And as its October 27 launch date barrels toward us like an oncoming Spartan Charge, we’ve prepped one of the biggest, baddest launch celebrations ever. Just in time for the release of Halo 5: Guardians next week, we are adding a collection of Halo-themed images to the Xbox One gamerpic gallery including The Master Chief and Spartan Locke. These new images are starting to roll out over the coming days but may take some time to appear in all Xbox Live regions. To change your gamerpic, go to Settings, About Me, Customize profile, Change gamerpic (this may vary if you’re a Preview Program member with the New Xbox One Experience).

It’s a busy June morning in downtown Los Angeles. As expected, exit 20B on I-110 Southbound is an absolute mess, and as a sea of cameramen and camerawomen litter the streets – including the exit ramp itself – in an effort to get inside the Galen Center, host of the E3 2013 Xbox Media Briefing. bs angel, myself, and a small crew of 343’ers put up with the traffic for a bit, but eventually ditch our cab and join the on-foot procession down the exit ramp to attend the festivities as onlookers. We tuck ourselves into the nosebleeds of the USC arena with press and industry folk, the large majority of which aren’t aware that the first glimpse at the next Halo title will be shown within the next 90 minutes. You may have watched from home – and got the first look at what was then dubbed, both internally and externally, “Halo Xbox One.” Chief’s cloaked trek served as a confirmation that development of a Halo title for the Xbox One was indeed underway. When the Halo logo appeared on-screen, and the roar of fellow Halo fans erupted throughout the arena, I found myself with goosebumps, and I’d bet many of you did as well. Continue reading

There are 10 different controller configurations to choose from in Halo 5 Guardians. Which will you choose??
With the addition of Smart Link, Issue Orders, and Tracking, Halo 5 Guardians needed to have a robust menu of choices for controller configurations. Your favorites have returned of course. However, they have arms additional buttons to press due to the add-ons.
Let’s take a look at each config (click to make graphics bigger):

Okay, so while there is a small countdown to Halo 5 here on HFFL, I found a link to this all too disturbing countdown starring 343’s own Frank O’Conner. Not that Frank is disturbing, but it’s how his fingers and hands are used to count down…

If you’ve digitally pre-ordered Halo 5: Guardians on your Xbox One before September 21 and are NOT using Instant On power mode, you may still have an incorrect “stub file” for the title, which is simply a placeholder file.
