MB Booster Frame-15 BOX
The box art is great as always. This one is set in space and shows the Booster Frame very nicely.MB Booster Frame-15 contents
Here are the contents of the box. MB Booster Frame-15 sorted
And the pieces are all sorted out. I’m still using my dinner table as my normal build space is being taken up by the Scarab I reviewed last month.MB Booster Frame-15 Steps 1
The first few steps of the build bring together the ‘nose’ and fuselage of the Booster Frame.
MB Booster Frame-15 Steps 2
Above shows some of the detail on the back of the ship (top portion of pic), as well as the underside (bottom portion of pic).
MB Booster Frame-15 Steps 3
This new version of the Booster Frame gets a much needed beefier upgrade to it’s engines. This really adds to the bulk of the craft. You’ll see this in effect late.
MB Booster Frame-15 Steps 4
Here the side mounted guns are assembled and added to the ship. They have multiple pivot points which allow for retracting and extending the guns. The bottom part of the pic shows the wings assemble and awaiting to be put onto the Booster Frame. Note that there should be 6 not 5 missile ports on each wing. That’s only an extra 12 pieces that I think should have been added for better accuracy.
MB Booster Frame-15 Seat
As well the pilot seat is attached. This is the only weak point in the design as it tends to pop off easily due to only have one point of contact. However, that is addressed later on in the build, which you will see.
MB Booster Frame-15 Wing deployment
Above you see the wings fully extended. At bottom, the wings are shortened to look as if they’ve retracted. This is actually done by removing the skinny part of the wings and putting back on the end cap engine section. I’ll likely just have it displayed fully extended.MB Booster Frame-15 Splaser
The sole mini figure weapon that comes with the set is a great one. It’s not just aSpartan Laser, but a nicely painted one.MB Booster Frame-15 minifigure
The mini figure that comes with the set is fantastic. It’s Spartan Fred S-104, part of Master Chief’s Blue Team! This figure is fantastic in sculpt. Better than that is the detailing. The knives in the shoulder armor are painted. As well, the number 104 is printed on the chest and both sides of the helmet. The grey color has a slight hint of blue to it. That may be hard to see in the photos though. MB Booster Frame-15 leftovers
The left over pieces. Not many…MB Booster Frame-15 fuel tank
Not much I could do with them. This is about as close to a mini Booster Frame as I could come with those pieces left over.

Now, getting back to the pilot’s seat. If you are display/playing with Fred in his seat, then I highly recommend you put him in as follows. Take off the seat assembly, attache Fred’s hands to the steering column. Next, attach him to the rear mounted pivoting pin (with the seat still in his clutches). From there, carefully pivot the pin down to where the seat can reattach to the ship. Once this is done, He’s fairly locked into place. That rear pin really adds to the stability of this area of the Booster Frame.MB Booster Frame-15 minifigure positioning

Summary: The set is a fairly quick build. With a good amount of pieces (277) for the price of $20, I found the value to be excellent! The mini figure is above average for the new style articulated Halo figures and the painted Spartan Laser adds a good contrast of color to the overall set.

Overall Rating: I give this set 9.5 out for 10 medals. This set has great value as mentioned above. I go with the standard 10 cents per piece rule. At that rate, the set could have been priced at $27-28. Instead we got a very nice break on the price at $20. There are a couple of small issues with the set that keep this form being a perfect 10. Now, by comparison to the previous Booster Frame (which I reviewed HERE), this new version is a definite improvement. In fact superior in every facet of the build.

So why did I give this a 9.5 instead of a 10?
• Weak build for the pilot seat makes that unstable.
• There should be 6 missile ports on each wing, not 5.

Do I recommend it?  Absolutely! Whether you have the old version or not, this new Booster Frame is very much worth the cost.

If you have any questions about this set that I didn’t cover in the review, please do not hesitate to ask me. Either reply below or e-mail me at [email protected]

  1. Ever since I watched ‘The Package’ from Halo: Legends the Booster Frame has been my favorite vehicle. I bought the old three set from Mega and built the original one they put out and as soon as I saw the review I placed my order for the new one. Cannot wait to get my hands on it! Now if it would only end up in the game….

Great review as always Sal. Keep up the great work!

    • Thanks fellow Sal. I knew you’d love the news of this. I found mine at Target locally. Perhaps you should check yours…
