Each week The Bulletin brings you the latest Halo news, game updates, and exclusive reveals direct from the source at 343 Industries. This week, we ask the fans at HaloFest to share their greatest Halo memories, and then discuss the future of Halo e-Sports and the announcement of the Halo Championship Series. We also get a sneak peek at the next installment of Halo: Nightfall, as well as get a first look at the Halo 5: Guardians Multiplayer Beta.

HFFL: Well, this makes it easier for me to post. I just won’t be able to interject my comments specifically at the mention of something interesting.

  1. Ooo! That first scene from the Nightfall sneak peek pretty much confirms it! The creatures on the Halo shard are lekgolo worms! That’s AWESOME!

    • Are you so sure? I thought that too. These may be mutated versions though. Possible due to the radiation from the Halo blast?

      • I’d say 90% confident. Their appearance in that clip matches the lekgolo appearance in the Halo 2 anniversary terminal # 8: “Covenant Record: Taming the Hunters”. That same terminal mentions that the lekgolo had ‘devoured’ a forerunner construct in orbit around a planet in their home system. If they can ‘devour’ forerunner tech somehow, then that may explain their presence on the Halo shard in Nightfall. It also showed the prophets using the worms to gain access to processing pathways within their forerunner dreadnaught. We know the worms can interface with tech to some degree as they are what powers the scarabs.

Frank O’Connor in a behind-the-scenes look at Nightfall said that the ring itself had a kind of malevolence to it. This may have been artistic talk, but it may also have been literal if lekgolo worms have gotten into the belly of the thing and interfaced with it. That would be pretty dang cool to see.

And you’re right, they may not be normal lekgolo. Maybe mutated from radiation as you say. Maybe they came into contact with flood spores somehow and were altered in a strange way (since they can’t be hosts like other sentient species). Gah! I can’t wait for Tuesday!

      • Hmm, imagine then if the Halo shard is now completely controlled by the lekgolo! Much better than a Scarab! I foresee this whole shard needing to be toss right into that sun it’s orbiting. Perhaps one or some of the human crew needs to stay behind to make sure that happens??? Gah,like you, I can’t wait for the next episode!!!
