Torque Map Update

Hot off the presses, this update was just posted about 18 minutes ago on Waypoint as of this writing.

This is a reblog from Halo Waypoint:

The Multiplayer Team has just pushed out a robust update to Torque that should improve the overall quality of the map. The following changes will take effect immediately:

  • Fixed the pistons in Red/Blue Yard to have the same height when down/up
  • Updated the location names to help player orientation
  • Replaced red exploding barrels with blue fusion coils on the Blue side of the map for player orientation
  • Adjust cover pieces to open up longer sight lines across “Top Mid”
  • Added Shotgun to “Top Mid” for Strongholds
  • Adjusted spawn points to provide better spawning behavior

We’ll continue to make adjustments based on your feedback, as well as provide regular updates about what the team is working on.

HFFL: How are you folks liking Torque? I have to be honest, I’m not a fan of the gameplay on it. Yet.. It’s still very new. I just haven’t found a groove on it yet. I think it needs some spawn adjustment as well as weapons/power weapons adjustment.

  1. Like you I have yet to really find a groove on Torque. I do like the map and the pistons moving added a dynamic element that is really interesting. However if I read it right that is no longer the case. Still it is a fun map and I have a better feel for it than I do Riptide.

    • Yeah, the pistons didn’t bother me at all. Don’t really know why that change was necessary. I think I actually like Riptide better. Likely because I know it better. But also because it’s better lit. Not to mention the sight lines and area of heavy battle are pretty concentrated on Riptide. Torque doesn’t have that. Or at least for me, it hasn’t yet displayed that. I’ve had conflicts all over the map which throw off any sense of concerted strategy. The sides near top mid, top mid, and even the bases all see action. Part of the problem I have is that enemies are on me quicker that I can see in radar and I have virtually no time to react before being fired upon and killed. I think we as a Spartan Company are going to need to practice on this map a bit. Might be something for a Saturday session. (Though not THIS Saturday as the HWC is happening!!)
