Regarding my comments during the Podcast…

You’re going to have the link to this soon. In the meantime, I want you all to know that I support the XBOX. Let me make that crystal clear. My comments during the podcast make it sound like I’m not. In actuality it’s a plea for Microsoft to learn what the perception is from the great public the difference between it’s XBOX One and the Playstation 4. The Sony conference at E3 did a great job pandering to the audience. They said all the right things. Even if that doesn’t win them this new console war, they most certainly won the first salvo. And this is all about impressions, first impression to be more precise.

Microsoft has to account for that and rebuff Sony/PS4. They need to come clean with some things, and definitely need to change other things associated with the XB1 prior to launch if they are to not just succeed but beat Sony/PS4.

I’m going to admit that Destiny looked pretty darn good. But I’m a Halo fan (for life). So that means for me, I’m sticking with Microsoft and the XBOX franchise. However, that doesn’t mean I have to like all the presumed hurdles we will have to jump through to be gamers on the XB1 console.

So bear this in mind folks should you listen to Podtacular’s podcast that I was in last night.

I want MS/XB1 to succeed. I mean that. But they’ve got a LOT of ground to make up, just to come even with PS at this point. I don’t just want that. I want MS/XB1 to supercede Sony/PS4.

Long live Halo and long live Master Chief!

  1. I´ve been an Xbox and Halo fan for more than 10 years now and I´d love for both things to be great… I just don´t see that happening now.

I didn´t like the direction 343 took Halo (I´ll give them credit for the story elements though), and what I heard, saw and read about the new Xbox is just terrible. Specially if I compare it to the PS4. Halo was the reason I got an Xbox in the first place, that and the great controller pad the Xbox has. Oh well, I guess I´ll just have to get used to the PS4 one for the time being…

I didn´t jump ship just yet, but I´m inclined to. Really MS what are you thinking? Manly tears have been shed…

  2. Hey Sal,
I was listening to the the live stream and in the chat while it was running,
(Macdaddy) I appreciated your point of view and completely agreed. It was so hard seeing and watching Microsoft keep pulling out their pistol and shooting themselves in the foot. It felt really insulting, and if you have seen Don Mattricks interview with game trailers Geoff Keioghly you would feel 10 times worse. That was just plain down right condescending to Xbox owners current and prospective future buyers. Halo fans like us want Microsoft to succeed because we love Halo , but after the last few weeks though…… Well lets just say I’m sure I’m not the only one who has thought, if it wasn’t for halo Microsoft can kiss my )&@’di. My mates and I were talking about and we came to the conclusion that in the end after both consoles launch Microsoft will eventually be forced to change their policy’s. Might not be as soon as we want but I would say by the end of next year they will be lagging that far behind, to stay in the game they are going to have to change. And if they don’t………not only are they going to bury the Xbox 1 but most likely Halo as well . So here is the question I pose to you Sal, I am going to be a Xbox day one edition owner , are you getting a xb1 on day 1 also? And Dusty, Brent etc if you know

    • I am NOT going to be a day one owner. Even if I could afford it, there really isn’t much incentive to be one. Sure, limited console number, avatar stuff. But is that REALLY worth it? Early adopters of new tech always have to deal with “bugs” in the system. I want to see those get ironed out first. Also, with regards to some of the policies tied to the XB1, if those don’t change it’s definitely made my mind up not to buy first day.
As I’ve said before, I’m only for the XBOX due to Halo. There are not any other games exclusive to XBOX that I care about. Other games I like are multiplatform so I could get them on the PS4.

I’m not going to be a Destiny player. As much as I love Bungie’s work and even have a friend and fellow alumni who works there, I can’t see myself investing 10 years into one specific game. (Yes, I know comparisons to Halo…however at least there is a new Halo GAME every 2-3 years) Bungie has said they want this to be a 10-year game. Imagine after those 10 years when the servers shut down on that game. People will be crying foul, even though they knew it all along. Also, with Micro-transactions, I can see people EASILY spending thousands of dollars through Destiny in that 10 years. Yikes, I don’t want to do that.

Also, I’ve found that I’m not so much a fan of MMORPG type games which is part of what Destiny will be. I’m not knocking the game. It looks great. I just won’t have the money to invest into it like I’d want to. See, if I was going to play it, I’d have to go all in and have a blog for it too. I’m a bit too tied into Halo for that. It’s why I call myself “HaloFanForLife.” Not Destiny Fan…. As far as Dust and Brent, I think Dust said he won’t be a day-1, Brent I don’t recall saying. But you’ll have to ask them to be certain.

  3. why is everyone think destiny is a ps4 exclusive, it is not…… it will be on the xbox.

    • Yes, it will be on the XBOX. However, it’s also been stated that the Playstation will have exclusive content that the XBOX will not. So then it becomes a decision for some to get a game knowing they won’t have the full content or not. That may have some impact on their decision to by which of the two consoles.
