HUNTtheTRUTH Episode 8: DRIP, DRIP, DRIP

FERO drops a bomb that ripples throughout human-occupied space, calling the Master Chief’s allegiances into question. Did the Master Chief do that? Or are there more nefarious elements at play?

This image has been haunting me ever since I first saw the video from Biko. I feel like the Master Chief is looking right at me. The incident report was bad, but this makes it so much worse.

SPOILER TALK

HFFL: Okay, if you haven’t listened to the episode yet, then don’t read further, unless you don’t mind being spoiled on the info within. Below are my thoughts.

Fero…hmm, that voice. Now that she’s cleared it up a bit more, does it or does it not sound like Cortana? Maybe Halsey, but I’m leaning more towards Cortana. Certain speech patterns within if not matching exactly are SO very similar. It would be hard for another voice over actress to replicate that.

As to the Chief barging in on a political conference, killing people and making off with aliens… While that might seem far fetched, I can actually see this part being real. Allow me to expound on that thought.

IF this is true about Chief, the connection of outer colonies and aliens is something he isn’t accustomed to. Seemingly siding with the aliens, whomever and whichever they may be also seems odd. However, given Chief’s ‘relationship’ with the Arbiter, it’s not totally out of the realm. Perhaps Chief’s knows something that has not yet been revealed to we listeners. What might that be?

If you take a look at recent novels (Kilo-5 trilogy) as well as the Dark Horse comic: Halo Escalation, some of the answers are right there before you. In these we learn that ONI is playing both sides of the fence with the remnants of the differing factions of the Sangheilis. That are funding both side in order to have those sides destroy each other. This leaving the victor weak, making it easy for the UNSC to sweep in and mop up. Is that something the UNSC top brass really wants?

So how does Chief play into this? Well, if he knows of this ploy by ONI, then it’s also likely that if a peace agreement were signed, that deal would go sour quickly due to the hands of ONI intervention (secretively of course). They could easily create a situation where one side attacks the other. This would spark the UNSC to action. As to which alien faction is being courted for peace, that remains to be seen. However, it’s much more likely to be the Arbiter’s forces than Jul ‘Mdama. This because of (in part) the relationship between the Chief and the Arbiter. If Chief knows of this plan, then what he is doing is stopping another war before it even begins. yes, at the cost of a few humans. But to this end, ‘the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few’. Should this secret plan by ONI then be revealed, which Cortana (er..Fero) seems to indicate will be exposed, ONI may once and for all be taken down. So her statement about sacrificing Chief in the short-term is completely true, while also showing his vidication.

Yes, you know I like to make wild conjecture with these sorts of things. However, in this particular instance, I don’t think I am far off the mark. At least the viability of my guess is plausible and not far out.

What do you folks think?

  1. unless the people who chief killed were actuelly causing harm, i dont believe he killed them. A hero doesnt kill a few people to save everyone, that is not a moral thing to do. If they make chief a murderer im not buying halo 5. Kinda upsets me all the hate he is getting, im sure this is just a misunderstanding.

Best episode so far, loved it. Wasnt expecting hunt the truth to be so intense.

    • Well, it could be that those human killed were part of a cover up. John, “heroes” have had to kill in war for the greater good. If his killing a handful of people saves billion of lives, it’s a trade off worth taking. If he doesn’t kill those and then billions die because he didn’t take action when he could have, that is so much worse. There are specific examples I could post, but you really only need look at history. In fact recent history will suffice. Now, was it really Chief? I think so, yes. Why? Because Fero states that sacrificing Chief in the short run is better on the long run. (To paraphrase) She seems to know for sure, it’s Choef. Also, one question I’ve been asked that I’ll answer here. Why wouldn’t Chief kill the aliens instead? This is VERY simple to answer. Had he done that, his action would have most certainly started or precipitated another human/alien war. One for which the UNSC is still not quite yet prepared for. By killing the humans, the average human is going to blame Chief, not the aliens for the killings. This would stop a war before it starts and lay blame on just one person, Chief. Once the truth comes out, Chief will be exonerated. Again, this might be a tad far fetched, but I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility.

  2. I’ve been feeling ill the past few days, so I just listened to this.

And man, what an episode it was! Very well done. I can’t wait to hear about the reasoning behind the chief’s “incident.”

I wonder what the Rebel Leader (A.K.A FERO) is planning………
