I’ve got a small Halo project I’m working on and need some simple help with.

Okay the title says it all. Without revealing what the actual project is, I need some pretty simple help and more folks helping will make the project easier.

I need to know what/who all retail and other businesses 343 has been in partnership with to bring Halo to us.

Here are the ones I have:
343 (self explanatory)
Microsoft (self explanatory)
Doritos (Double XP promotion)
Mountain Dew (Double XP promotion)
Mega Bloks (Major Halo toy licensee)
McFarlane Toys (Major Halo toy licensee)
Certain Affinity (Development company who provided many of the multiplayer maps we have in Halo 4. As well they did work on Halo CE: Anniversary

Now, I don’t need small companies/businesses that most people wouldn’t know of, just the ones that are pretty famous. All will become clear once I have the project done.

I will say that it has to do with the next Halo game on the XBOX One!

Thanks in advance for any help you all can give.

Toy Review: Mega Bloks UNSC Cyclops Desert Strike

This is the third of four sets my wife bought me for Father’s Day. I’m not a dad in the sense of having a human child. But we treat our dog as our “daughter.” So my wife took a little liberty there with calling these Father’s Day presents…

MB grey logo

Mega Bloks UNSC Cyclops Desert Strike: Set # 97007

Technical Specifications:
Build Time: 3 minutes
Set Piece Count: 47
Minifig: Marine Tan/grey w/full goggle face
Weapons: SMG
Accessories: Backpack
Special Features: Cyclops has 13 points of articulation, including opening cockpit
Price: $15-17 depending on where you buy it from.

And on with the pics!

UNSC Cyclops Desert Strike packageThis packaging is all new. I really like how it shows off the cyclops as well as the window for the minifig, weapon and accessories.
UNSC Cyclops Desert Strike CARD
Here’s the card once the plastic bubble is removed. This is a nice little bonus if you’re careful with removing the bubble. Nice backdrop.
UNSC Cyclops Desert Strike Contents
The contents of the package. If you keep this carded, the cyclops looks like it’s built. But when you remove the bubble, you find it’s actually just sitting in the try not connected.
UNSC Cyclops Desert Strike Contents of bag
The above pieces are from the bag in the previous shot. Note the four pins in the upper right corner. Those are use to put the elbow and knee joints together. Most of the rest of these pieces are for the gun.
UNSC Cyclops Desert Strike cockpit-articulation
And the cyclops fully built. I like the deco on the marine. The hip joints on the cyclops aren’t wide ranging, so you’re a little limited on how you can pose the legs. However, by bending the knees and making use of the “toe” joints you can get the cyclops into some good poses.

Summary: As a toy the cyclops is a fun little set. Articulation is decent and the deco is fine. The only issue I have is the cost of the set. $15-17 is in my opinion too much. I get that Mega had to make up for all new molds for this set. (yet they used them for four versions of the cyclops) I have to wonder what Mega’s MSRP was on this and if the retailers all jacked up the price. Given the number of pieces, even if unique I feel the set should be no more than $12.

So, in this case, I suggest unless you really want this, to wait for it to go on sale. It’s a GREAT set mind you. Again, I’m not knocking the toy at all. It’s the price. When you compare this to the Mantis which sells for around $30, well, I just feel a little underwhelmed with what you get. There is one thing I think that would have made this worth the extra cost. That being a technician minifig. Adding that to the marine pilot the extra $5 for a tech would have been agreeable to me.

Overall Rating: I give this set 8.5 out of 10 medals (for the toy). Yes, I think it’s THAT good! 5 out of 10 for the price. The toy itself would have had a higher rating if the articulation was better and the hands could hold things.

Toy Review: Mega Bloks ODST Recon Specialist (Drop Pod)

This is the second of four sets my wife bought me for Father’s Day. I’m not a dad in the sense of having a human child. But we treat our dog as our “daughter.” So my wife took a little liberty there with calling these Father’s Day presents…

Mega Bloks ODST Recon Specialist (Drop Pod): Set # 97105

Technical Specifications:
Build Time: 2 minutes
Set Piece Count: 31
Minifig: Recon ODST (Dare from Halo 3: ODST though not named as such)
Weapons: Rocket Launcher, Silenced SMG, SOCOM Pistol
Accessories: None
Special Features: Flip out side doors, removable front door, deployable flaps, short and tall antennae
Price: $11-13 depending on where you buy it from.

