Halo Escalation #8 is out! SPOILERSSS!!!

Okay folks, this issue is a GAME CHANGER!!!!!

There are THREE big reveals in this issue.

First up, we get word of Spartan Black (team) is/was still operational, next Chief is reunited with BLUE TEAM!!!!!

And finally, the Didact has been confirmed to be ALIVE!

MY GAWD, this issue is HUGE in terms of those reveals. It’s sad that all of Black is dead. But now that Blue team has been reassembled….GAWD, I just can’t get past that!!! Will this mean that those will be the four playable characters in Halo 5 Guardians co-op campaign?

Can you just imagine that? Being able to play as Chief, Fred, Kelly, and Linda? HOLY SHI…. This is a game changer indeed. If that happens, it’s going to be the most exciting co-op team EVER in Halo history. FAR surpassing that of Halo 3’s co-op team.

How about that comment of Admiral Hood saying Chief could easily be promoted to Admiral? I say DO IT! I’d LOVE to call him Admiral. Hey, if it can work for that dude who played for the San Antonio Spurs, it can work for Master Chief.

The story in this issue was fantastic. having Chief in the book just absolutely made it worth getting. Black, Blue and the Didact? Well, those are icing, cherry on top, with sprinkles!

The art in this issue is one of if not the best of the series, of which I’m thankful for.

If you haven’t got this issue (well, I guess you’re spoiled on the story), GET IT!!!

  1. OMG! THIS IS LIKE HALO NOVEL TYPE STUFF! THIS IS AWESOME! I gotta get this one indeed. P.S. Go Spurs Go!

  2. Black Team is dead? Well at least we now know what happened to them. Hopefully Gray Team makes a return. And Master Chief an Admiral? I’m sure he deserves it but the problem with that is that I think people will be opposed to that idea. Many people know him as Master Chief or the Chief so the change may confuse people. Calling him Admiral also just doesn’t have the same ring to it as Master Chief :D. I’m not surprised the Didact is alive. It was assumed that he died but you can see that he fell into a slipspace rupture (I think that’s what that was) and in the epilogue he was talking. Also is there an error in the first picture of Blue Team? It says Kelly’s role is a sniper and Linda’s role is a scout when it should be switched around.

    • Yes, that is an error. A few others have pointed that out too. Ah well, Darkhorse was close. The rest of the issue is great though.

  3. While I enjoyed the issue, I felt rather gut punched when Team Black was killed off like this. They did not even get a single line of dialogue. Ever since 343 revealed their designations, that they were alive, and on Installation 03 through the Catalog posts, I was really looking forward to some sort of comic covering them or their inclusion in some other short story collection like Evolutions. I also am concerned that Blue Team may not be with us for long. In the original Halo Xbox One reveal, Chief is alone. That by itself might not be indicative, but then we found out about Agent Locke as well, who is now generally believed to be some one we will play as. Plus a lot of people are hoping to play as the Arbiter as well. That means we could have up to 6 different characters to play as. That might be a few too many. Still, I guess anything is possible.

    • Wouldn’t it be great then, if we could choose which alternate character to play? Different dialogue from each for a given situation. Certain missions would require certain secondary characters, beyond that though, the 3rd and 4th players could pick from the others.
I can’t wait to see how this might affect the H5G campaign.

  4. I have yet to pick up this series, but I read what you post and definitely will, even if I wait for the hardcover collection when its done. It looks awesome, especially this one.

My only issue is the page shown with blue team and their descriptions. They have Kelly and Linda’s roles backwards. If I remember correctly from the books, Kelly was the Scout because she is the fastest Spartan. Linda was the lone wolf and an artist with a sniper rifle. That’s just me nitpicking though.

    • Heh, no worries, it’s been pointed out by others too. I think Darkhorse has received many a ‘concern’ over the mistype.

  5. hmm, well i haven’t read it yet except for the 6 page preview on waypoint. but if it works out. This along with Halo: Nightfall, H2A, HMCC, and other 2014-15 releases could branch into the story of Halo 5 thus supporting ALL our hopes of blue team co-op and many other game changing moves. Like after Blue finds the Com’s A (if you read the comic you know what i’m taking bout) Then the Spartans find the portal. and in the Forerunner city, the Didact ready’s to welcome them to his world.(might be in the next comic) which means another missing Chief plus the disappearance of the rest of the strongest Spartan Team ever. Leading to Agent Locke, who was just a regular UNSC soldier but after a traumatic battle (Nightfall), was promoted and asked to join the spartan program. Or ONI’s lame excuse for the Spartan Program. So he is tasked with finding the Master Chief and Blue Team. While Blue Team is stuck wherever the Didact’s world is. Which based on the footage from Halo 5 Teaser… may be the Ark, or whats left of it. It could be the Forerunner capitol, another shield world, or a Halo Ring. Which means that the Reclamation Conflict reaches a peak where the Didact plans to use the Halo Ring to destroy Humanity, not compose it because he lost his ship and his tool. If He’s on a Shield World like all the other live Forerunners should be, he could be building a new army from all the constructs on the worlds and awakening the Forerunners to join his army. Or hiding on the shield worlds to clear Humanity with the Halo rings, or on the ark trying to rebuild it to build more halo rings. The possibilities are endless to where the Didact is hiding and doing. but whatever hes doing… Master Chief is in on it. So while Locke is searching the galaxy, he finds the Arby (Halo 2 Anniversary Announcement Trailer) he asks the arby where john is and stuff like that. Arby and Locke talk it out. Then Locke continues to look while just like everyone else in the galaxy, the good covenant starts looking for the chief and his team as well. So later Locke, the UNSC, and the covenant find where ever Didact’s hiding. The Spartans somehow get a message out to the rescue fleet. Somehow the bad covenant got in with the Didact, still working with him. And somehow that pushes Halsey into the story. Both with her UNSC revenge mission and John back in her life. Any how this comment is going way to far but the point is. This comic could be one of the direct lines to Halo 5 just because of how its connecting Master Chief and Blue Team to the Didact and his ever growing plan of destroying humanity. Woo, my fingers kinda hurt now. HaHA -OfficialTron117
