Halo Toy Review: Mega Bloks Versus Troop Pack

As this is my second returning Toy review since July of last year (2017), I’ve got a bit of catching up to do. Since this set is labeled as Mega Bloks and NOT Mega Construx, that is why the review and logo are as such. After which, all “Mega” sets will be Construx, and not Bloks.

This set has actually been out for awhile. I was very late to the game getting it as I never saw it at retail and eventually ahd to resort to eBay. Something I rarely do and don’t like to do.

The packaging shows off the contents very well. You see all of the figures, several of the weapons and the flags. On the back is more detail of the set.MB Vs Troop Pack PKG

Hidden behind the insert graphic is the pouch of other weapons, figure plates and flag parts.

Below is what is specifically in that pouch.MB Vs Troop Pack sorted

The flags are the old style, with the new UNSC logo. It’s a great compromise. I like the old stands, while also enjoy the new logo.MB Vs Troop Pack Flags

Let’s have a look at the mini figures included.

Of the 5 figures included, by far the Active Camo Spartan is my favorite. Long time readers know I just LOVE translucent toys!!!

And finally the whole set.MB Vs Troop Pack FIN

Summary: This set has almost no build time. A good mix of spartans in team colors as well as a good mix of weapons.

Overall Rating: I give this set 9.5 out for 10 medals.

Why did I give it a 9.5 out of 10?
• The armor sets had been done before these were released to retail. So the weren’t new persay, just the color of them were. That’s a nitpick though.

Let me break down my opinion of the value of this set. (In US dollars)
• The figures equate to $3.50 each. $14 total.
• The flags, stands and figure plates definitely make up for the remaining $2
TOTAL: $16 (before tax and in U.S. dollars)

Given that the set cost $16 U.S. before tax, the set is right on par with my estimated worth. Now that it’s been out for awhile though, it’s actually worth more. That’s IF you have it still sealed in the package.

Do I recommend it?  You bet! The set comes with 5 figures. Something that doesn’t happen anymore. Now we get 4 figures in a set and typically those cost the same as this one did at retail. For me the gem in this set is the Active Camo Spartan Solider. As stated before, I LOVE translucent toys. That it’s the regular Active Camo makes it great for more realistic in-game scenes/dioramas.

As it’s been out awhile now (again, I’m playing catch up on rerviews from last July), it may be hard to find now.
