The following is a reblog of that article:

In a series of podcasts, the mythology of the Halo universe was thrown into tumult. What will happen next?

Greetings narrative-knowers! Welcome back to another issue of Canon Fodder. It’s been an exciting past several days in the ever-marching lead up to Halo 5: Guardians. Earlier this week we released new gameplay from the campaign mission “Swords of Sanghelios,” which contains quite a few interesting little tidbits that fans have already started picking up on. With the Elite homeworld looming in our headspace this week, I thought it might be fun to talk with one of the unsung heroes of bringing the Halo 5: Guardians campaign to life. You might have already seen her pop up in everything from our Halo story panel at SDCC 2015 to our recent “A Hero Reborn” ViDoc (both available on the Halo Channel!), but rest assured, in just a few short weeks you’ll be benefiting from 343 Industries Narrative Designer Morgan Lockhart’s hard work as you explore the upcoming campaign. Morgan was kind enough to sit down with us and share some pretty cool insight to the integration of story and narrative throughout every possible campaign corner. Here’s what she had to say! community-update-req-system-819c4757af2f42e581867a52ccd4d877

We gave you a closer look at the REQ System in Halo 5: Guardians. Josh told of inspiration for the new system, and you saw, for the first time, new assassinations such as Back Breaker, new weapon skins like the Bracer Magnum, Mythic items such as the updated version of the battle-proven Mjolnir ODST helmet, Helljumper, plus Linda’s storied Sniper Rifle, Nornfang, and more. You’ve gotten a small glimpse into what the REQ system holds, and more is on the way in the few weeks until launch. Also, if you haven’t yet caught Mister Chief in his first ever speaking role, or prefer your tutorials to come from trademark-avoiding and copyright-tapdancing Spartan alternatives, be sure to check out his REQ System tutorial here, which covers everything in under five minutes. Halo Community Update: Level Best

This is a reblog from Halo Waypoint:

BY B IS FOR BRAVO

We’ll talk about Halo 5: Guardians playlists and game modes, and much more. You’ll see more sneak peeks at the story of Halo 5, as well as things like the REQ System, Spartan customization, and much more. We know you’re anxiously awaiting these details and more, and they will come in due time. Before we move on, I wanted to extend a special thanks to those of you who have provided your overwhelming and tremendously helpful MCC playlist feedback on Waypoint, Twitter, and r/Halo – the playlist team is evaluating your input as they work towards their next update, which I’m looking forward to discussing in the near future.

Today, we’ll talk about Halo: Last Light, which drops in just four days, Warzone level progression, which will help detail the flow of a match, and more. Let’s get to it. Continue reading

The Halo Bulletin: Episode 24

This is a reblog from Halo Waypoint:

It’s been an awesome summer working on The Bulletin. We’ve traveled to some amazing places, met incredible fans, and shared our stories along the way. And today’s episode is a perfect example of this.

We head to the Oregon countryside to meet Jeremie and Alexis, the passionate creators of one of the most epic Halo costumes I’ve ever seen – a 12-foot Hunter. I loved hearing about their process and watching them work.

HFFL: I covered this when it happened, back in MARCH!

For Fresh Picks this episode you should check out Hunt the Truth if you haven’t yet. This is required listening to get ready for the launch of Halo 5:
Guardians and season 2 is coming soon so get caught up!

You should also watch Halo 101: Ellen Anders. I’ve been re-watching these after the Halo Wars 2 announcement to catch up on the story and I always really like Professor Anders, she kind of reminds me of a less-scary Dr. Halsey.

We’re at that time in development where we go heads down to support launch, but don’t worry, there’s still a lot of great content coming your way. The Bulletin will be taking a break but we’ll be back at launch, and we’ve got lots of exciting stuff to share in the meantime.

We’ll see you next time, on The Bulletin!

ISSUE 41canonfodder-9-10-15-6abe42550a464ed2a3986c19e9e6b00aWelcome back, story-supporters! Last week we gave you your first details on the upcoming Halo novel from Joseph “Please do the Grunt voice” Staten, Halo: Shadow of Intent. This week we’ve got a smattering of lore-laden topics to touch on, starting off with a few words from current lead writer on the Halo: Escalation comic series, Duffy Boudreau. Many of you have been following Duffy’s work quite closely over the past few months, as he’s brought fans page after page of new Halo story goodness, featuring lore loaded with deep implications for the greater Halo narrative. Most recently, Duffy has been responsible for penning “The Absolute Record” story arc, which helps directly bridge the gap between the events of Halo 4: Spartan Ops and Halo 5: Guardians. I sat down with Duffy to ask about his role in creating new fiction, as well as how it feels to take on such a mantle of responsibility. Let’s get started, shall we?

Community Update: The Light is Green

This is a reblog from Halo Waypoint: (And this one is a GREAT ONE!)

BY B IS FOR BRAVO

PAX Prime has come and gone. Many of you ascended on Seattle, and we prepared a preview of Halo 5: Guardians for your awaiting and capable hands. Warzone designers (in immaculate disguises) watched your first Warzone matches, got real-time feedback, and kept an eye on what was easily understood, and what may require adjustments – UI and player instruction, spawns, routes, sightlines, and more. We reunited with old friends – folks from GrifballHUB, r/Halo, HCS pro players, cosplayers, speedrunners, toy collectors, and many more, and also met new ones, including one gentlemen who played Warzone 17 times over the course of 4 days, waiting in line for over an hour each time. Sean, a special care package is on the way. Note: I almost wrote “car package” in the last sentence. This may have likely cost us considerably more money, and also my job.

Halo Community Update

The following is a reblog form Halo Waypoint:

BY B IS FOR BRAVO –

With less than 10 weeks until the launch of Halo 5: Guardians, teams across the studio are working hard to put the final polish on maps, levels, animations, UI, and plenty more. Final decisions are being made on game settings, sandbox balance, and more. Personally, I walk around the studio (appearing as if I’m searching for something or someone very important), peeking over desks, and getting way too excited about things like new armor, Forge tools, and more yet-to-be-revealed goodness. To keep said goodness going, our beloved admin team hosted a studio-wide dinner featuring the rare but ever-popular breakfast for dinner offering, which lead to smiles, copious amounts of peanut-butter-Nutella-bacon pancakes, and (unsurprisingly) full stomachs all around. Only later did we realize that this effort was a ploy to confuse the studio about the time of day. Said ploy was successful. Thinking it was morning, some of us went back to work. Most of us passed out with food comas.  Continue reading