And on with the pics!

ODST Recon Specialist-BOX
Well packaged as all of Mega’s drop pods are.
ODST Recon Specialist-Contents
Above shows the contents of his set. Note the weapons.
ODST Recon Specialist-Pod inside-flaps
The pod with it’s doors unattached, attached with flaps deployed, and flaps resting.
ODST Recon Specialist-minifig
The minifigure is cool. While you could make this from other figures, the fact that Mega took the time to make this specifically shows they want to make named characters. I can only guess that there is some kind of licensing thing that does not allow them to name the minifigs as such. Still this IS Dare from Halo3: ODST.
ODST Recon Specialist-full set
The full set, this pic shows the pod with the tall antennae attached.

Summary: I have to say that this is probably my favorite UNSC Drop Pod. Sure, it’s not game-accurate colors, but wow that black looks awesome and the bronze windows really “POP.” I definitely recommend getting it.

Overall Rating: I give this set 10 out of 10 medals. Yes, I think it’s THAT good!

Toy Review: Mega Bloks Covenant Drop Pod-Elite General

This is the first of four sets my wife bought me for Father’s Day. I’m not a dad in the sense of having a human child. But we treat our dog as our “daughter.” So my wife took a little liberty there with calling these Father’s Day presents…

Covenant Drop Pod-Elite General: Set # 97106

Technical Specifications:
Build Time: 2 minutes
Set Piece Count: 20
Minifig: Elite General (Reach style)
Weapons: Plasma Launcher, Needler, Plasma Rifle
Accessories: None
Special Features: Flip down door
Price: $11-13 depending on where you buy it from.

And on with the pics!

Elite Gen Drop Pod-BOXMega Bloks certainly has the packaging down for the Drop Pods. A nice tall and slim box, it shows off the drop pod, minifig and some of the weapons nicely. You KNOW what you’re getting!
Elite Gen Drop Pod-contents
Here are the contents of the box. Pretty straight forward.
Elite Gen Drop Pod-minifig
The minifig is nice. All white with some detailing in gold. I like the sculpt and hope Mega offers it in some other colors in the future.
Elite Gen Drop Pod-weapons
The weapons are molds that have been used before. However, it’s the fantastic paint job on these that really makes these the gem in this set. That “Blueberry” gun (Plasma Launcher) is awesome. Not to mention a game accurate needler and Plasma Rifle!
Elite Gen Drop Pod-final
The completed set.

Summary: The set is quick to build and can be displayed nearly anywhere. It’s compact, and stores the minifig and weapons nicely. The paint deco of this whole set is fantastic. I wish ALL Halo Mega Bloks had this level of paint application to them.

Overall Rating: I give this set 9.5 out of 10 medals. I definitely recommend getting it.

