It’s been a little while since I’ve had the opportunity to review a McFarlane Halo action figure. Now thankfully, the first series of the Halo 5 Guardians McFarlane figures have started hitting retail shelves in my area and I was lucky enough to score a few of them.

As with the others I’ve reviewed from the Halo 5 Guardians series 1 figures, there is good articulation. But for the hip articulation which is limited, it can be put in some cool poses.McF Spartan Tech action 1McF Spartan Tech action 2

Here are some detail shots. This figure as you can see has mostly green and black paint. Pretty much the only other paint colors are the visor’s gold and the shark blue color on the under armor.McF Spartan Tech detail 1McF Spartan Tech detail 2McF Spartan Tech detail 3

Evaluation
Sculpt: Excellent sculpt. McFarlane does gets the digital files direct from 343 to use for the sculpt. Still, this looks pretty spot on. 10 of 10 medals!
Articulation: This figure has some good articulation to it. As mentioned here and with the other H5G s-1 figs, just the hip articulation holds this back from being superb.. You can’t quite get it to pose in some natural human poses. (This has remained consistent through the first of the Halo 5 Guardians figures) 9.5 out of 10 medals
Paint Application: For having only two main colors, there is a good amount of detail in the paint application. Weathering is decent too. Lived in but not worn out. 10 of 10 medals.
Accessories: With a Battle Rifle that can easily fit in the figures hands as well as be stowed on it’s back and a magnum that has similar qualitited, I give this a thumbs up! Maybe just a little too weathered is all. 9 out of 10 medals
Playability: Since this is a mutlplayer Spartan, it depends on what you’re using it for. To reenact anything from the campaign, this fig won’t help as much. But to recreate a play in matchmaking, this is a good choice. 8 of 10.
Overall: 46.5 medals out of a total 50 medals.

Do I recommend this product? Yes!
