Well, we’ve been waiting for and wanting a Halo XBOX One edition. It appears there will be one at San Diego Comic-Con. That’s the problem. Just ONE!
Well, if you’re to believe what is coming from nerdist that is.
There will be a Halo XBOX One edition along with 19 other special edition XBOX One’s given away at San Diego Comic-Con this year.
You’ll have to be SUPER Fast on your fingers as these will be given away via twitter. Here’s the info on that:
Xbox is going to be giving away 20 custom, collectible consoles to their biggest fans. In order to win, simply head over the Xbox Gaming Lounge (located at the Manchester Grand Hyatt Seaport Ballroom) and start ogling the custom Xbox One consoles. Once you’ve picked your jaw up off of the floor, snap a photograph of your favorite one, add a sweet filter if that’s your thing, then tweet it for your chance to take home the ultimate con exclusive: a custom Xbox One. Make sure that you follow @Xbox, tweet the photo of your favorite console in the Xbox Gaming Lounge, and include the hashtags #XboxOne and #XboxSweeps or your entry will be like so many tears in the rain: lost.
Now, to be straight on this, you must get a genuine photo of the console. So in affect, you have to be THERE at SDCC. Now forgive me if I rant a little here, but I’m QUITE OFFENDED that the consoles will be given away to “their biggest fans.” Give me a break, some of we ‘biggest fans’ can’t afford to go to SDCC. That doesn’t make us any LESS of a fan. Speaking for myself, I’ve got this blog, a podcast, a gaming group and several other Halo related things that I am responsible for. Also, what of the fan that can’t go, doesn’t have their own Halo community and such? Are they too any less of a fan? NO. So it’s really a slap in the face when these kind of hyper exclusives happen and not in the venue that really uplifts the fans. I know SDCC has been about exclusives for years and it bothers me every year as I see those con-attending vulture soak up those (often free) exclusives, only to jack up the cost and ‘scalp’ them on eBay.
Will this happen here? Possibly. The point I’m trying to make it (and it’s not mentioned in the article) is that, this would be okay, IF that console would eventually be made available to everyone.
I personally have been holding out for a Halo edition. My hopes are that there will still be one, even if it differs from the SDCC one. Have I said I hate exclusives though???

I don’t like convention exclusive stuff either but those aren’t going away anytime soon. In this case, its “custom, collectible” Xbox Ones. You’re angry that they said Xbox is giving them away to “their biggest fans” and yeah, I’ll have to agree that’s a bit aggravating to hear that since not every Xbox fan can get an chance to win them. It’s also probably an incentive to get people to go over and check out Xbox so Xbox can maybe get them to think about getting a Xbox One. There may still be a Halo 5 Xbox One which is kind of unlikely considering there have been no special edition Xbox Ones available to the mass market yet. But I’m also hoping there will be one…just have to wait and see…
