A bud of my posted this link up recently. It got me nostalgic for the game.
If you’ve not seen this vid before, it’s of the E3 2007 demo for Halo Wars. The game released a little differently than what was shown.
I hope you’ll agree with me that this video is excellent. The game itself was fantastic. I’ve played it off and on for all the years it’s been out. Even named my podcast after the main UNSC vessel in the game, the Spirit of Fire!
Note the similarity to the Actual Spirit of Fire logo? It was quite deliberate. And don’t worry folks…as you all know, I make no money from my site as well this is fair use under Microsofts rules regarding the Halo franchise.
Well, anyway, I tired to play it the other day and noticed my disc got a scratch in t. I tried to fix it of course. Couldn’t get it to work. sigh. Looked around locally for a copy of the game, no one seems to have it in stock. This stinks because I’ve enjoyed this game for so long.
If you folks didn’t know, Halo WAY WAY back in the day was going to be an RTS game. But as it was titled…it evolved into a FPS. After roughly 8 years we finally got a RTS Halo game with Halo Wars I was so excited by this. Having played RTS games on the computer, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this. Of course I bought the collectible tin edition.
Also if you didn’t know, Blur, the studio that did the cinematics for Halo 2 also did the cinematics for Halo Wars. Nowonder those looks so darn good and hold up to this day!
Well, I hope you enjoyed my little retro moment for Halo Wars. We can only hope that new day Halo Wars 2 will be made.
WOuldnt it be awesome if that was announced at this years E3?

I would love to see a Halo Wars 2. If it happens I would imagine it being released next fall.
That would certainly make me a very happy Halo fan (for life…).
I love Halo Wars! I play it to this day. Halo makes a terrific universe for the RTS genre!
Also, I didn’t know that Halo was originally going to be an RTS. I always thought that it was originally going to be a third-person shooter. Thats an interesting fact Sal………
More info, it was actually going to be a MAC game. Not even a console game at all. But then, Microsoft swooped in, got it and made it the XBOX franchise game.
