Halo Toy Review: Mega Construx Power Pack – Vector Tactical

Mega Construx Power Pack – Vector Tactical

Technical Specifications:
Build Time: 1 minute to sort, 1 minute to build
Set Piece Count: 31
Minifigures: Translucent Magenta Vector Spartan
Weapons: Vengeance skinned Assault Rifle, Sharktooth Grin skinned Magnum, Gold Sniper Rifle
Accessories: Orange Light Bayonet (can be attached to AR), attachable scope for AR, Figure stand
Special Features: REQ station opens/closes and stores weapons
Cost: $7 US (Mass Retail)

Before we move on with the review, it should be noted that there is no in-game Vector Tactical power up. This is something made specifically for the 10th Anniversary (of licensing) line. Hence why it includes the gold sniper rifle.

On with the pics! (Click pics to make BIGGER)

The window shows the figure, weapons and REQ station nicely. The back shows 3 armor pack sets. (As of this writing, I’ve reviewed the Green and Black sets. Hope to have the Blue set in a couple of weeks.)

Inside you get a small bag of parts, the figure, weapons and one-half of the REQ station, as well as an instruction sheet.

Here are all the pieces sorted out. Note that the magenta piece of the REQ station is removable.

Below are the two “skinned” weapons. Vengeance AR and Shark Tooth Magnum.

You can attach a scope and a hard light bayonet to the AR.

Below shows the REQ station without and with the weapons. You can reposition these as desired.

We rarely get magenta/pink figures. So one that is translucent is even rarer still. I personally like this armor and think it looks great in transparent status.

The figure can be posed holding the AR quite nicely!

Same goes for it holding the Magnum.

Here you can see how the AR is stowed on the back of the figure.

The gold sniper again is in homage to Mega having the license with Microsoft for 10 years. Of course it’s not real gold…

Summary: The set has virtually no build time. It’s unique weapon skins are a selling point and one in which I suspect many collectors will buy these Power Packs for. If you like translucent figures (As long time readers know I DO!), these sets are for you!

Overall Rating: I give this set 10 out for 10 medals.

Why did I give it a 10 out of 10?
• I think the magenta translucent pieces look great and really make the figure stand out.
• The detail painted on the AR and Magnum is cool.

Here’s my opinion on the break down of the value of this set. (In US dollars)
• The figure with one weapon and the figure stand equates to $3.50.
• The two other skinned weapons are $2 total.
• The REQ Station $1.50.
TOTAL: $7 (before tax and in U.S. dollars)

Given that the set costs $7 US before tax, this is a decent value. It’s right one par with the selling price. The detail on the weapons does add some value here, IMO. So tack on another $1-2 worth of value. This makes the set a slightly better value, in my opinion.

Do I recommend it?  YES! Given the uniqueness of the weapons skins and color specific theme of the set, this is a neat set to have in one’s collection.
