I casted the “Revival” PittCo Halo Tournament this past weekend.

This past Saturday, Sept. 6, I was the caster (commentator) for the “Revival” PittCo Halo Tournament. The tournament was broadcast by GameOnLLC, the very same business that I’ve hired for the pat two HFFL LANstravaganzas. Dustin, the owner of GameOn asked me if I’d like to cast this event and I readily said yes.

This is the biggest cast I’ve done so far with hundreds of gamers at the PittCo LAN, playing various games like Halo, CoD, WoW, Starcraft, Killer Instinct and more..

The Halo tournament was double elimination. Most teams were quickly assembled before the tourney, while one team had planned for this and it showed.

Each round of the tourney was a best of 3 games, except for the finals. The Halo of choice was Halo 3. Maps played on were Amplified, Onslaught, Heretic, The Pit, Guardian, and Narrows. Gametypes played were Slayer, CTF, KotH and one game of Oddball.

The team to watch was Brother Nature. This team had two local great players, on of which is Eddie Perez, aka Edamite.

Brother Nature easily breezed through the competition to make it to the finals. Their finals competitor team had one surprise gamer, that being Max Parker. Max is our local (Pittsburgh region) gaming reporter for the Pittsburgh Tribune. I was actually a little surprised that he had some skill. With as many games as he plays, I wasn’t so sure he’d be decent at Halo. While he did fine, the rest of his team though faltered in the finals and ultimately, Brother Nature took the finals in a best of 5 series with a 3 game sweep.

2014-09-06 18.27.36-cThe winning team, Brother Nature. Edamite is to the far left, Edure is the 3rd from left. Apologies to the other players that I didn’t get their names to report on.

The tourney itself lasted 3 hours. I had a great time (but for the headache I had at the time). The first game I casted was a little rough as I was doing it alone. Once I got another person casting with me, it got much better.

I hope to do this more often. I really enjoy casting games. It allows me to be closer to the action and deeper into Halo, more than normal.

  1. Went to the their Twitch Channel and saw some of the matches. Unfortunately, some portions of the steam are muted because of copyrights, but I don’t think I missed much. Nice job.

    • Thanks. I’ll get better the more I do these. The good thing was that I wasn’t nervous. It was just Amplified and Onslaught that I wasn’t so familiar with. Thanks again.
