Wow, the UNSC Infinity. Yeah, you kinda had to guess we’d see her. And BAM there she is. Does that Frigate look TINY against her or what?!

The Infinity heads into Slipspace with an absolutely MASSIVE fleet of other UNSC capital class starships! What an amazing sight to behold! And here I thought she was a lone vessel headed to intercept the Forward Unto Dawn‘s distress signal. Looks like Master Chief and Cortana are about to get a LOT of company!

The imagery of the fleet heading off into slipspace reminds me heavily of the scene in Return of the Jedi where the Rebel fleet has amassed and enters hyperspace to attack the Death Star. Intentional or not, it’s a VERY cool comparison, IMO.

Quite a warning Cortana is getting. She hesitates to awaken Master Chief from his Cryo sleep… Doesn’t she just look BEAUTIFUL though? An amazing job of CG here and as mentioned previously she’s patterned from Mackenzie Mason the actress who did the physical work for her in Halo 4. She’s quite pretty herself, don’t you think?

And we end (or is it begin?) with where we left off at the end of the Halo 3 Legendary ending. Master Chief in his cryo tube with Cortana peering at him, reflected upon the glass.

Spine tingling!

While the series ends here, I ask that you take a look at one last “review” of Episode 5: Part 14 the end credits.

There are a lot of people who put some hard work and hours into this production. I want to honor them here and I hope you will too.

Now about that Forward Unto Dawn contest…..

Okay, what’s cool here is that when we were introduced to Lasky this is the shot we saw. This brings things back full circle.

We can see the scars of battle and experience here. Not only does Lasky still carry Chyler’s dogtags, but he still bares the Cryo wounds. Some even look fresh. Did he get proper treatment for his condition or has he found a way to live with it?

Time to go to sleep….zzzzz

This is a good segue from the past to the present. The transition is smooth and gets us back into the events that are to come (in just a few short days….)

Lasky, Sullivan and Orenski have made it. They’re on their way to safety. What now?

Everyone takes time to reflect upon what has happened as they watch the planet being glassed by the Covenant. Now this is a powerful image. On one side it’s practically still night, on the other it’s daytime, and in-between the Covenant decimating the landscape. Here is where I think a shot of the Pelican heading off into a nice early morning dawn would have been great. They just survived a horrific battle and the local sun is still shining. A new day has dawn as it will continue to, even though the planet is destroyed. Maybe a missed opportunity there. However, I’m still quite happy with this scene. The glassing of the planet is very important here and shows the ruthlessness that is the Covenant.

Kelly-087 and Fred-104 both unhelmet to the surprise and astonishment of the cadets. Sully asks how old are they. (Ironic since many fans were complaining about how young the cadets looked earlier in the series…) Kelly says it’s classified.

How about those CREEPY eyes? Okay, come on, who else wasn’t just a little creeped out by those eyes? Why are they like that? Just eerie and other humanly portrayed. It definitely makes a statement that these soldiers are different. Still human yes, but different.

Lasky now wonders about Master Chief. Is he as young as these other two? What does he look like under his helmet? Yeah! What DOES he look like? Honestly though, I almost don’t want to know. Especially if his eyes are just as creepy…LOL

Chief hands over the charred remains of Chyler’s dogtags to Lasky. This quickly shows Chief’s humanity as we see that he took the time to pick them up and now gives them to a person who cared for the fallen soldier.

Chief also takes the time to praise Lasky saying, “Good work soldier.” This pleases Lasky in more ways than we’re likely to know. As you watch this you can tell he’s pleased as he gets a slight upward curl to his lips as if to smile. He can’t quite do that fully though, given the gravity of what happened, especially just losing Chyler.

I really loved the way this scene played out. It seems like Kelly then Fred unhelmet almost as if to reward the cadets by seeing their persons. It also serves to show that they are just as young if not younger than the cadets, yet capable of so much.

Lasky lies on the forest floor. Is he okay? Sully and Master Chief look on. Okay, now one thing that does bug me that filmmakers do is show the passage of time in rapid success. It was just night for gawds sake. How does it just change THAT quickly to being light out? An early morning dawn would have been fine. In fact…well you’ll read in a minute.

Lasky’s okay and his fellow survivors are by his side. I have to say that I’m happy with who survivied. Sully makes a great character. So much wild speculation that he’s going to become a special super agent ONI officer or the like. Orenski is a true soldier. She got a little emotional in the last couple of episodes, to be understood as they were being invaded. However, she hard the guts to keep it together enough to make it through and even make a difference. I hope we see her at some point again, be it the books or games. I think she’d make a great ODST officer or Marine officer. At the time of Halo 4, I can see her being a base commander. Tough lady!

Chief points toward the extraction point. Now again, here it is changing time rapidly…Ah well. At least we can see the characters again clearly.

Yea! Another Spartan and it’s Kelly! And check it out, she’s wearing the Air Assault helmet! (or an earlier version there of) I like many of you, am SO glad this production included other Spartans. Not knocking Master Chief at all. Just glad to finally see other ones fleshed out.

And liftoff! The Pelican looks great. Again, another nice touch adding in one of the iconic ships from Halo.

With Lasky running out of time and the Hunter charging up another shot, something has to be done!

With some great dexterity Chief mounts the Hunter from behind. Note this last screenshot is almost exact to the freshly announced McFarlane HYPER limited edition Resin Statue. I posted about this earlier today. Go here to order site to check THAT out! Here’s a good pic of the McFarlane resin statue:

Chief thrusts the grenade in between the Hunter’s back worms and SPLOOSH, down goes the hunter. Take a good listen to the music in the background here. It’s the all too familiar Monk chanting from the classic Halo trilogy. A great homage to Bungie Musical Director, Marty O’Donell. Now that’s CLASS folks!

There’s one worm still alive, writhing on the forest floor. Master Chief quickly dispatches it with a stomp of his armored boot. Then proceeds to pick up the charred remains of Chyler’s dog tags.

This while scene by far is the most action pack scene in the whole series. This shows the strength, agility and bravery of Master Chief and even the bravery of an average joe in Lasky. This is one of those moments we were waiting for and makes you PROUD to be a Halo fan. Well it did for me anyway!
