XBOX One backwards compatibility question.

Do you think the XBOX ONe  was planned to be backwards compatible? Or did the failed launch of the Halo Master Chief collection spur Microsoft to make this happen?

The HMCC hasI just like to know which one it is only been out for six months. Do you think that’s enough time for the Xbox engineers to have developed backwards compatibility?

I am curious about this myself. I think either is plausible. I’d just like to know which one it is.

The reason why it could be because of the HMCC is that Microsoft didn’t want to have another title from the 360 failed to launch on the XBOX One.

  1. I’m sure the Xbox One had the capability to be backwards compatible from the start and it is only now that the Xbox team found a way to make it possible. If I remember correctly, there were talks about the possibility of the Xbox One having backwards compatibility way before the launch of Halo: The Master Chief Collection. I mean we are still getting remasters of games. A great example would be another Xbox franchise: Gears of War. The Gears of War Ultimate Edition was just announced for the Xbox One so your theory about Microsoft not wanting another title from the Xbox 360 to fail to launch on the Xbox One doesn’t seem probable.

Xbox is bigger than just Halo and having backwards compatibility is a great selling point for the Xbox One (especially since a lot people jumped from the Xbox 360 to the PlayStation 4) and keeps fans happy.
