As this is my first returning Toy review since July of last year (2017), I’ve got a bit of catching up to do. Since this set is labeled as Mega Bloks and NOT Mega Construx, that is why the review and logo are as such. You may see a few more of these, while I catch up on all the toy reviews that I’ve been meaning to post since then. After which, any “Mega” sets will be Construx, and not Bloks.

The large plastic “bubble” allows for us to see pratically everything contained within this set. Only things not shown are the figure stands, which are hidden within.
The back of the package shows what all is in the set, including the figure stands, as well as showing the lids are removable from the crates.
When you remove the bubble from the cardboard, this is what you see. The figure stands are within the crates themselves.
I’m alwats happy when Mega gives us crates in sets to allow us NOT to lose the accessories. That the lids are color coordinated with the figures is a nice touch, though not really needed in this case as the weapons are color coordinated, with exception to the Fuel Rod Gun and Needler.
Speaking of weapons, here’s a close up of those in the set. It’s a GREAT assortment. I especially like the NEW version of the Fuel Rod Gun and that it’s given special paint detailing.
You do get an instruction sheet in the set. It’s not really needed though as the figures are put together.
Other than the color of the armor, the figures themselves are the exact same. I like them both. The golden one gives me an Arbiter feel, while the crimson one a Swords of Sanghelios feeling.
Just to prove to you that indeed, all the weapons do fit within both crates.
Who would win in a showdown, the Crimson or the Gold?
Neither! They are brothers in battle to the end!
Summary: This set has no build time, which is always a plus. A good assortment of weapons gives you some variety to play with as well as accessorize your other Covenant troops. The price is decent for what you get.
Overall Rating: I give this set 9.5 out for 10 medals.
Why did I give it a 9.5 out of 10?
• There really isn’t anything wrong with the set. I’m just being slightly picky here. I’d rather the lids be the generic Covenant Purple and perhaps more detailing on the weapons. That’s it.
Let me break down my opinion of the value of this set. (In US dollars)
• The figures equate to $3.50 each. $7 total.
• The crates, stands, and power core EASILY make up the remaining $2 and then some. In fact, I’d value that all at minimum another $5.
TOTAL: $12 (before tax and in U.S. dollars)
Given that the set cost $9 U.S. before tax, this set is a really good value, even though the piece count doesn’t follow the guideline of 10 cents per piece.
Do I recommend it? Absolutely! If you’re short on Elite Zealots, this is a good way to stock up. Need more Covenant style weapons? This set is PERFECT for you!
As it’s been out awhile now (again, I’m playing catch up on rerviews from last July), it may be hard to find now. Though, if I recall, it’s not too expensive to nab from eBay.
