The front of the package shows the set on display. The back of the box touts the set shown at actual size. It also shows the Energy Sword set. Also a Target exclusive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the box you get an instruction manual, 1 MCX bag and 6 numbered bags.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Okay, let’s get into the build!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Below are the pieces for the MCX bag as well as bags 1 and 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We begin by making the buildable base for the set. It’s really quite simple. Four large translucent blue plates are locked together by a series of black bloks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

We then flip it over and cover the top side with mostly black tiles.The few areas with studs revealed are for posts that hold aloft the rest of the set, as well as the nameplate for the set itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here are those posts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The nameplate is in place. That post at the front is not part of the structure that holds the set up. Instead, it’s a portion of the ring that is separate and has yet to be put into position, per the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next we build a series of repetitive sections that will form hinge sections (at left in black) and the outer walls of the ring (at right in sliver).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bags 3 and 4 pieces are sorted out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

I need to make special note here that the section circled in red is offset. This meaning it connects to the circles on the under side of the large baseplate, instead of the normal way. This is important for how the three main ring section clip together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The inner section of the first main section of the ring is complete. I like how Mega used those ridged pieces to act as the columns seen in the campaign preview. Nice use of parts! As well, the tiny green slim cones are used here as trees. Again, a nice touch for a micro scale set.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The underside of “section 1” has a corresponding connecting pin that will eventually attach to the base.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Section 2” has a lot of terrain in micro scale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The outer ring side of section 2 has a connecting pin as well. Also of note, the baseplate with this section is 2 stud longer than sections 1 and 3. This helps to join all sections more seamlessly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bags 5 and 6 are sorted out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hmm, what is that mysterious white speckled structure in section 3 of the ring?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the outer ring side of section 3. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With all three major sections built, it’s now time to connect them!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The series of clips works quite well here and the sections are snugly fit together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here are orthogonal views of the Forerunner Ring Installation set. You can see at bottom both left and right how the pins attach to the posts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here are the pieces I had leftover. Quite a lot. The good thing here is, if I get another of this set, I can use these to build different topography on the other set’s ring sections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
