Halo Online!!! (for PC) Yes, it is real!

Yesterday I got word of this through my good friends at Podcast Unlocked.

For now the game will be beta tested only in Russia. Why Russia? Anyway…
Here is the original Russian trailer for it followed by a neat super bounce vid on the Turf remake map, then followed by IGN’s ‘Rewind Theater” of the Russian trailer, detailing some cool bits and easter eggs.

The game looks pretty good. Parts of Halo 3 and Reach, with a mix of Halo 4 tossed in as well. As you can see there is a TON of customizing options, not only in the armor, but in the weapons as well. Now, I know some are going to say that’s not Halo. No, not the classic Halo, when it comes to weapon customization. However, that element brings it more on par with other FPS games out there.

So now some questions are:
• When will this be available world-wide? If at all. (It would be a real travesty if it were only in Russia.
• Are the customization options something that is indicative of what may be coming to Halo 5 Guardians?
• Will there be a version of this for the XBOX? (If not in Halo 5 Guardians)

What do you think folks? If this comes to PCs worldwide, will you play the game?

If I had a PC, I can say without a doubt I’d play it.

  1. This looks awesome! I think it’s about time they brought Halo back to the PC, game wise anyhow. As for the customization things with the weapons, I like it. I think it opens up a lot of doors as far as strategy, and game play style customization. I do also see how some would rather stick to the classics though. Personally I don’t see why there can’t be a mix of both, as long as it is balanced and does not lose the classic feel of the previous games.

  2. Russia only, eh? Hmph.

    I guess i’d need a nice computer first though………….

  3. A lot of free to play games have been successful in Russia. That is probably why the beta is in Russia. Also, as said in a Waypoint post, 343i wants to “explore new ways to welcome new fans to the ‘Halo’ universe”.

Anyways, I don’t see any reason for this game to be released on Xbox One (or even worldwide) considering we already have the core Halo games. It will only split the player base especially since this game is free. If it does release worldwide though, I’ll definitely try it.

    And you don’t have a computer? o_O

    • It’s only free to play for the beta. I’m betting that that might change if it were to come to worldwide market. There are several elements to this that I’d live to see incorporated into the Master Chief collection. Or better yet, give it to those of us who got the Master Chief collection before the ‘deadline’ for the free stuff. I’d certainly welcome this.
As for a computer, of course I have one. It’s a MAC.

      • No, it is a free-to-play game. If you reread the Waypoint post, it says “an all-new, free Halo multiplayer PC experience”. Other sources also confirm this.

Anyways, like I said though (for the reasons listed in my previous reply), it is doubtful that this game will release worldwide and/or console. It seems 343i only made this game to appeal to gamers in Russia. Furthermore, 343i says that the game was built from the ground up for PC (PC is like the main gaming platform in Russia) and that the game is tailored for Russian gamers. It is also interesting to note that one of their partners for this game, Saber Interactive, has its development offices in Russia.

And you can totally play PC games on a Mac. Look it up online. There are plenty of ways.

      • Wilson, did you read where I said it MIGHT change? I didn’t not say it was going to change. With corporate greed so high these days, I just wouldn’t put it past them to charge for this game eventually.
As for playing games on MAC that are PC, yes, of course I know you can. I do not want an emulator on my MAC. As well, the security issue with Russia is something I take seriously and do not want my computer compromised.
You don’t think I’m a little more knowledgeable than that???
