The box art shows the figures in a cool action scene, while the back shows off the contents within. This box size is new to the Halo Mega Construx line. I like it. It’s tall, not long. This allows for more sets to be placed on store shelves.

You get several bags of parts and a small instruction manual.

All the pieces sorted out. Not much to this as far as building goes. That’s just fine for me for what this set is.

This set features the first NEW articulation for the Jackals. It now has double jointed knees, just like the elites do. This makes them just as tall as the elites. I’m a little mixed on this. It wasn’t articulation that was needed. However, it does make for slightly better dynamic posing. Jackals are a good 2 feet shorter within the lore of Halo, so the figure height doesn’t match with the game, comparatively. I’m ok with this though.

You get a deployable shield. This isn’t often seen with Covenant sets, so it’s a welcome addition to the collection. Note that this also includes clips to hold the second plasma bolt, which can be discretely hidden behind the plasma shield for storage.

Mega has taken to making turrets with a shooting action feature. This is good for playability. However, it does suffer from lack of in-game accuracy. So it’s a give and take. For the Covenant turret, I’m cool with this. It still looks good.

And finally, the whole set together. I’m ALWAYS happy to get army building sets and this one is definitely on that list. More Covenant aliens are always welcomed into my collection. This set carries a diverse set of characters with two elites, a jackal, and a grunt. All are army building figures, no officers. That is a BIG draw for me!

Summary: The set is a Covenant army builder’s dream. No build time and a diverse mix of aliens and guns rounds out a great figure set along with the deployable drop shield and turret.

Overall Rating: I give this set 10 out for 10 medals.

Why did I give it a 10 out of 10?
• There is nothing I can find fault with in this set. If I were being nitpicky, it might be the not so accurate turret. But that’s just not enough to mark this set down from a 10.

Here’s my opinion on the break down of the value of this set. (In US dollars)
• The figures with one weapon each and a figure stand equate to $3.50 each.  $14 total.
• Drop Shield assembly $1.50
• Turret assembly $1.50 (including the 2 plasma bolts)
Terrain assembly $1
TOTAL: $18 (before tax and in U.S. dollars)

Given that the set costs $15 US before tax, this is a great value! I look forward to getting more of this set to build up my growing Covenant army!

Do I recommend it?  YES!! As mentioned above, this is a Covenant Army builder’s dream! A good mix of aliens and weapons. The turret and drop shield adding to the value. It really is worth more than the $15 it’s being sold for.