Award Winning Composer/Producer Tom Salta scores Halo: Spartan Assault

Text from article with Top Dollar PR.
New York (June 13, 2013) – MTV VMA nominated composer Tom Salta, one of the most versatile and prolific music artists/producers working in film, television, advertising and video games, provides the original score for 343 Industries’ first mobile title “Halo: Spartan Assault,” an epic “Halo” experience for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 launching in July 2013.
Tom Salta provides an authentic “Halo” original score for “Spartan Assault,” featuring ethereal choral arrangements, piano motifs, rock guitars, synth ambience and sweeping sci-fi orchestral compositions that are distinctly representative of the franchise. Salta also expands the “Halo” universe with original sounds to complement the musical blueprint of the first trilogy and beyond, combined with a full modern sound production to create a contemporary and classic “Halo” soundtrack.
Paul Lipson, Music/Audio Director for “Halo: Spartan Assault” at 343 Industries: “Tom has been a great partner, and his core understanding of the ‘Halo’ universe and related musical language was essential in crafting the sound of ‘Halo: Spartan Assault.’ Drawing on our experience working together on ‘Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary,’ we’ve been able to create a new musical score that is both fresh and familiar for ‘Halo’ fans around the globe.”
Renowned for crafting emotionally engaging music for interactive media, Tom Salta has received widespread industry acclaim for his world-class produced scores featured in video game titles such as “Galactic Reign,” “Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary,” “Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands,” “Red Steel,” “Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon,” and “Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X” series. Intimately familiar with the “Halo” universe, Salta previously created synthesis, drums, and percussion for “Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary” in collaboration with Pyramind Studios and 343 Industries.
“Having been involved in the re-creation of the original ‘Halo’ score for ‘Halo Anniversary,’ I gained a very deep understanding of the DNA of the ‘Halo’ sound, which I drew inspiration from when creating a completely new and authentic original score for ‘Halo: Spartan Assault,’” said Salta. “As a huge fan of the ‘Halo’ series, I wanted to be sure that the music I created felt true to what franchise fans around the world would identify as the ‘Halo’ sound, while still feeling new.”
Prior to his composing career, Salta toured with and worked on releases by a diverse array of popular artists such as Peter Gabriel, Everything But The Girl, Deep Forest and Sinead O’Connor. After several years of touring, he became more immersed in studio work including producing, remixing and songwriting. When “Halo: Combat Evolved” was released on the original Xbox, his passion for writing music and the interactive art form of video games collided. “I was so impressed by the use of music while playing ‘Halo: Combat Evolved’ back in 2001,” says Salta. “It created such a rich and immersive experience, and that’s one of the many aspects I wanted to capture in my quest to create an authentic ‘Halo’ score for ‘Spartan Assault.’”
Inspired by gaming’s unique musical challenges and growing potential for creative opportunities, Salta embraced this exciting new medium. Recording under the artist name “Atlas Plug,” Salta released the critically acclaimed electronic / orchestral music album “2 Days or Die” which quickly caught the attention of major video game developers and publishers. His album introduced a new hybrid sound to the visual entertainment industry at large, garnering high-profile placements on numerous television shows on ABC, CBS, MTV, NBC as well as national commercials and movie trailers, and simultaneously launched his music career in video games.
“‘Halo’ is what inspired me more than any other to pursue scoring games,” enthuses Tom Salta. “This has been a long-time dream of mine that has finally come true and I was not going to settle for anything that didn’t feel exactly right; I wanted to ensure that the music truly felt like a ‘Halo’ game. I am grateful to Music/Audio Director Paul Lipson, Microsoft and 343 for giving me the opportunity to score ‘Halo: Spartan Assault.’”
HFFL: Sounds like Spartan Assault may have a good soundtrack. Can’t wait to hear it!

Introducing: “Crater City” a mini-slayer map for Halo 4.

This is the final of four finished mini-slayer maps I created for Halo 4. When I found out this game type was coming to matchmaking, I contacted 343 via twitter and let them know I had these maps to look at. Asking if they wanted to see them, they said a resounding, “YES.”

Proof of Twitter conv
They are still in my fileshare BTW, if YOU want to check them out too, beyond these pics I’ve been posting. My Fileshare

Now on to Crater City!

I designed this one on top of the building to make use of that geometry of the map.

Crater City Top view HFFLThis time I’m showing the top view from forge with the safe zone highlighted. It’s right at the edge of the walls. So don’t venture outside of them or you know what will happen to you…
Crater City Red spawn HFFL
Crater City Blue spawn HFFL
You can access the building just above in the pic. Good place to hide, but I prefer not to camp…
Crater City Pelican Landing HFFL
I like the idea of having a mini UNSC base in these maps. Thus again, I added one, this much smaller than the others. It has a mini-”Pelican” that has landed there.
Crater City Food Court HFFL
As with Canyon, I’ve included spaces at the bottom of some buildings to create more playspace. Crater city is FULL of these places, so take a good look around!
Crater City Atrium HFFL
This is another one of those spaces. I thought about adding more in this area, however the gameplay is so quick, it really became unnecessary.
Crater City Watchtower HFFL
Not far from the Atrium is the Watchtower. You can get behind it with your spartan as well as walk between it (as shown).
Crater City Alley HFFL
Here is a back alley in Crater City. Again a good place to hide, but I’ve found not much action goes on here, so you might not get many kills if you hang out here.
Crater City Power Plant HFFL
In the same corner as the alley is a power plant. You can go under this building too!
Crater City Hologram HFFL
This building is the gem of the map, IMO. Not only can you run around it and on top of it…
Crater City Hologram interior HFFL
You can go inside of it too. And be greeted by the Impact hologram!
Crater City in the hologram HFFL
In fact you can walk in amongst it!
Crater City Old town HFFL
I call this corner of the map “Old town” because it’s the corner I worked on first.
Crater City Old Base HFFL
This was originally going to be the red base spawn before I moved initial spawns.
Crater City Old base interior HFFL
It’s another one of the buildings that you can get into!
Crater City Mid-access HFFL
When at mid, jump up to this ramp to gain access to the top most part of the center building of Impact.
Crater City mid-jump up HFFL
From there you can easily jump up to the top of the Food Court building (no jet pack required!).
Crater City New Town HFFL
And finally, this corner of the map I call New Town as it was the corner I finished last on the map.

