Whew, series 8 has barely been out and now we have pics of series 9!!! I want to thank Russell and Kevin, readers of the blog for passing me the link to these.

So let’s talk about these individually, shall we?

Ah good another Brute Stalker. Honestly, I wanted more of the blue version seen with the UNSC Cobra set (I previously reviewed HERE). However, I’ll take this one for sure! Nice color AND it has a gravity hammer. YES! Now I should be able to easily collect those hammers so I can finally make a Grifball diorama!!!

I am always up for more Grunts! I like the color of this little fella. Nice to have another wine color Needler as well.

HOLE EEEE SH…shucks!!! OMG, this is FANTASTIC!!!!! I LOVE Skirmishers. I’ve been asking and asking Mega to make these again. Now to have an Active Camo one to boot?!?
AWESOME!!!! Just a little curious why the weapon isn’t Active Camo as well. Not a detractor at all, just curious is all. I’ve got to have 2-3 of this fig. I’m betting it’s the Ultra Rare of this wave.

Sweet, an Alpha Crawler with the blue highlights. This is an excellent follow up to the regular Crawler and Watcher with blue highlights each in Series 8. 

Can we haz Recon? Why yes we can! I’m always game for Green Spartans. Though I do wish this was the “Not-Madsen” color instead. Hopefully we see him done the line.

Wow, we haven’t seen a Flame Marine in a LONG time, that I recall. Nice to have another one. I think it’s quite appropriate that it’s orange too. Kind of goes with the “flame” theme!

Yellow Security eh? Okay, I like the color. I’m just not a fan of the helmet. Too “BUG” for me. Still, I know a lot of fans who DO like this helmet, so it’s a welcome addition to the blind pack series.

Hmm, a Red C.I.O. Spartan and wait, what’s that he’s carrying???? Another Gravity Hammer. AHHHH YEAHHH!!! Grifball diorama here I come!!!

All in all, this is a very good line up for series 9. Excellent army builders in the Brute, Grunt, and Crawler. A welcome return of the Flame Marine. We get three Spartans. And the gem in the series to me, the Active Camo Skirmisher!

The packaging is the drop pod itself, which is a two-part mold. There is a thin sheath of clear plastic that surrounds the pod to keep it intact while hanging on pegs, while waiting to be bought. I just like how they look like hand grenades! LOL

This pic shows the contents of the pod, as well as the pod separated into it’s respective two pieces. The minifigure does not come assemebled. It takes no time at all to put it together though. 

The insert sheet shows all four of the sets.

Finally here is the minifig close-up.

It has a great metallic sheen to it. Note the teeth markings above and below the visor. The blok the fig stands on comes with it and is imprinted with the word “Halo” on it, in Metallic silver ink to match the minifig’s detail color.

Summary: No time needed to build this as it’s just the figure, weapon and its’ stand.

Overall Rating: I give this set 10 out for 10 medals.

For the money, this is a good deal. Consider that the single blind pack minifigs are $3-4, for the same or maybe a dollar more, you get the two-part drop pod. If you’re a fan of ODSTs then these are the sets for you!

I have in my possession a few small sets, two slightly larger sets and a large-ish set from Mega Bloks that I’ll be reviewing, one per day for the next 7 days.

I received six of those from Mega Brands themselves. The other I bought through a donation to the site, for which I will graciously thank the person who donated the funds by writing the review in his honor.

With the Nurenberg Toy Fair in full swing, Mega Bloks put up a pic on their facebook page of this cool set. The NMPD Hornet!

This may be just a prototype and is subject to change upon release.

I for one am EXCITED about this set! It’s Halo based, and much more into the lore of Halo, specifically New Mombasa, where much action has taken place in the games, Halos 2 and ODST to be more specific. Of course there will be figures with this set, though no picture of those have been released as of this writing.

The potential for more NMPD based sets is certainly there. I’m hoping for a NMPD Pelican!!!

Another set from MEGA Bloks upcoming 2014 Halo line has surfaced. I got wind of this from a Facebook post, thought I’m not sure who uncovered it first, so apologies to that person for not being able to give proper credit.

The set is an ONI REAP-X Quad Walker.

For those of you who collect Halo MEGA Bloks (as I do), you may recall last year being the introductory year for the REAP-X sub-line of Halo building sets. I reviewed the previous two sets here and here.

The Quad Walker marks the third set in the sub-line. So let’s talk about the image above.
Let’s start with the obvious, the walker. Since this isn’t a vehicle/mech seen in the games or as yet talked about in comics or novels, it may be a little hard for people to accept this. As a toy, however, it is fun. It’s certainly reminiscent of the Covenant Locust set from a couple of years ago.

The big difference is the front loading cockpit. The Locust set has the canopy opening from the rear. The toy uses that cool shark skin blue-ish grey that I like. As for the parts used to make this, there seems to be nothing new, just new in colors used. Now if this can transform into a hovercraft of sorts, that would be awesome. By the looks of the legs, that may be possible. Then it would deploy the legs to stabilize itself to use it’s cannons. Well, that’s the kid in me thinking out loud, LOL.

Next up, we have the gold Shade Turret. I’m glad to see another shade turret come out. The color looks nice. I hope they get to a green one eventually, as well, since that’s a game accurate color.

Now we take a look at the minifigs.

Again, another gold figure, this time a Storm Elite. Even though not game accurate, I do like the gold minifigs. It’s nice to see it comes with a storm rifle. The BIG draw in this set for me is the Blue Recon minifig. This is the “Not-Madsen” figure from Fireteam Majestic, of Spartan Ops in Halo 4. Well, at least, that’s what I’m going to call it. The Incineration cannon it’s holding is also a draw for the set as it’s currently not available (though will be in one of the upcoming micro fleet sets (see here – the set at the top of the pic in the link).

No word on price, but given the size and approximate piece count, I’d guess this to be in the $20-$25 range.

As I’ve mentioned before, sub-line not based on anything known previously can be risky. I’ve seen it in Star Wars, G.I. Joe, Transformers, and several other toy lines. However, the great thing about this sub-line and it being a buildable set is that YOU can rebuild it into something else entirely!

No word on release date for this set. Usually though when leaked images appear, sets are just a few weeks or sooner away from showing up on store shelves.

I think most of you know I’m from Pittsburgh. So this Cyclops having Black and Yellow colors is freakin’ AWESOME for me! The color scheme is such that it’s reminiscent of the Steelers uniform of old.

Look for this NOW. It’s actually been found on store shelves and may be found online as well.
