And on with the pics! (Click pics to make BIGGER)

The box art very cool! However, keep in mind, it’s a “fantasy” situation. Neither the SMG or the guns on the vehicle fire or even have attachable pieces to make it look like they are firing. The back shows the completed Gungoose, figure and another new set, the Grunt Goblin.

Within the box you get a few bags of parts and a small instruction manual.

In the largest bag you get four wheels and two smaller bags, one of which contains the figure.

Note that this figure is female as shown by the torso.

Here are the pieces sorted out. Nearly all the pieces we’ve seen before. However, the exception are those two silver pieces with round ends. You’ll see later in the review how they fit in. GREAT usage!

Okay, let’s get into the build!

One thing that immediately stands out as new to this version of the gungoose/mongoose are the use of pins. The red center pin brings the body together, while the two forward “L” pins act as a sort of shock absorber in appearance while connecting more of the vehicle together.

Mega went a step further and designed the front end to appear as if it has light wells. Hopefully next time they’ll include translucent parts to fit inside there to be lights. Nevertheless, this is a good leap forward in design!

A close-up of the “L” pin showing it’s connective properties.

Much of the Gungoose is built here. What I really want to point out in this pic is the silver piece with the rounded ends.

It’s built with pins that insert into the body as well as under the body and into each other side. Really great design here!
I rarely post any of the actual instruction steps, but in this case, I feel to really appreciate the design, you need to see how it’s specifically assembled.

The finished Gungoose!

The figure itself fits well in the driver’s position. Just look at all that detail in the gungoose too!

What’s even better is how Mega crafted the design for the rider. Foot pegs to rest on and a handle for the left hand. This makes the figure fairly secure in the rider position! BTW, you can move the handle to the other side, if you prefer as there is a clip on that side too. Really great that Mega gives YOU the choice as the builder.

I had these parts leftover. Always nice when Mega includes extra parts. Especially pins! Into the parts bin they go!

And finally for better scale, here is the Gungoose side by side with the figure. It’s pretty hefty!

Summary: The set is a FUN build, with new design features. Excellent use of previous and new pieces. A rare (but getting to be not so rare and that’s a good thing) female Spartan comes with this set.

Overall Rating: I give this set 10 out for 10 medals.

Why did I give it a 10 out of 10?
There are few things about this set that need to be said.
• The design is the BEST we’ve seen to date, IMO.
• The rider’s position gets a nice overhaul with proper foot pegs and a handle to hold onto.
• A female Spartan! As mention that’s still fairly rare these days.

Here’s my opinion on the break down of the value of this set. (In US dollars)
• The figure with weapon and figure stand equates to $3.50.
• Gungoose $8
TOTAL: $11.50 (before tax and in U.S. dollars)

Given that the set costs $10 US before tax, this is a very good value!

Do I recommend it?  YES. I didn’t think I needed yet another mongoose. That thought changed immediately as I was building the set, when I realized how it was being put together. Now I consider it a MUST OWN!

I now hope that we see an arctic, ONI (all black)  Urban and regular UNSC Green versions of this build!!! Hmm…if these go on sale, I’ might just have to get some extras to make these versions in case Mega doesn’t.