I’ve got one more mini-map I’m working on, but that will be awhile. In the meantime, I hope you’ve enjoyed looking at these maps. If you like them well enough, send 343/HaloWaypoint a message saying so and maybe we can see one or more of them in matchmaking. You can tweet them at @HaloWaypoint.

Introducing: “Canyon” a mini-slayer map for Halo 4.

Here is the third mini-slayer map I let 343 know about via Twitter and a link to my fileshare.

This one makes use of the actual Ravine between the grassy and Forerunner sections of the map. I went as low as I could go without triggering the soft kill zone on this. Thus you will see mist throughout the map as you play on it.

Here is Canyon

Canyon top view HFFLIt’s safe to say that you can’t go outside of the map here. Only one way and that is by Red Spawn. Venture too close to that edge though and you’ll meet an immediate KILL ZONE. Also, you can’t go TOO high or you’ll hit another kill zone. All buildings are okay though. So feel free to jump on top of them and rain bullets from above!
Canyon Red Spawn HFFL
Red Spawn’s location.
Canyon Blue Spawn HFFL
Blue Spawn also has a ramp for access to the walkways. You’d think this might have a tactical advantage, however during testing it didn’t seem to make much of any impact at all.
Canyon Ramp HFFL
Another ramp, this one a little closer to mid.
Canyon Walkways HFFL
I included these walkways as I wanted to give the ravine city a feeling of having an “L” train. That’s an elevated train. (And a GREAT classic Jazz song)
Canyon girders HFFL
Yep, you can get in between those girders by red spawn. Just don’t go out beyond or you’ll hit that kill zone I mentioned earlier.
Canyon Food Court HFFL
I wanted to add something more with this map by allowing players to go “inside” of the buildings. This is one of two you enter on the map.
Canyon mid access HFFL
This is the other. It’s easy to gain access from above.
Canyon mid access 2 HFFL
However, when exiting you will need to crouch. Even though it appears you8 can clearly walk through. It’s a matter of the software reading you being a full sized Spartan even though visually you aren’t.
Canyon Multilevel HFFL
This view shows the many levels you can get to on Canyon. Lots of play space on the main ground level, but if you like more warfare up and above, there are plenty of places to choose from.
Canyon multilevel 2 HFFL
Another view of the many levels of playspace on Canyon.

This map has several more places to hide in it, but with grenades, well, I suggest you keep a move on.

Introducing: “Asteropolis” a mini-slayer map for Halo 4.

With mini-slayer coming to matchmaking in the action sack playlist (and only having one map for it), I submitted my maps to 343 via a link on Twitter.

I made use of Impact’s lesser Asteroid for this map.

Here is the second of my four mini-slayer maps.

This is Asteropolis

Asteropolis Top view HFFLHere is the top down view. Red and Blue initial spawns are marked by lights of the same color. The red line denotes the map’s boundaries. Go on top of that wall and BAM, kill zone!
Asteropolis Red Spawn HFFL
A closer look at Red Spawn. This is the Spaceport of the city.
Asteropolis Blue Spawn HFFL
Blue Spawn. Nothing special to note. It’s just opposite of Red Spawn.
Asteropolis Pool HFFL
Near mid of the map, I created a reflecting pond..er Pool.
Asteropolis mid or crossroad HFFL
The middle of the map brings you to the crossroads or the major intersection of roadways on the map.
Asteropolis landing pad HFFL
A mini-Pelican is perched atop this landing platform.
Asteropolis Alley HFFL
Behind and on the ground is the alley way behind the building with the landing pad on it.

There’s lots of little nooks and crannies here to hide around. However, get on top of the buildings and you can zoom in on just about anywhere on the map.

Introducing: “Hydro” a mini-slayer map for Halo 4.

