The graphic design of the packaging has changed again. This time we getting a Master Chief on the left side advancing inward. Much of the underlying graphics are dark, while on the back display a ruddy gradient as well. This would be consistent with what is expected to be a darker story in Halo 5 Guardians.MB Promethean Warriors BOX

Here are the contents of the box.MB Promethean Warriors Contents

The biggest bag of pieces has the following within. MB Promethean Warriors Big Bag Contents

Here all the figures have been built and the rest of the pieces sorted out. Take care as there are plenty of translucent pieces, especially the clear ones without any color. Those might be easily lost of you drop them and they happen to roll under some furniture.MB Promethean Warriors Sorted

Okay, let’s get on with the build. The only two main things to build are the Forerunner construct and the small land mass pieces.

Here is the start of the construct. BTW, I have a very good idea of what this is. However, since this may change for Halo 5 Guardians, I’m going to hold off on exactly what this may be. Hopefully 343/Mega will shed some official light on this.MB Promethean Warriors Construct Steps1

After building the base structure of the construct, you add on it’s articulated arms. These are actually meant to be floating pieces. But as we do not have the technology for that with building bloks at this time, Mega has chosen to represent this as clear pieces, which makes sense and to me, doesn’t detract from it.

The arms can be moved around into varying positions, so have fun posing it!MB Promethean Warriors Construct Steps3

Here the ground pieces has been assembled, with the construct resting over top of it. You don’t need to display it this way. In fact, after the build, I disassembled the ground pieces to await use for a larger diorama I’m working on.MB Promethean Warriors set piece

Here are the weapons included. A Binary Rifle and two Pulse Grenades. There is also a Suppressor, though that is usually attached to the Knight included.MB Promethean Warriors Weapons

Views of the figs included. I chose not to show the Watcher here as it’s pretty standard other than the red clear inner parts on the ‘wings’.

The models of the figs is no different than previous versions. The only major difference is the red color instead of the game accurate orange or blue. While initially when I saw these displayed at Toy Fair I thought I wouldn’t like the red, I’ve found that now being able to examine them up close in my hands, the color actually looks quite nice and they fit in with the rest of my Promethean army quite nicely. So don’t let that color detract you from getting the set!MB Promethean Warriors Fig ORTHOS

And finally, the figs with the construct and land pieces. This makes for a terrific Proethean squad! MB Promethean Warriors FIN

Summary: The set is excellent for army building and there bios virtually not building time to this.

Overall Rating: I give this set 9 out for 10 medals. This set has excellent value. At $15, you get a huge Knight, 2 crawlers a Watcher and a build able Forerunner construct with articulation, not to mention the land pieces. Worth it to me, even though the piece count is 94 and doesn’t follow the normal 10 cents per piece rule.

So why did I give this a 9 instead of a 10?
• The only change I would have made would have been to switch out the Lancer Knight for a regular Knight instead. There are far more regular Knights in the game than Lancers and the only way to get one of those to date (in the orange striping) was from the now discontinued Cauldron Clash set.

However, I think I know WHY the Lancer was included instead. The previous Lancer (in Orange) was noticeably darker in it’s steel/silver armor bits. This Lancer corrects that discoloration.

Plus, this doesn’t mean we won’t see another Promethean set down the line with a regular Knight in it! So we can hold out some hope.

Do I recommend it?  Yes! This is a great way to build up your Promethean army quickly and relatively cheaply. As I mentioned above, don’t let the red color dissuade you from getting the set. The figures look great and again for the price it’s REALLY easy to army build these!

  1. I wasn’t sure if I would be getting this, but seeing some better pictures I will pick up at least one. I also wish it had been a regular knight, but that’s a minor complaint.

I’m pretty sure I have a good idea what the construct is, but since your holding off, I’m not sure if it’s appropriate to throw my theories in the comments.

Great review, Sal. It changed my mind on this set, and you can’t ask for much more than that.

    • Thanks Kevin, much appreciated. Be sure and pass that on to Mega Bloks. I know they like to hear that kind of stuff.

  2. Great review Sal!

This set is terrific for army building! I’m glad that Mega decided to include an alpha crawler instead of two normal ones.

I’ll be picking this up when I get the chance.

    • Thanks Jared. Yeah, I didn’t mind the Alpha either. The way I’m hoping it goes is that we get another Promethean Warriors set. The next one would include the regular Knight, a Snipe Crawler, regular Crawler and a Watcher. Though with that Watcher, it would be great to have one with the wings folded back as it can do in-game. That would certainly be a set I’d buy 3-4 of.
