Mega SoS BOX
The box art if very cool, featuring an action sequence on the front and a display on the back that tells us which figures and weapons are included in the set.

Mega SoS contents
You get several bags of parts with the set. Make note that the base for the drop shield is in one of thne figure bags and the concussion rifle is another of the figure bags.

Mega SoS sorted
All the pieces sorted out. I had no extra, nor missing pieces. Only exactly what was needed.

Mega SoS weapon detail
The concussion rifle is a two-piece weapon. There is a very small conical piece that fits in a similarly shaped space through the weapon itself.

Mega SoS steps
There are very few steps to building the back drop section for this. I’m curious as to what and where this comes from. One thing that I will check out later is to see if this section fits with the Fireteam Shadow section. They are similar in color and design. As of this writing, I do not have that set, but when I do, I will make that observation in the toy review.

Mega SoS accessories
The set also includes these three buildable accessories. A plasma turret, drop shield and plasma power core. I’m happy that these were included. Especialy the shiled and core. We havne’t really got enough of those in sets. They are great filler for any diorama!

The figures!
Before I get into the figures, let me do say this set is FANTASTIC for army builders! Even if you don’t army build, being able to get a small squad of Sword of Sanghelios fighters in one set is extremely convenient!

GruntMega SoS Ortho Grunt
Of all Grunts for Halo 5, THIS is the one is the one I wanted the most. Why? It’s the color fo the armor and that it’s affiliated with the SoS!

Elite MinorMega SoS Ortho Elite Minor
Same with this Elite. We’ve had the Elite Minor in sets and blind bags previously. Now however, it’s in the SoS color. Take a look at the one shoulder and you’ll even see that it’s emblazoned with the logo of the SoS!

Elite CommanderMega SoS Ortho Elite Officer
One style of Elite that we haven’t seen much of is this Commander. And I’m very grateful to have it included in this set. The pointed shoulder armor and striking profile of the helmet make this Elite stand out from most others.

Here’s a closer look at the logo on the shoulder armor. This is a VERY close up shot. And it STILL looks good. From normal viewing distance, it looks fantastic!Mega SoS Paint detail

The weapons included with this set are a storm rifle, needler, energy sword and concussion rifle. That’s a good mix of weapons and color there.Mega SoS weapons

And finally a couple of shots of the complete set with the figures.Mega SoS FINMega SoS FIN 2

Summary: This set is a quick and  easy build. It can be completed in minutes. As an all army building set it’s great for those who want a lot of Elites and Grunts.

Overall Rating: I give this set 10 out for 10 medals.

Why did I give it a 10 out of 10?
• The set has a good selection of army building SoS fighters as well as weapons. The accessories in the Plasma Turret, Drop Shield and Plasma Core really help to fill this set out even more! I can’t find any fault with this. Any thing I might say would be nitpicky, so why say it, right?

Let me break down my opinion of the value of this set. (In US dollars)
• Each figure with one of the weapons each and stand is $3.50 each. Total of $14.
• The buildable plasma turret is worth 75 cents-$1
• The buildable drop shield is $1 (because it’s harder to find)
• The buildable plasma core is anotehr $1.
• The backdrop set is worth at least $2 just for the number of parts alone.
TOTAL: $19 (before tax and in U.S. dollars)

Given that the set only cost $16 U.S. before tax, this set is DEFINITELY worth the cost. Honestly, if Mega hadn’t included the background set, it would still be worth the $16, in my opinion.

Do I recommend it?  MOST DEFINITELY YES!! Being an all army nuilding set, if you’re into that, this is a MUST have. Even if you’re not into building armies, this is a great set to have a nice litle variety of Elites and the Grunt in the Swords of Sanghelios color scheme.
