When I first heard murmurs that Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo 4 were being re-mastered on a single disc, I, among many others (and over the past few weeks, possibly many of you) thought to myself \u201cno way.\u201d As time went on, murmurs turned into blueprints, but I\u2019d still hear designers, testers, and producers ask \u201care we really gonna do this?\u201d<\/p>\n

Yes, we are indeed going to do this.<\/em>\u00a0Fast forward a bit to earlier this year, and\u00a0I spot\u00a0several teams across the studio working on a project that would come to be named Halo: The Master Chief Collection. On one screen, someone\u2019s taking Cairo Station screenshots for our E3 reveal, on another, a 4v4 match on an early build of Halo 2: Anniversary\u2019s Ascension is being played over, and over, and over again to ensure that the map is just right.\u00a0At some point over the past several months, it began to dawn on me\u00a0\u2013\u00a0the thing that looked insane and overly-ambitious on paper\u00a0was\u00a0actually\u00a0becoming reality.<\/p>\n

As I sit here at E3,\u00a0I speak for many back\u00a0home\u00a0at 343\u00a0when I say that working on this project\u00a0has and continues to be something truly\u00a0special \u2013 not just as developers, but\u00a0personally for me, as\u00a0a fan of\u00a0Halo.\u00a0Whether it be countless late night matches of Halo 2 on Xbox Live, Legendary co-op runs of The Library\u00a0(yes, that\u2019s right), or\u00a0long-lasting\u00a0friends\u00a0I\u2019ve\u00a0met through Halo, there\u2019s a good chance that the games and experiences found in Halo: The Master Chief Collection are some of the reasons\u00a0why\u00a0we\u2019re all here today, talking about\u00a0the\u00a0games\u00a0and\u00a0the\u00a0franchise that we love. It is incredible to think not only about reliving many of these experiences, re-mastered at 60 fps and on dedicated servers, but also the new experiences that lie ahead for this year and beyond.<\/p>\n

Earlier today, I had the extreme privilege of being on stage with Bonnie, Dan, Neighbor, and Ghost to showcase an early look at Halo 2: Anniversary multiplayer.\u00a0Being here at E3<\/a>\u00a0to announce Halo: The Master Chief Collection, along with Halo: Nightfall and the Halo 5: Guardians Multiplayer Beta was a humbling experience for far too many reasons, and we hope you\u2019re excited about the journey we\u2019re all about to embark on.<\/p>\n
