\nEach of Mattel’s 12 inch Halo figure is in a tall slender box with the top half of the figure showing through a window. On the back several of the other figures are shown. Normally there is a thin clear band that holds the figure up higher in the box but, I got ahead of myself and opened it up first. So, I had to put the figure back in to get these two boxed shots. The two holes to the sides of the figure’s head in the cardboard are where the band slots in to.

A closeup of the head of the figure. It has a translucent red back portion of the head that allows for light to pass through to the front. This makes it look like the figure’s “eyes” are glowing. That’s a SUPER cool feature I did not expect!!\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Here’s the Promethean Sniper in orthogonal views. It’s also a little stretched height-wise. Though with this figure, it doesn’t look so out of proportion as the Spartans do. That said this the only thing I’m disappointed with with Mattel’s 12 inch Halo figs. I’d rather they be bulkier and not stretched tall. Still, these are very affordable toys. So I’m willing to overlook that, knowing the intent here.

The articulation of the 12 inch Mattel figures in comparison to the 6 inch ones is much less. I do need to point out that the 12 inch figures cost less than half of the 6 inch ones. Because of this, less articulation is acceptable. \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The Promethean Sniper is able to take aim with the Light Rifle.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Evaluation<\/strong><\/span>
\nSculpt:\u00a0<\/strong>Very good, except that the figure is stretched to fit the box and is a bit thin from front to back. The added translucent red pass-through in the head really adds to this figure as an unexpected surprise. 9 of 10 medals!<\/strong>
\nArticulation: <\/strong>While somewhat limited, there’s enough to get the figure into some cool poses. Articulated ankles would have really helped with this (and all of the other Mattel 12 inch figures). However, I’m keenly aware that the point of these figs is to put affordable toys into the hands of kids and collectors alike. 8\u00a0out of 10 medals<\/strong>
\nPaint Application:\u00a0<\/strong>There isn’t much paint detail here. The figure is dark grey and orange, with exception to the translucent red portion of the head. 9\u00a0of 10 medals<\/strong>
\nAccessories: <\/strong>The Sniper comes with one accessory, a Light Rifle. It’s a good sculpt and accurate to the game.\u00a09.5 out of 10 medals<\/strong>
\nPlayability:<\/strong>\u00a0The packaging calls for this to be played with those 4 years of age and older. Given the large size of the figure and accessory, I agree with that. However, the nature of the toy itself, being modeled after a mature rated game, is better suited for older children, in my opinion. I’d suggest 8 years or older. For kids it definitely makes for a fun toy. If you’re an adult collector, it looks good on display, whether in or out of the box. 8\u00a0of 10 medals<\/strong>
\nOverall:<\/strong> 43.5 medals out of a total 50 medals.<\/strong><\/p>\n

I can only imagine what a proper sculpted and articulated 12 inch figure would cost. If I had to guess, its would be in the $40-50 range. That’s not so affordable and likely would have those expensive figures sitting on store shelves. That’s not something stores want. And…believe me, you wouldn’t want that either as it would mean a very slow roll out of other new 12 inch figures or the end of that line.<\/p>\n

With that thought, I’m rather okay with the 12 inch figures as they are.<\/p>\n

Do I recommend this product? YES. If you compare the Promethean Sniper to the Promethean Soldier, this\u00a0Sniper<\/span>\u00a0is even better! This due to two things. One, the dark grey makes it more accurate to the in-game model. Two, the translucent portion of the head is a very cool feature!\u00a0<\/span>
\nThough the 12 inch Mattel Halo figures are stretched to meet that height and a bit thin front to back, they are still fun toys. They would be great for kids to play with and make for nice display figures for collectors. The cost is very low for these (again I only paid $8.44 for mine from\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>Was Mart), which is a bonus!<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
