This set some is a small box, yet manages to show the set quite nicely. 

Here are the contents of the box. I’m not sure why there dis a red “1” on the bag in the top left corner. The instructions do not refer to it as such. Meh, no biggie, just curious is all.

Here are all the pieces sorted out. Everything was account for and I even sorted them as they appear in the instruction manual. It didn’t take long at all to sort these pieces, just a few minutes.

As you can see from the above pic, the ghost comes together easily and pretty quick too.

This by far is my absolute favorite of any of Mega Bloks Ghost designs to date.

Here are the two weapons included. I’d have liked a painted Spartan Laser and a blue sword instead of pink. Those are minor points though. It’s not enough to detract me from having wanted this set. Oh on that note, I need to thank my wife for buying this set for me.

Here’s the white Elite Zealot. It’s a good figure. I hope Mega Makes this in Black eventually as it would be Jul M’Dama. Well that and he’d need a little hard light symbol above the helmet. Anyway, here’s hoping!

I’ve said before that I love this color for Spartan Armor. I call it “Shark Skin” though in the collecting community it’s referred to as Covert Ops. Regardless of what you call it, it’s a sweet looking figure. The fact that it’s Spartan Gabriel Thorne from Halo 4’s Fireteam Majestic of Spartan Ops, makes this a HIGHLY desirable mini-fig. The only Spartan from Majestic that needs to be made now is Madsen, the sniper. We got Hoya and Grant in the new electronic Pelican (which I reviewed HERE) and DeMarco is the ultra rare mini fig in Series 8 of the blind pack minifigs.

These were the parts left over. Not much could be built from that, so they went into my spare parts drawer.

Summary: This is a very good small set. Quick and easy to build. You can be playing and/or displaying it in about 10 minutes. The ghost is the best design Mega has ever made for the ship.

Overall Rating: I give this set 9.5 out for 10 medals. Ever so minor is that pink energy sword. I’m just not a fan of that color. Otherwise, everything else in the set is great!

All of the micro-fleet sets to date have this same style package design. It shows off the collectible helmet nicely as well as the figure, micro Mantis and micro shade turret.

Such small piece, yet they make for an incredible Micro Build…

Above is the micro Shade turret. Given the scale size, Mega did an excellent job of design with this!

The “head” and chassis of the Mantis. At this point two points of articulation have been designed into this. One being a waist swivel and another to bend just under the head.

Legs are built, put on, then arms are built. Each leg has an amazing FOUR points of articulation to them. That’s fantastic for a micro build!! Each arm has THREE points of articulation!

The micro-Mantis is built and ready to wreak havoc on the battlefield!

Here is the Mantis in it’s crouching (undeployed) stance vs it’s fully deployed stance.

Orthogonal views of the Mantis. At full height it’s right around 3″ tall. That’s a full inch taller than the mini figures.

Here’s the Silver Mark VI in orthogonal views. Nicely painted mini fig. Love that Incineration canon! Tons of detail there.

The Shade turret in orthogonal views as well. I particularly like the wine color of the pieces. It matches the color of both the Revenant (which I review here) and Spectre (which I reviewed here) sets.

Summary: This is a fantastic little micro build set. I had fun building it and seeing how the articulation came together for the Mantis. Without a doubt THIS is my all time favorite micro-build, not just of Mega Bloks, but ANY building block toy.

Overall Rating: I give this set 10 out for 10 medals.

With my coverage of New York Toy Fair coming to a close, I’ve still got Mega Bloks toy reviews to do. Here is the last of the 4 current Metallic ODST/drop pod series.

Mega Bloks Metallic Series ODST (Green): Set #97419

Accessories: 2X4 Blok with Metallic Green “Halo” printed on one of the long sides.

The packaging is the drop pod itself, which is a two-part mold. There is a thin sheath of clear plastic that surrounds the pod to keep it intact while hanging on pegs, while waiting to be bought. I just like how they look like hand grenades!  The metallic green paint looks great. It makes me think of this ODST as a cross over from being a marine to an ODST.

