The box art shows the figures in an action scene, while the back shows off the contents within. This box size is new to the Halo Mega Construx line. I like it. It’s tall, not long allowing for more sets to be placed on store shelves.
You get several bags of parts, 3 of which are figures, while one is already pre-built.
Here are the parts sorted out. I do like that we gt 3 sandbags. Always hapy to have more of them.
A new feature is this stand that plugs into the hole in a figure’s back. Also included are two small translucent blue jet streams to show a spartan taking flight or using their stabilizers. The jets fit snugly into the holes in the bottom of the feet, as shown by the insert pic below.
The Vector Spartan is new to the Mega line. Note also that the shoulder armor has the Castle logo on it. It’s like this for each of the Castle Spartans.
This set includes a buildable machine gun turret. It’s a bit oversized, but does have a neat firing mechanism for added playability.
You also gt this small barricade which also hides one of the plastic bolts used in the turret.
It’s worth noting that Castle was a Fireteam first mentioned in Halo 4. With exception to the War Master armor, the other 3 sets weren’t around at the release of this game. So the lore on these being the actual Spartans from Castle team of Halo 4 might not be correct. however, they COULD be the successors to that team as Fireteam Castle from Halo 4 was wiped out.
Summary: The set is a good value. The selection of Spartan armor and weapons, accompanied by the new turret and small barricade, round out this set nicely.
Overall Rating: I give this set 9 out for 10 medals.
Why did I give it a 9 out of 10?
• I’m not a fan of the bigger turret as it’s not game accurate. Yes, the added shooting feature adds play value, tha’ts why I’m only taking one point off.
Here’s my opinion on the break down of the value of this set. (In US dollars)
• The figures with one weapon and a figure stand each equate to $3.50 each. $14 total.
• Barricade assembly $1
• Turret assembly and sandbags $2 total
TOTAL: $17 (before tax and in U.S. dollars)
Given that the set costs $15 US before tax, this is a very good value!
Do I recommend it? YES. Other than the oversized turret, the set is solid. Again though, the added play feature in the turret may be a draw for you, so take my comment with a grain of salt.
