Okay, I KNOW you folks are starved for my Mega Bloks reviews form Toy Fair. While I’m editing the photos, I thought I’d at least get this started with some general shots. After this I’ll be posting several articles on Mega Bloks stuff from Toy Fair.

First off, me standing by the Mega Wall at the Mattel booth. This particular booth was Buyer only…well, except for a certain exception…Intro to Mega

This next photo show Andrew “Sparky” Sparkes, Vice President, Preschool & Girls Brands, MegaBrands, formerly Boys Brands toys Mega Brands at left as well as the director of Matty Collector from Mattel at right. Most apologies that I can’t recall his name, ATM. Sparky-Mattel
In the above photos, Sparky talks briefly about Mega Brands joining with Mattel as well as just some of the products they are coming out with this year. Beyond Halo, Mega will also be producing Call of Duty, Assassin’s Creed, Spongebob, Despicable Me, and Terminator lines, to name a few of their licenses. I’ll have articles/pics of those other licenses after I post all of the Halo stuff.

Below I’m talking with one of the Mega Brnads reps about the new line of toys scheduled for the Fall release this year. One thing to note, we WILL be getting Halo 5 toys BEFORE the release of the game itself!!! For that I am excited.
Me talking with MB rep

I’ll have lots of more close up pics of the various sets and figures you see in that pic above.

I took a bit of time asking Sparky questions about the Halo line. Heh, to take from the pic above, I cropped the photo of Sparky. This was his answer to many of my questions as he wasn’t allowed to divulge certain specific information at this time.Sparky MEME
“Um, I don’t know.” Or, “I can’t say.”

Here are some of the questions asked of the Mega team (not just Sparky):

HFFL:Will there be different color Drone (Yanme’e) micro action figures?
MB: Yes, there will be both a red and a green version in the upcoming Firebase set.

HFFL: YES!!! So not only will we get 2 more variants (we’ll just need the blue version after this), we are also getting a super cool Firebase. You can see that above, but I’ll have more pics later to show that have better detail.

HFFL: What’s the signature series set for Halo this year?
MB: We can not say at this time. However, the Terminator Bust will be the signature series set for that line, slated for 2016.

HFFL: Will there be a pick a blok website (similar to Lego)?
MB: We definitely know of the desire for that. With Mattel we now have a better and broader outlet for this. More to come later. (This is paraphrased, so don’t quote them exact on this)

HFFL: More army building multipack sets coming?
MB: Yes indeed. Check out our booth.

HFFL: I did and they are awesome. Again, more pics to come…

HFFL: Can you say what exclusives there will be and to which stores?
MB: Can’t specifically say which sets, but can say that the exclusives will follow the same pattern as years prior. Target, Toys R Us, for example.

HFFL: So…about those set names leaked by ToyWiz?
MB: Those were just code names we used. We knew they would get leaked, so we were careful to not use the actual names.

HFFL: Well, it was fun speculating on those names anyway.

HFFL: Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions.
Several from Mega Brands in some form or another: You’re welcome and thanks for supporting our toys for many years.

  1. Is there going to be a Kat figure, because (I’m quoting Emile) “I’m really missing Kat right about now.”

    • No word on Kat. So far it doesn’t look like it, but then the exclusives haven’t been shown yet.

      • I’m going to be disappointed if they do not release a Kat figure, because they made the rest of Noble Team. Of course they never had an official Noble Six, but that was easy to find a lookalike. I know there was a similar figure, but it’s not the same.

      • I hope so too. Considering Mega Bloks has made a Palmer figure, it’s not of the possibility to get an official Kat figure. However, the robotic arm and small shoulder pads may present a problem with the new removable armor system that Mega has created. I hope not though.

  2. Their answer to your Sig series question seems like they might be hinting at a bust for the next Halo Sig series. Probably be a long shot but its a thought.

    • No, I think it’s a ship. Though, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was Spartan Locke. Everything seems to be trending that way.
