Greetings to all, and thanks for stopping by this week!\u00a0Previously we covered\u00a0a few of the many bases that games com brought along. Now that the Deutschland dust has settled around these parts, heads are back down for the final push towards the launch of\u00a0Halo 5: Guardians.\u00a0<\/em>In the coming months we\u2019ll be beginning to ramp up our primer coverage of the next big chapter in the Halo universe, and we\u2019ll have plenty of inside looks at new lore that I\u2019m pretty sure fiction fans will pretty very excited to see. This week we\u2019ve got a new glimpse at the lore for two new War Games playspaces, and a couple community queries to clear up. Read on!<\/p>\n

EPIC MAP BATTLES<\/h2>\n

If you\u2019ve been paying attention to the latest media on our\u00a0Halo 5: Guardians game page<\/a><\/em>, you\u2019ve probably noticed a few playspaces that we haven\u2019t really talked much about yet. Fear not, though, as we\u2019ve got your universe context right here. Let\u2019s check out a couple of quick map descriptions for a new Arena map, \u201cThe Rig,\u201d and a new Warzone map, \u201cMarch on Stormbreak.\u201d<\/p>\n

THE RIG<\/strong><\/p>\n

Meridian\u2019s original inhabitants enjoyed the moon\u2019s temperate climate and fertile land for decades. But when the Covenant unexpectedly arrived in 2551, the world\u2019s impressive population and robust economy were suddenly laid low, glassed to the brink of extinction. Now, still clinging to the ghosts of commerce, mining platforms like this one scour what remains of the world\u2019s surface\u2014a tragically hollow attempt to resurrect the colony\u2019s past opulence and splendor.<\/em><\/p>\n

MARCH ON STORMBREAK<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Stormbreak mountain range is the broken spine of Kamchatka, mended a\u00a0 thousand millennia ago by the Forerunners’ godlike power. Shortly after Kamchatka’s discovery, the UNSC set in motion a plan to establish a military complex and power station to control the planet’s Forerunner sites.<\/em><\/p>\n

Q: What is the reason behind the atypical names of Field Master Re’gish Wamik and company commander Je’ddak Zule?<\/strong>– Ch00path1ng4<\/strong><\/p>\n

A:<\/strong>\u00a0While the majority of Sangheili clan and house names incorporate an opening apostrophe in their presentation, some have names tied to heroes, battles, and legends that harken back to the earliest ages of Sangheili history. These more ancient family names often retain the quirks of a more antiquated Sangheili dialect.<\/p>\n

Of special note, while Halo fans of heard little of Re\u2019gish Wamik outside of his appearance in\u00a0Halo Wars<\/em>, his military career with the Covenant is much more well documented by the UNSC, as Wamik would eventually become a thorn in humanity\u2019s side throughout the Covenant War. So much so that ONI\u2019s War Games designers utilized field data on Wamik to create a boss construct for Warzone scenarios to test Spartan operatives against in the March on Stormbreak simulation.<\/p>\n

Q: In the recent Blue Team B-Roll released over the weekend, we discovered that Kelly has an English\/Scottish sounding accent. However, in the\u00a0Halo: Legends<\/em>episode “The Package” Kelly has a more Americanized accent. I was wondering why 343i decided to give Kelly that accent? Was it a piece of lore that managed to slip through, or am I wrong myself entirely?<\/strong><\/p>\n

A:<\/strong>\u00a0There are several details of the stories told in\u00a0Halo: Legends\u00a0<\/em>that fall more under the realm of artistic and stylistic interpretation, many of them already widely recognized by fans. This includes certain aspects of character portrayals, the voice of Kelly-087 being one such example. The accent and overall \u201cpersonality\u201d of Kelly\u2019s voice in\u00a0Halo 5: Guardians\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Halo: The Fall of Reach\u00a0<\/em>animated series should be currently considered the \u201cdefinitive\u201d portrayal of Kelly\u2019s voice.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n