This pic shows the contents of the pod, as well as the pod separated into it’s respective two pieces. The minifigure does not come assemebled. It takes no time at all to put it together though. Same as the others, with the exception of a Magnum for the mini figure.

The insert sheet shows all four of the sets.

Finally here is the minifig close-up.

It has a great metallic sheen to it. I really like the teeth markings above and below the visor. The blok the fig stands on comes with it and is imprinted with the word “Halo” on it, in Metallic green ink to match the mini fig’s detail color. The green ink is a nice medium toned green. Not too light nor dark. These ODST drop pod figs are really well done.

Summary: No time needed to build this as it’s just the figure, weapon and its’ stand.

Overall Rating: I give this set 10 out for 10 medals.

For the money, this is a good deal. Consider that the single blind pack minifigs are $3-4, for the same or maybe a dollar more, you get the two-part drop pod. If you’re a fan of ODSTs then these are the sets for you!

A very cool new little entry into the Halo line is this Wombat. It’s also called an Osprey and more technically the F-99 Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle.

It’s a small set with an ODST and the drone itself. Depending on cost, this could be an army building set. I expect it to cost about $10-12.

Here’s another shot from a higher up angle. If you squint you can barely make out the name of the set being “ODST Wombat”.

Here it is display with the ODST figure underneath it.

This is a neat entry into the line as I said at the beginning. It’s a rather obscure little vehicle, but pretty cool nonetheless. Pics are from Figures.com. I cropped and color corrected them for clarity.

So will you get this set? For sure I want it. Now if I could just get more of the ODSTs themselves…

We’ve barely just got series 8 in stores, then series 9 is announced and now series 10!!! WOW, that’s a lot of Halo minifies to collect. (And I like it!)

With exception to the Grunt, Jackal and A/C Trans Brute, the rest all look to have the new articulation.

I’m really stoked for Palmer, Arctic Camo Gungnir and the translucent figs. I’m not at all disappointed in the rest though. Great army builders all!

This Halo 4 Marine weapons pack is different than the one release just a short time ago. The biggest difference is that it has the new articulated mini fig.

This is a GREAT set for several reasons.
• Army building Halo 4 style Marines
• Stocking up on mini-fig weapons
• Sandbags. YES, SANDBAGS!

Man, if I can afford it, I’d love to have 10 of this set!!

Is that Metallic Purple paint? Why YES it is!

What I really like about these pods is that they are MUCH less in price than the originals. I’m happy that Mega saw that many collectors didn’t really need to have the blok built pods. This allows Mega to crank out more pods and be less expensive, giving us more figures to collect. THANKS Mega!

We’re getting a 4-pack from Spartan Assault. However, given the character selection in this set, it really could be from anywhere. That isn’t a detractor, just a statement.

From right to left we have: Spartan Pilot, Brute Captain (awesome!) Gold Storm Elite, and an Active Camo Brute Captain with A/C Bruteshot (shown upside down in the pic, LOL). It’s a nice selection, though I would have loved to have that Brute Captain (painted) to be in one of the blind pack series as I’d like to have 3-4 of it. This set should retail for around $12-14. Pic from ToyArk.com

Next we have the final Crawler needed to be made, the Sniper Crawler.

In this pic from ToyArk, we see that the set includes a Sniper Crawler, Binary Rifle, Light Rifle, 2 Pulse Grenades (never been made before!), a clear blue baseplate, and what I’m assuming is a Forerunner turret. At first I thought is was a Sentinel, but clearly by the design it’s not. I expect this set to retail for $7-8.

I definitely want 2-3 of those crawlers sniper sets! Now with the regular and Alpha crawlers also being done with Blue highlights, I think it’s only a matter of time before we see this one as well with the blue highlight treatment.

Additionally, there is a fifth Spartan in this not shown in the pic above. This pic from Figures.com shows the figures rearranged. Then additional one (Bottom middle), looks to be a Spartan Warrior. I’ll try and get clarification on that.

I’m VERY happy that we’re getting Fireteams. Now if only we could get Fireteam Majestic… Yes, we’ve been slowly getting them in sets, but they are of the older articulation. If I’m going to get these Fireteam sets, I want Majestic and in the new articulation.
