Spartan Fred is seen through a window with some of his armor removed. You can also see the DMR, which is attached to the inside of the box, as well as the magnum, which Fred is holding. The Build-A-Figure Crawler Snipe back piece is partially hidden behind a graphic on the front of the box.The back shows all of the contents, as well as the other figures in Series 1. It also shows the corresponding parts for the Build-A-Figure Crawler.\"\"<\/a>Here’s the plastic tray with the figure, armor parts and accessories along with the instruction manual. The instruction manual is usually sitting behind the yellow cardboard insert (seen through the window above). Be sure to look there to find it.

As with the other Spartan figures from Mattel’s 6 inch line, all armor is removable!
\n\"\"<\/a>
\nI want to make note of one of the pieces of armor. The left shoulder armor is actually made of two pieces. I found this out when attaching it to the figure, as the smaller piece popped off. So be careful not to lose it.
\n\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Here is Fred unarmored. With one small exception. I was having a hard time pulling out the right hand. Not wanting to force it and potentially snap off the wrist joint, I elected to keep that armor piece on for this picture. This is not to say that is the case with every Fred figure though. If you get this figure, let me know if you have a similar issue, so I can make mention of that here in the article, later.\u00a0\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The articulation of the figure is awesome! You can EASILY put this figure into so many poses. You’ll see a few more poses later in the article.\u00a0\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Each figure from series 1 includes a Build-a-Figure piece of the Crawler. What makes the piece that comes with Fred special is that, instead of the Alpha Crawler back, you get a Crawler Snipe back. This coupled with the Crawler Snipe Head that comes with the Mattel 6 inch Spartan Kelly figure, you can convert your Alpha Crawler to a Crawler Snipe! Very cool!\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

As for accessories, there are two plastic pins (as seen in the small plastic bag below). These can be used to secure the DMR onto the back of Fred and the Magnum to his thigh armor. Each figure has these pins for similar usage. \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Evaluation<\/strong><\/span>
\nSculpt:\u00a0<\/strong>Excellent\u00a010 of 10 medals!<\/strong>
\nArticulation:\u00a0<\/strong>This figure has articulation that now fairly standard for Mattel Halo figures. Which is to say, EXCELLENT!\u00a010 out of 10 medals<\/strong>
\nPaint Application:\u00a0<\/strong>The paint on Fred’s armor has a nice sheen to it. The head in particular has some great paint apps to it.\u00a09.5<\/strong>\u00a0of 10 medals<\/strong>
\nAccessories: <\/strong>The figure set includes Fred’s standard DMR and Magnum. Spot on. 10\u00a0out of 10 medals<\/strong>
\nPlayability:<\/strong>\u00a0Lots of posing possibilities. What you’ve seen in the article is only a very small sampling of poses this figure can accomplish.\u00a010 of 10 medals<\/strong>
\nOverall:<\/strong> 49.5\u00a0medals out of a total 50 medals.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Do I recommend this product? Absolutely! He’s a member of the Legendary Blue Team. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Do yourself a favor and buy him if you can find him. He’s a bit harder to come by now as he was (along with Kelly) an expansion on series 1, which came a few months after the original figures from series 1. I can’t help but mention again that the posing, due to excellent articulation, is really fantastic. Buy one and see for yourself!<\/span><\/p>\n