Friday I reposted the text from HaloWaypoint.com regarding the matchmaking updates coming tomorrow (Mon 6/17/13).

Within that there was news of a new Action Sack gametype called “mini-slayer.” The gametype has been around for a few months but only as a modded gametype. I saw the opportunity then to make maps for these mini-spartans and replying to Waypoint, told them I had FOUR maps ready to go if they’d like to have a look at them for consideration into that new gametype. They said YES! And so I proceeded to upload them to my fileshare. (I had to make a few minor tweaks) They are on there now if you folks should care to take a further look at them. You can check out my fileshare GT= HaloFanForLife1. Any map ending with “MS” are maps for Mini-Slayer. I have a fifth in development.

In the meantime, here is the first I’m showing in pictorial format. I’ll try and get a walkthrough vid up in a couple of days.

I give you: Hydro

Hydro top view hffl

Here is the map as seen in forge from the top down. There’s actually a slight bit more near the bottom of the picture that I couldn’t get in as I was as high as I could go to take this shot. This obviously is on Ravine and makes use of about 1/3 of the grassy side of the map. Normally that would not be big enough for a 4v4 map. However, since this is mini-slayer we’re talking about, it’s PLENTY big! The red line shows the map’s boundaries.

Hydro Blue Base-Initial Spawn hfflAt the rock wall is where the blue team initially spawns.Hydro Red Base-Initial Spawn hfflOn the ledge near middle left is where the red team initially spawns.Hydro ONI-Base hfflHere we have one of the cool features on the map. It’s a small ONI/INSC base. Compelte with a base wall, several small buildings, a Pelican that has landed, and the Oni symbol.
Hydro Tunnel hffl
Next to this is a roadway that leads to a tunnel. You can’t access the tunnel as that is out of bounds for the map. Oh I should also state that you do NOT want to go over those walls. That’s a KILL zone!
Hydro Ramp hffl
Here’s the ramp that goes up to the tunnel.
Hydro Stadium hffl
You know a city has made it big when they have their own stadium!
Hydro Downtown hffl
The downtown area is CHOCK FULL of buildings that you can run around, jump on top of and so on!
Hydro River hffl
Here is the city’s modest waterway. Initially I had shields, but of course people would camp UNDER it when I tested this, so I took that out and am using a Grid instead. Not as “watery” looking as before, but keeps the camping out of that area!
Hydro Hydro plant hffl
And finally the Hydro Plant that the map is named for. Note my little mini-me on top of it!

I’ll be showcasing another one of the four maps later today. Then the other two completed mini-maps tomorrow.

Here’s hoping 343 likes these maps enough to put one or more of them into the Action Sack/Mini Slayer playlist!

Anonymous Xbox engineer explains DRM and Microsoft’s Xbox One intentions

Take this with a grain of salt folks! Oh and it has language in it that is NSFW or children.

http://www.neowin.net/news/anonymous-xbox-engineer-explains-drm-and-microsofts-xbox-one-intentions

You know, I get the whole wanting to make developers more money than Gamestop. Thus having to check in once a day to make sure you haven’t sold your games to GS. But for the rest of us who are not prolific game sellers or buy used games, having to check in once a day kind of sucks. Not to say a waste of electricity also. Mind you, I usually game nearly every day anyway. But there are those times when I DON’T game every day. My set-up is in the basement with my Halo collectibles. While it’s easy enough to get to, I still think it’s a pain in the arse to have to trapes myself down there just to check in when I have no intention of playing on a given day.

I totally get that MS wants to bring what it thinks is ground breaking tech to gaming. Yes, some of it is, but that Kinect virtually always having to be on IS creepy. It’s the “seeing eye” that NOONE really wants to have in their house. Yes, you can turn it off, but then you turn off certain capabilities the XBone can give you. Just way too many catch-22s if you ask me.

I just hope that Microsoft backs away from the every 24 hours thing. Maybe once every 72-96 hours. At least in that time if your power goes out the majority of people get their power back on in that time frame. If not, then you’ve got a lot of other much more important things to worry about than gaming. Still, there needs to be something developed for those who just can’t have internet service. Specifically, I’m talking about the military. Those folks defending your rights should be able to game when they get some downtime without having to worry about connectivity.

I really hope MS finds an answer to all of this and soon so we can get back to the fun of gaming and not worry about the “console” wars.

