Greetings to all, and thanks for stopping by this week! Previously we covered a few of the many bases that games com brought along. Now that the Deutschland dust has settled around these parts, heads are back down for the final push towards the launch of Halo 5: Guardians. In the coming months we’ll be beginning to ramp up our primer coverage of the next big chapter in the Halo universe, and we’ll have plenty of inside looks at new lore that I’m pretty sure fiction fans will pretty very excited to see. This week we’ve got a new glimpse at the lore for two new War Games playspaces, and a couple community queries to clear up. Read on! Continue reading

Halo Community Update

This update is from 8-14. I missed posting that and want to make sure everyone stays caught up on these. So I’m posting it now.

The following are reblog from Halo Waypoint:

BY B IS FOR BRAVO –

We have returned from gamescom – some of us with terrible jetlag, others with a mild case of the post-gamescom flu, and all with stories to tell. Whether it was talking with Halo fans who spent entire days at the Arena or Warzone booths, reuniting with friends that we had met in year’s past, or commiserating with fellow fans about the German heat, we had a blast hanging out with all of you.

Our pilgrimage to Germany also gave us an opportunity to show off some new, never-before-seen goodies, including a new multiplayer trailer, some new Arena tournament gameplay, and more. One of those mores, of course, is Halo Wars 2. Continue reading

Wie geht’s, Halo fans? By now, most of you know that the ever-epic gamescom convention is well underway in beautiful Köln, Germany, where hundreds of thousands of game fans are converging to check out their favorite titles and franchises. With no hint of bias at all, we’d certainly like to think that at least a handful or twelve made the trip to Deutschland with hopes of getting their eyes and hands on some new Halo goodness. While much of the Halo happenings at the show have centered around our competitive multiplayer experience, the fiction-focused certainly have plenty to chew on as well, so let’s begin! HUNTtheTRUTH season 2 starts recording!

Frank O’Conner let us know a few days ago that this past Saturday, the second season of HUNTtheTRUTH began recording!

Screen Shot 2015-08-24 at 9.04.49 AM

This is exciting news. Well, to me it is anyway. I really enjoyed the first season. Season 2 will feature Cobie Smolders (Avengers: SHIELD Agent Hill, How I Met Your Mother) as the lead character, Petra Janecek. This is a role she reprises from season one of HtT.

Season 2 runs all the way up to the release of Halo 5 Guardian!

If you’re reading this, it means that we’ve arrived safely in Europe for gamescom, and have found a charming café from which to post this transmission. We’ve snuck this very text through French, Belgian, and German borders in an effort to get it to your part of the world, and we’re glad that it too has arrived safely. In the paragraphs that follow, we’ll talk about gamescom, new development tales from the world of Warzone, the adventures that await within pages of a recently released short, and beyond. But first, let’s check in on MCC playlist and content updates. Continue reading

Welcome back, folks! Last week we dove fleet first into the brand new Halo tabletop game from our partners at Spartan Games. For fans of the stellar ship experience, Halo: Fleet Battles will be making an appearance this weekend at GenCon in Indianapolis. If you’re in the neighborhood, more info can be found here. Meanwhile around these parts, the Seattle skies and Lake Washington waters will be filled with a different fleeting demonstration, as Seafair brings its annual abundance of high-speed hydro racing and epic aerobatic action to a myriad of excited and awaiting eyes and ears. At 343 Industries specifically, we’re all heads down on a variety of different ways we hope to bring the eyes and ears of Halo fans just as much excitement and joy, whether it’s pouring into the production and polish of Halo 5: Guardians, or getting ready to share more news at next week’s Gamescom conference in Germany. Needless to say, we hope you enjoy what we have in store on all fronts. In this week’s issue of Canon Fodder, we’ve got a smattering of topics to touch on, starting off with a few of your very own burning questions from the Halo Waypoint Universe forum.

Playlist Update

Over the past few weeks, the playlist team has been reviewing playlist feedback, adjusting experiences, and building new playlists for your enjoyment. Team Action Sack is the newest of these playlists, and it’s available in matchmaking now. But we’ll get to that in a moment. First, what happens to Team Snipers?

A few weeks ago, we let you know that with the introduction of Team Snipers, we were putting rotational playlists on hold while we continued not only build new playlists, but also evaluate the current lineup and review player data to determine what was next for matchmaking playlists. Over the past few weeks, Team Snipers has unsurprisingly performed quite well. You like it, and we do too. In fact, it’s been one of the most popular playlists – here’s a quick look at how the playlists stack up against one another in terms of total unique players last weekend: Continue reading

Welcome back, fiction fans! Last week, we celebrated science and marveled at the human achievement of sending a 21st century spacecraft to Pluto. This week, with the release of the highly anticipated Halo: Fleet Battles, The Fall of Reach tabletop game, we celebrate the opportunity for fans to be able to command 26th century spacecraft in the throes of the human-Covenant War. In order to bring you the latest and the lore-iest news from the front lines of Fleet Battles, I caught up with a couple of the folks instrumental in bringing the epic ship-to-ship engagements of the halo universe from the depths of space to your awaiting tabletop. Let’s start with Creative Director for the UK-based Spartan Games, Neil Fawcett…
