And on with the pics! (Click pics to make BIGGER)
The packaging shows all of the figures included nicely. The description of each is on the back of the box, with a good pic of the figs displayed on the buildable stand. Here are the contents of the box. The 4X10 plates are on each side of the plastic tray, not seen from the outside, while the other black pieces are in a bag within the box. Here’s the stand completed. As many of you know, I don’t display my figures as such. So upon finishing the stand and photographing it, I disassembled it and put the pieces in my parts bin.We get a very nice selection of Covenant weaponry. I’m especially happy about the translucent Needle Rifle. The UNSC weapons get the same treatment with regards to variety. Again, it’s the translucent weapon (Spartan Laser) that I’m happy about. For the grunts shown above we get two of each. I’m only showing one of each for the purpose of these orthogonal views. I’m VERY happy that we’ve finally got the newer larger Grunt Minor in Purple! That rounds out the colors from Halo 3!There are 3 of the regular elite and one of the translucent one. Again, I’m showing just the one regular elite for the orthogonal views. As you can imagine, for those who have been following the blog for awhile, I’m so STOKED at having the translucent Purple Elite Minor. I’m just a HUGE fan of translucent toys! And this one is done in a very nice color. The first two Spartans looked at above are the Security and EVA Spartans. While I’m not a fan of the Security Spartan’s helmet, the figures are very well done.Next up above are the Scout and Recon Spartans. I’m a fan of the Recon Spartan and am glad this was included with this set.Above we see the ODST and CQB Spartan. This ODST is amazing. The paint application looks great! The CQB is my favorite helmet from Halo 3, so the inclusion of it in the set made me happy.Last but certainly not least are the two EOD Spartans. One (left) is fully painted, while the other (right) is translucent black. It’s partially painted. The pics don’t do it justice folks, that trans-black EOD is AWESOME! Another translucent figure I’m all to happy to add to my collection! So…who do you think will win this firefight? My money is on the UNSC!
Summary: The set is a quick build. Just the stand itself. A good variety of Spartans in the set are complimented by a nice array of Covenant army building figures.
Overall Rating: I give this set 10 out for 10 medals. This set has GREAT value. At $25 for 16 figures, this by far is one of the best EVER with regards to value. The cost per figure comes to $1.57 each. Folks, that’s HALF of what these figures normally go for!
So why did I give this a 10?
• Value Value VALUE! Again at $25 for 16 figures coming to $1.57 per fig…
• Excellent variety of Spartans
• Great selection of Covenant army builders
• wide variety of weapons for both Covie and UNSC forces!
Do I recommend it? Yes. But then, I think you got that already from my descriptions above…
If for some reason you haven’t yet bought any Halo Mega Bloks, this is a fantastic set to start with. You get a lot of figures for your money and can see the quality of them. Plenty of weapons and pieces to make a good display stand for them round out the set.
