It was announced during Dark Horse’s “The Art of Video Games” panel at this year’s (2014) Comic Con International that Dark Horse would develop and manufacture a line of replicas based on the ships and vehicles which have appeared in the multi-million selling video game franchise, “Halo®!”
HFFL: YES! I wonder what scale, which ships and vehicles, what era(s)?
Furthering the arrangement between 343 Industries and Dark Horse, which has to date, produced two blockbuster comics series with canonical storylines written by writers from the video game franchise, this news is sure to excite gamers and collectors alike!
“We are excited to be working with the team at 343 Industries,” Dark Horse product development head David Scroggy said. “We have already had some fruitful planning meetings. We are discovering we have a similar vision toward crafting a well thought-out program of ship and vehicle replicas that will resonate with the Halo community.”
HFFL: Okay, so will these be die-cast? plastic model kits? Gah, I want to know now! LOL
“Dark Horse is already doing an amazing job bringing the Halo universe to life with us in the comics and we’re excited to partner with them in a brand new way to keep the surprises coming for fans,” said Kevin Grace, Halo Franchise Manager at 343 Industries.
HFFL: I concur with Kevin Grace here. Halo: Initiation and Halo Escalation are both Halo comic series worth picking up! Escalation is getting REALLY good right now, so it’s definitely a time to get into it!
While 343 Industries and Dark Horse are not yet ready to disclose which ships and vehicles will be included in the program, fans and retailers are encouraged to keep an eye on the news in the coming months for more information!
HFFL: Heh, you bet like hell I’ll be keeping an eye out for it. Man the possibilities of this line are enormous. I hope they stay away from mini figures though. Just make the vehicles. As to what I’d like to see from the line, I’d LOVE to see them make the bigger ships. The ones McFarlane couldn’t make and ones that Mega Bloks is either likely not to make or not make for some time. I’m fine with smaller versions from Darkhorse until Mega makes their own version.
So what ships would this be then? Here’s my list of wants (in no certain order):
Large Capitol Ships:
Infinity
Pillar of Autumn
Covenant CCS Cruiser
Covenant CAS Cruiser
Spirit of Fire
High Charity
Forward Unto Dawn (both classic and Halo 4 styles)
Ships/Vehicles:
Pelican
Hornet
Falcon
Scorpion
Wraith
Seraph
Broadsword
Longsword
Shortsword
Sabre
Banshee
Space Banshee
Warthog/Gausshog, Rocket Hog (Both new and old styles)
Ghost
Mongoose
Gungoose
There are more, but all of these would make for a GREAT line-up, IMHO.

Any of the large ships from both sides would be great as long as they in an affordable scale. MB has most of the small stuff covered, and I would unlikely to make more large ships unless they are part of the signature series. I agree with keeping away from figures and sticking with ships/vehicles
I think there is a possibility that there will be figures to show someone driving the vehicles or to show the scale of a ship and things like that (certainly not the super-articulated figures that Mega Bloks has).
Given that the ships are to be made in the same vein as the Mass Effect ships, it’s very unlikely there will be any figures. The scale of those ships does not permit for mini figures.
Cool. I would prefer it without figures anyways…just want a awesome looking, highly detailed ship to display which after looking at the Mass Effect ships you mentioned does have my hopes up.
Seriously want capital ships, covenent assault carrier, Infinity ect…
