And on with the pics! (Click pics to make BIGGER)
Once again, McFarlane’s presentation is straight forward. WYSIWYG. And what you get is AWESOME!
Just in case you couldn’t tell what you get, here ya go.
Zoom into this pic if you can’t see the emblems on Buck’s armor. The left side of the graphic above shows his shoulder armor having the Fireteam Osiris emblem, while the right side shows the ODST emblem on his chest armor.
A close-up of the Hydra and pistol you get with the figure.
The sculpting is of course fantastic. Buck is nearly all silver/grey and the light hits the detail of the sculpt VERY well, as you can see from the pics above.
A close-up of Buck holding the Hydra. Okay, actually, it’s resting in the crux of his right elbow and him holding it with his left hand. Tried as I might, I just couldn’t get both hands to hold the weapon.
Storage of the Hydra on Buck’s back, via the between the shoulders hole.
Storing the pistol on Buck’s thigh via the thigh hole. Also a quick note, I really like that 343 kept the pouches from Buck’s ODST armor here. Just as happy that McFarlane Toys did the same.
I really like this pose. He seems to be moving with a quiet purpose, with pistol in hand.
Going for the ground pound!
Uh? Incoming???
And finally, as this is the last figure from the last wave of Halo figures from McFarlane Toys to be made (unless there is a surprise somehow), Buck wishes you well.
Evaluation
Sculpt: Excellent 10 of 10 medals!
Articulation: This figure has articulation that has become pretty standard with McFarlane Halo figures. Hip articulation is limited. Posing, in some natural human poses, can be difficult. (This has remained consistent through the first of the Halo 5 Guardians figures) 8.5 out of 10 medals
Paint Application: The paint is good here. Not too much beyond the Grey/Silver tones with some white highlights. However, that reflects the in-game character to a tee!. 10 of 10 medals.
Accessories: I like that he has a pistol. There is a scene in the game where he holds a pistol and remarks about missing being an ODST. My only complaint is that instead of the Hydra, he should have come with the shotgun, his weapon of choice in game.. 8.5 out of 10 medals
Playability: Standard playability. It can be pose in many positions. 9 of 10 medals.
Overall: 46 medals out of a total 50 medals.
Do I recommend this product? YES! It’s BUCK as a Spartan! How could you NOT want this? As mentioned above, he’s part of the last wave of figures Mcfarlane Toys is producing. So most definitely, if you see him, get him! Once they are gone, that’s it…(sadly)
Later this week, I’m going to have a tribute article to McFarlane Toys for their place in Halo toys history. If YOU have a collection of McFarlane Halo toys, send me a pic of it to my e-mail [email protected]. I want to include it in the tribute! (please try to keep it to just McFarlane Halo figs and not other toy lines or Halo licensees, if possible.
If you have any questions about this set that I didn’t cover in the review, please feel free to ask me. Either reply below or e-mail me at [email protected]
