HUNTtheTRUTH: Episode 03 Critical Condition

Conversations with retired military paint very different pictures of John. More questions arise about John’s home planet and his involvement in a violent training incident. The cracks in the official account widen, and Benjamin is drawn in.

Have a listen.

Okay, before you read on, I am letting you know that I’ll be discussing this episode and there are spoilers. So, if you haven’t listened to it and don’t want to yet know, then stop reading this article, until you’ve listened to this episode.

Alright, from here on out, let’s talk about HTTe3: Critical Condition.

Finally we are getting some truths to come out as we know them. Deon Govender was lying about boxing. Ellie herself says there was no boxing on Eridanus II and that is backed up by other colonists. From here then, we should make the logical conclusion that Govender is lying about everything regarding John. It seems more and more that he’s a ‘plant’ by ONI (Office of Naval Intelligence) to reshape the history of the Master Chief. This also includes the retired fellow, Walker. Walker tells accounts of John when he was 16. Problem is, John was well into the Spartan program by then and was actually in the field on ops. He was FAR more advanced than the basic training Walker claims to have spent time with him in. As well, the statement by Giraud that Walked claimed to have lived (trained) with John for months is an outright lie. All of the Spartan children lived and trained together for years. Those who made it through the augmentation process continued to live and train ttogether for several more years to come. From there, they wer sectioned off into fireteams. So, yeah, don’t believe a word that comes from Walker.

The account by the ODST (Anthony Petrosky, if I heard his name correctly) of the fight John had with four other ODSTs, killing two of them comes right out of the novels. Whew, I’m breathing a sigh of relief now. It looks like 343 is sticking to the preestablished lore of Halo and John’s origins. Oh, there is something here I want to make note of. There is indeed a person named Anthony Petrosky in real life today. In fact, I knew of his name as he is an associate dean of the school of education and the University of Pittsburgh, where I happened to have worked for almost 10 years. Don’t believe me that he exists? Please by all means, check this link.

Seems quite a coincidence that I worked there and knew of this man and here he is popping up in Halo. Perhaps I should give him a call later today? anyway…

Should the HTT campaign keep going like this, then for those of us steeped in the lore of Halo, it will be a retelling of the story, but from a different viewpoint. For those not as knowledgeable, they will be in for a treat as they discover more about John and his becoming the Master Chief.

Meshach Marady, the truther, is a new name to Halo. It could be a faux name to cover up who the real person is. Still, I’d like to find out more about this person.

Thomas Wu, the last person questioned in this episode is obviously lying as well. The remark about havign peace of mind for his family seems like soemthing right out of ONI. Perhaps Wu was a criminal and ONI offered him a deal to play along with this story in exchange for his family being taken card for?

Folks, if you haven’t read the novels yet, I HIGHLY a suggest you do. Specifically, check out “Halo The Fall of Reach”, by Eric Nylund. This book goes over the abduction of John, his early and teen years in the Spartan Program and more. Should the HUNTtheTRUTH campaign be only bout Cheif’s origins, this book will have virtually all the answers you need to know.

Though I still suggest you pay attention to the HUNTtheTRUTH campaign as there may be new things introduced and/or at the least, you’ll be able to hear/read things from Ben Giraud as he discovers them in his quest to Hunt the Truth. Likewise, you be ahead of the game then and know what is a lie and what is the truth, as well as, who may be doing the lying.