Halo Mega Bloks Electronic Pelican minifigs fully revealed!

I totally called this way back!

Not only are we getting an electronic Battlewagon Knight, but we’re also getting “NOT-Palmer”, “NOT-Grant,” and “NOT-Hoya”!

Minifigs from new Electronic Pelican-HFFLwm
I’m SO stoked for these figures! WE’ve already had a Spartan Solider (green) that could be Demarco) and we’ll be getting Red Recruit in another set. Than can stand in for Thorne. This only leaves Madsen to be made!

That Knight is badd ass! Revealing skull AND electronic! OMG, I think I just peed myself a little, LOL!

New Mega Bloks Halo Collector’s Edition Pack

This just popped up on Target.com today. I want to thank reader Thomas Bradford for sending me the info.

So here is the new set:

Mega Bloks Halo Collector's Edition Pack

This is listed on Target for $20. That’s a STEAL folks. Considering the blind packs of minifigs cost between $3-3.50, thebreak down of figs in this set is only $2.50, plus they are very well painted (and 3 GOLD spartans!).

I definitely was a set of this!

Brutes in Halo 5? A quick discussion.

I’d LOVE to see Brutes back in Halo again. Be they enemies, whether or not with the Covies again, or even as allies.

Can you imagine being able to play as a Brute co-op campaign like you could as an elite in Halo 3? AWESOMESAUCE!

Okay, yes, I know all about the great schism. So having loyalist Brutes would likely be out. I just can’t see them working along side Elites anymore.

The too could be a rogue faction. Now that they are a space faring race again, we could see a change in their behavior to allow them to develop in the field of science. A long shot yes, but they did once attain space flight before fighting amongst themselves brought them back to a pre-industrialized age.

I can see it being plausible to have them as playable Co-op characters. Having them as allies would give your campaign team some more muscle. Imagine being able to play as a Brute Chieftan? WOW! Even if they are NPC (Non-playable characters) instead, I still would like to see them back in Halo. I wonder how 343 would alter them? Really, they are pretty decent in Reach. Halo 3 was even better, IMO. So somewhere in between would be fin with me. Just for gawd sakes don’t make them look TOO ape-ish.

As for how they would fit into the story of Halo 5? Well, considering we know there are Brutes living among humans and other former Covenant races on Human controlled worlds, while it might seem far-fetched, I think it’s in the realm of happening.

So what do you folks think? Want to see Brutes back in Halo? How do you think they would be implemented? Enemy? Ally? Playable or not?

I’d like to hear your ideas on this too!

Halo 4 Matchmaking Update: 6.17.13

This Monday, several updates are coming to Halo 4 Matchmaking. In Spartan Ops, we’ll be showcasing a Designer’s choice medley, SWAT will be updated with new game types and maps, the brand new game type Mini Slayer will be premiering, Team Throwdown will be updated to the most current tournament settings, and more. Check out the full details of the update below.

In SWAT, we’ve added two new Slayer game types. These game types will add new ways to rack up absurd amounts of headshots and good times. Because they are new, we will be offering them exclusively in the third voting slot and keeping an eye on the voting data to see which are most popular. The game types and settings are as follows:

Forerunner SWAT

· Starting weapon: LightRifle
· Secondary: Boltshot
· Pulse Grenades
· Infinite ammo
· No weapons on map (Standard SWAT maps)
· No Armor Abilities
· Regular map rotation

Covenant SWAT

· Starting weapon: Carbine
· Secondary: Plasma Pistol
· No grenades
· Infinite ammo
· No weapons on map (Standard SWAT maps)
· No Armor Abilities
· Regular map rotation

Mini Slayer is a brand new game type that will be added to Action Sack. This mode has only been played by 343 staff and some lucky studio visitors, and we are excited to premiere it this coming Monday. The Spartans are scaled smaller than normal, but the weapons are normal size, creating fun, hectic, and often hilarious game play. The game type will be available exclusively on the map “Rail” at launch, and the rules are as follows:

· All Spartans are mini!
· All players have the “Mobility” tactical package
· All players spawn with Assault Rifle
· Killcam disabled
· Melee disabled

Team Throwdown, our premiere competitive playlist, has been updated to Gh057ayame’s “v4” settings. These updated settings include altered weapon and power-up locations, optimized spawn points, and a new 11-game type layout that will be found in the playlist. All “TD Pro” game types have been removed from the playlist – these new settings will occupy all three voting slots come Monday.

