Some major excitement from the Halo PAX Prime Showdown! Continual bracket revision and recap of matches.

The first round saw losing teams falling hard. TCM, VwS, eXcellence and Triggers Down advanced in the Winners bracket.

On to the next round of the winners bracket, the first match was TCM against a VwS team who had just come off a match against Darkest Hour.

VwS won the first match, Team Slayer on Lockdown, 50-37.
TCM started off the second match HOT! Chalkie had an amazing Overkill. Unfortunately that game ws called back as there were some technical difficulties.

There were some other games replayed throughout the day. The issue seems to have been within the game itself. Let’s remember though folks, this is a pre-release build. So this was accounted for.

With the NEW 2 game starting, CTF on Sanctuary, the game went back and forth. At 2-2 it became sudden death. VwS had some amazing stops against TCM, but faltered just enough at the end that TCM scored the winner flag cap.

The third match was King of the Hill on Lockdown.TCM took a commanding lead at 93-25 and then…tech difficulties again…DAMN. TCM looked like they would take this one easily.

The game is being moved to a side table. Unfortunately this means it was off stream. With that, I ended watching  for the day, having watched it, tweeted about it, blogged about it for 13 hours straight.

Day 2

In an exciting match, Triggers Down went 2-0 on the heavily favorited eXcellence. Game 3 started and eXcellence took the lead winning the game. Pistola played amazingly well getting a Frenzy!

However due to technical difficulties, the game had to be replayed.

So the teams reset. The replay didn’t matter to eXcellence who won the replay 3 game handedly.

Game 4 saw eXcellence again win with determination, forcing a game 5.

With that it was back to Team Slayer on Lockdown. Now THAT match was one for the ages as eXcellence went ahead at one point 27-5. Then Triggers down tried to mount a comeback. However, eXcellence was not having any of that. While TD did end up getting 27 more kills, it wasn’t enough to quell the fury that eXcellence played with, losing to them by a score of 50-32.

So eXcellence moved on in the winners bracket, while Triggers Down went to the losers bracket where they faced off against Reality Check, a rematch from the winners bracket from yesterday.

Triggers Down barely had a chance to rest as they moved straight into their losers bracket match with Reality Check. The game was close at the start, then TD opened it up, eventually winning the game 50-32 Team Slayer on Sanctuary.

The second game saw them again on Sanctuary, this time in CTF. Slaying was good, though you could tell TD had the upper hand. They scored the first flag cap. Suddoth 1 had a near perfect stop for TD’s second cap but came up just shy with a slightly high snipe shot to stop the flag carrier. TD won the match 2-0 (halting the game at the 15 minute mark according to tourney rules. (If a team is up on an opponent in CTF by the 15 minute mark, the match is automatically ended and the win awarded to the team that was ahead).

The next game was KotH on Lockdown. Goldenboy thought TD might have a tough time of it, but it became readily apparent that TD was going to take this one. At one point they were doubled up on hill points over RC. TD goes on to win and advance in the tourney. They will play the winner of the TCN/Darkest Hour match.

The match was VwS against the heavy favorites, eXcellence. And eXcellence did NOT disappoint! They won all three of the first games sweeping VwS who moves to the losers bracket. With that win, eXcellence moves into the finals.

Word coming in from off stream that TCM has defeated Darkest hour 3 games to 2. They move on to face Triggers Down!

The first game went to Triggers Down. The second game got VERY interesting and intense. The lead changed hands a dew times and with roughly 20 seconds left in the game it was tied. Neither team wanting to lose on one kill, they each played it a little safe. That lead to a tie game. So game 2 had to be replayed.

The end of the 2nd game two ended with a lag to Chalkie. However it was decided that the lag wouldn’t have made a difference to the end result of the game as TD had as marginal lead with little time left.

The third game was again KotH on Lockdown. TCM held the lead for most of the game and looked to have had it wrapped up. Yet, the last minute of the game, TD closed in and took over the lead. With just seconds left it was possible for TCM to take it back, but they fell just short. This gave TD it’s 3rd win of 5 games and moves them to the finals of the losers bracket against VwS.

Just so you folks know, I predicted this set-up in the bracket HERE.

VwSTriggers Down

The first game of the losers bracket finals was Team Slayer on Lockdown. The game was close the whole time. I think the lead wasn’t more than 5 at any one point in the game. VwS finished the game winning it 50-47.

VwS took the lead late in the match of Snipers on Sanctuary. They lead by as much as 7 at one point. In the final seconds of the game Goofy got really goofy and mounted the turret with one kill left…LOL

VwS was just too much for TD to handle in the third game, which was KotH on Lockdown. Not only did VwS have map control, they mounted an over 100 point lead that TD never even came close to overcoming.

VwS moves on to the Championship round against eXcellence. This WILL be tough for them to overcome. They lost agasint eXcellence in the winners bracket finals 0-3. I’d love to see them take the first match to bring this to a true FINAL.
