Halo Toy PRE-view: Mega Construx UNSC Blizzard Squad

New sets are finally trickling out, just in time for the holidays! Today I bring you a preview of the UNSC Blizzard Squad set from Mega Construx!

Some set specs:
Minifigs in set: UNSC Officer, UNSC Marine, UNSC Cryo Marine (though it’s called a flame marine on Mega’s website)
Accessories: Assault Rifle, Battle Rifle, Cryo Thrower, buildable Cryo Turret
Pieces: 111
Cost: $14.99

On to the official pics from Mega!

This set is almost all figures and it’s COOL! As well, there is a buildable Cryo Turret. The mottling color of the translucent blue piece connected to the turret will vary between sets. So don’t expect yours to look exactly like that piece. The turret has a built in projectile launcher.
The UNSC Officer (also sometimes called a Sergeant in other Mega sets) has been in several other Mega Bloks/Construx sets. This time we get it in a lightly frosted grey with white undercut color scheme.

Likewise, the regular marines has been in a LOT of sets. This one however follows the light frosted grey and white color scheme of the Blizzard Squad set.
The Cryo Marine is the gem to me in this set. You get not one but TWO of this figure in the set. It’s the same exact figure that comes in the Marine Customer Pack. This one however is mostly white with a lightly frosted grey undersuit. I REALLY like this figure! The Cryo pack on it’s back is buildable too.

Another shot of the Cryo thrower.

Here’s the official blurb on the set from Mega:
Fury runs ice-cold with this Cryo Trooper Fireteam!
Freeze enemy units in their tracks with this cryotech-equipped Fireteam! Build your base and equip your Cryo Troopers soldiers for cryo battle with authentic arctic armor, cryo spray and functional launchers. Then take cover behind the buildable, working cryo shell launcher and ice out enemy forces!

Ideal for ages 8 and up

• 4 highly detailed, super-poseable micro action figures
• Fireteam includes 2 Marines, and 2 Cryo Troopers
• Buildable environment with functional cryo shell launcher
• Figures come with interchangeable armor, cryo spray and buildable turret and missiles

My quick assessment of the set (not having it in hand at present) is it’s fantastic! Regardless that the piece count is 111, which would normally mean a set at a cost of $10-11, this set is worth the price due to it having FOUR figures plus the small buildable turret and terrain pieces. Single blind bag figures range between $3-4. So $12-16 for this set. That you get the turret is a bonus!
Look for my FULL review of this set in soon. There I’ll go into more detail of how the projectile launches from the turret.

Thanks as always for reading!
