HFFL now has an alliance with Operation Supply Drop (OSD).

Earlier today I talked with Glenn Banton of OSD. We talked about what OSD does and how HFFL can support their mission.

First thing I did was to sign up with their 8-Bit Salute Charity drive. Thus  HFFL now has an established ‘Team’, similar to the team we have with Extra-Life.

HFFL’s ‘Extra-life’ team fundraising drive!

ExtraLife 2014 logo

Last year I joined in the fundraiser for Extra Life, an organization aimed at helping kids in hospitals.

This year, I decided to make HFFL a TEAM instead of just me.

If you’d like to join in the fundraising drive, please check out HFFL’s fundraising page on Extra Life here: http://www.extra-life.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=donorDrive.team&teamID=16456

I literally sign up just before writing this article. Now while the event isn’t until Oct 25, donations are being taken now. You don’t have to be on the team to donate. Any donation is gladly accepted. Help HFFL reach it’s goal of $1,000 to help KIDS!

To donate, go to the link above, find the DONATE button (upper right corner). When prompted, please type in: HALOFANFORLIFE as the team name. This will allow your donation to go towards HFFL’s goal of $1,000 this year for Extra Life.

ALL proceeds go to the charity.

My very good friend Zach “The Halo Array” does the ALS ice bucket challenge.

Zach has been a friend of mine for 6 1/2 years. He’s also a co-host on HFFL’s on Spirit of Fire podcast.

He took the ALS ice bucket challenge and nominated 3 other HFFL folks.

Good on ya Zach! Tetra, Pens, and Cheese, you’re on the clock buds.

I’d do this myself, but I just don’t have the extra funds to donate, otherwise, I’d have done this weeks ago.
