Halo 5 Guardians Controller Configurations

There are 10 different controller configurations to choose from in Halo 5 Guardians. Which will you choose??

With the addition of Smart Link, Issue Orders, and Tracking, Halo 5 Guardians needed to have a robust menu of choices for controller configurations. Your favorites have returned of course. However, they have arms additional buttons to press due to the add-ons.

Let’s take a look at each config (click to make graphics bigger):

Default
HaloDefault
Hmm, this one seems a little confusing for me. But I’m used to a couple other controller settings.

Southpaw
HaloSouthpaw
For those that fight with settings switch to the other hand, here is your config.

Recon
HaloRecon
This one might be my choice. It’s pretty close to the configs I’m used to for Halo. Though the placement of the ‘Switch Grenade’ button isn’t optimal for me.

Green Thumb
HaloGreenThumb
Hmm, does anyone use this? None of my friends that I know of use this config.

Boxer
HaloBoxer
I’m so used to firing with the right and tossing nades with the left, not to mention melee on the right. I don’t think I could get used to this one.

Bumper Jumper
HaloBumperJumper
Okay, I’ve tried this in the past and never quite got the hang of it. However, Halo 5’s config looks like something I might just be able to get used to.

Halo 4
Halo4
This is another I might possibly use. Again though, the Switch Grenade just isn’t in a post I’d like it to be.

Fishstick
HaloFishstick
This one is another odd choice for me, personally. I’m too used to using the right stick for crouching.

Pashooter
HaloPashooter
Well just as the bottom line says, “Green Thumb with crouch and sprint swapped.”

Helljumper
Helljumper
Interesting, though again for me, I can’t quite get used to the right thumbstick for melee.

So after going through all of these, I think I am either going to go with Recon or Halo 4, for my config.

  1. What configuration did you use for Halo 4? The default in that game had grenade switching on the d-pad.

I never got used to Bumper Jumper but don’t the pros use it?

As for melee with the right thumbstick, many other shooters have it there so it is understandable why 343i has many configurations with that.

I personally would go for default or Halo 4.

    • I honestly can’t remember. I haven’t played Halo for about a month now since I sent in my console for repair. (And NEVER got it back…But that’s a story for a different article)

      • I am sorry to hear that but judging from your recent posts, you seem to have a Xbox One again. So that’s good.

I have to ask though, what about your Xbox 360?

      • Yes, I do indeed have an XBOX One again. Still have the 360. Though, I’m not sure if I’ll ever use it again. When Reach comes to the One and IF the stats come with it, then I’ll play Reach there and finish up those couple of Firefight Commendations I want to get to Onyx. If they don’t port over, well, it will be a long term goal. Not something I’ll get to quickly.