· Abandon Team Slayer
· Adrift CTF
· Dispatch CTF
· Haven Team Slayer
· Haven Extraction
· Onyx Team Slayer
· Simplex Team Slayer
· Simplex CTF
· Skyline Team Slayer
· Skyline CTF
· Station 9 Extraction

In Big Team Slayer Pro, we are disabling the killcam and enabling motion trackers. We will continue to monitor community feedback regarding these decisions.

In Spartan Ops, we’ll be featuring a Designer’s Choice medley from 343 Industries designers Jayce Diaz and Matt Geer. The line-up for Spartan Ops Matchmaking is as follows:

· Episode 7, Chapter 2: Home Field
· Episode 8, Chapter 3: Lancer
· Episode 2, Chapter 3: Hacksaw
· Episode 9, Chapter 1: The Search for Halsey
· Episode 9, Chapter 5: The Hammer

Lastly, we’ve fixed up the Shutout version of Team Snipers to ensure that there aren’t any weapon spawns and balanced the Warthogs on Meltdown. We hope you enjoy these updates and new game modes! Be sure to hop into the War Games feedback section to share your thoughts with us. See you on the virtual battlefield!

HFFL: Alright! Finally we are getting Forerunner and Covenant SWAT! I’m already maxed on the Carbine and less than 250 away from max on the Light Rifle…However, getting one shot headshot kills with the Boltshot and Plasma Pistol, HELLS YEAH! Time to work on those commendations boys and girls! Not to mention if you still need Pulse Grenade kills.

Mini Slayer huh? Funny, I’ve been playing that for MONTHS now. In fact I have no less that FOUR maps I made specifically for that gametypes. Hmm, I wonder if I can get 343 to put my maps into rotation for this gametype… I’m happy to see it coming. Now to look up that map variant!

Team Throwdown..meh, I think you all know I don’t go into this playlist. But for those that do, there are plenty of changes.

BTB Pro (Why is this even in matchmaking?) now will have disabled killcams and enables motion trackers. (Hmm, so it’s practically back to regular BTB, just without abilities)

Spartan Ops is Designers choice that week. I wonder if I can convince BS Angel to let me pick the chapters one week. That would be SO cool.

All in all some pretty good updates, especially SWAT. And I’m excited to play mini slayer (without using someone else’s modded gametype to do it).

Halo Xbox One isn’t Halo 5, says Microsoft (Really??)

According to an article on OXM, the Halo trailer we saw from E3 isn’t Halo 5 (well not named that way yet…)

The Master Chief cameo in Microsoft’s Xbox One conference was not Halo 5, Microsoft’s Phil Spencer has told us, but more a commitment to having the game out next year and at next year’s E3. ”We haven’t named the game yet,” comments Spencer.

“If you look at Halo traditionally, whether it’s bringing monks on stage or doing a nice piece around where the story is, we usually have two E3s with the game,” he told us. “We introduce the game and then give more detail, so you can see this is a strategy that has worked for us before. 343 came up with a nice piece they wanted to show, and people who’ve finished Halo 4 know where Master Chief is with his journey. The end of that game was a difficult time for him and his relationship with Cortana, so now he’s searching.”

It’s also an opportunity for Halo guardians 343 Industries to show off the tech that it’s been working on for the new Xbox hardware – something that’s been occupying the minds of many developers in the last couple of years.

“They wanted to show some technical details. The investment with the engine on Xbox One, 60FPS, really using the cloud and dedicated servers, they’re all points we wanted people to know that we’re really investing in the franchise.” And as for it being Halo 5?

“We haven’t named the game yet. It was just purely, “Halo is coming” and we wanted to give it a date. This was just more about confirming that 343 are making a real Halo game, a first person shooter, coming in 2014.”

HFFL: Really, Phil? Cause um, you know the next game sequentially is “5,” because 5 comes after 4. Well, at least where I come from it does. I just love how MS execs try to spin and double talk. Who the frack’ cares, Phil. It IS Halo 5. Naming it otherwise at this point would just be to spite we fans. Something you folks are already doing plenty enough of already. Just admit this is a trailer for Halo 5 and move on. It’s not that big of a deal. Really, it isn’t. I promise.
