Welcome back, canonballers. In case you missed it, in last week’s issue we answered several of your deep-diving lore questions, and one about moas. If you were too distracted by all the g-lore-ious info in our Community Q&A, you might have missed the fact that we also announced that the Second Story content for Halo: Nightfall is now available as standalone content in the Halo Channel. This week, we’re going to dive a little bit deeper into what this content is, and how it sits in the universe.

Welcome back lore-lovers, and thanks for joining us for a particularly community-involved edition of Canon Fodder. Last week, ship got real with the announcement of the upcoming Halo fleet battle tabletop game from our partners at Spartan Games. Afterward, we asked you to submit your burning canonical curiosities for clarity consideration. And submit you did. I got together with the Halo Franchise Team in a darkened cave and we carefully selected a few queries to answer from the well over 300 that were submitted. Before we get started, I know that many of you might often wonder, “Why didn’t my question get picked?”, “Why did you kill my particularly favorite group of characters?”, or “Where did Hamish Beamish learn his skills?” Needless to say, there are many factors that come into play when selecting suitable inquires including the desire to craft a compelling, enriching, and spoiler-free Halo experience, as well as the sheer amount of time it takes to answer as many requests as we possibly can. In the end, we hope that no matter whose questions we choose to take a closer look at, that each of you will find out something new, cool, and interesting that you never knew before. And with that, let’s get to it!

Canon Fodder – In the Loop

The following is a reblog from Halo Waypoint:

Keyes. Cole. Stanforth. Whitcomb. Harper. Hood. These are names that elicit memories of heroes who helped turn the tide against the seemingly irresistible might of the Covenant war machine. Incredible feats against impossible odds. Now, thanks to our partners at Spartan Games (not fitting at all, is it?), the next commander to pull off a legendary victory against a formidable fleet might just be YOU. As announced this week, 343 Industries and Spartan Games have teamed up to produce an exciting new miniatures game set within the Halo universe. While specifics regarding game mechanics and other details will be coming soon, we wanted to shed some more light on how this new entry will fit into the overall Halo narrative.

Canon Fodder – Beta Late Than Never

Some really cool trivia from Jeff Easterling (GrimBrother One) of 343 regarding the Multiplayer maps from the Halo 5 Guardians Beta.

Welcome back! Last week we looked back – way back in fact – into Halo’s past, charting the timeframe in which the Halo Array was fired by the Forerunners in a last-ditch effort to combat the ravenous and seemingly unstoppable Flood. This week, we actually look forward, and take a closer look at some details you might have missed out on between ground pounds and hat trick medals in the Halo 5: Guardians Multiplayer Beta. Personally, one of my favorite aspects of a new Halo game’s multiplayer component has always been exploring the new maps and playspaces. However, I was usually far less interested in where the rockets spawned than I was wondering what in the world a particular Forerunner device must have been used for, or what planet the map could be set on. This probably also explains my typically middle-of-the-pack-at-best performance in the competitive side of Halo, but that’s a whole different blog subject. Fiction fans have long been enamored with the myriad of locations that make up the map sets available in Spartan War Games simulations. Even though the Halo 5: Guardians Multiplayer Beta was just that – a beta, many of you have expressed a desire to know a bit more about the maps where countless Spartans sharpened their skills. If you count yourself among those curious legions, then you are in luck. Here are the descriptions for all multiplayer maps showcased in the beta.
