First up is UNSC Fireteam Rhino.

Breaking from the norm here for a minute. I need to thank one of my fellow local Halo fans. He got this and the Sierra Squad sets for me. It was a surprise. He said the store was having a sale, saw that I hadn’t reviewed these on the site yet and knows of the plumbing issues at my home that are causing havoc on our finances, so he picked them up for me. That I know of there isn’t any sales going on at the major stores, so I take it that he is just being very nice. A HUGE thanks Dave. I saved what I feel is the best for last regarding Halo Mega Bloks stuff shown at Toy Fair.
When I first asked what the name of the ship was, I was told it wasn’t to be revealed. Fast forward less than a day later and James Monosmith, Marketing Manager for Halo Consumer Products at 343 Industries, confirms through a post on XBOX that the ship is called a Phaeton Gunship. That’s a cool name and I’ll get into it’s possible significance later in the article.
Now, maybe I’m looking into this too far, but this design reminds me of a cross between the Terminator ships and the ship from the Matrix.
I got shots from many angles of the Phaeton Gunship, so by the end of the article, you should have a very clear view of what it looks like all around. Let’s get started!
This is a ship fans have definitely been asking for for awhile. It’s one of the few remaining from Halo Wars for which Mega originally had the license for, before they got the complete license for all of Halo.

Unfortunately, all but one of my full ship pics were blurry. We were in a hurry as the reps only had a few minutes to show us everything and this was the last set we went to. So this review will be scant on pics showing he full ship model. I do have a few close-ups of the features as well as Agent Locke. Read on!
Now here’s a set I know you folks have been wanting and waiting to see. It’s the UNSC Firebase. Once upon a time, a long long time ago…we got a glimpse of Mega Bloks proposed Firebase. Fans had mixed reactions to it. At the time, many fans balked the price of $199. Since then, we’ve shelled that much out and more for example the Covenant Scarab.
Mega Bloks listened to all of the concern regarding the original Firebase. So they nixed it. (to my disappointment)

IIRC, the hill background was just for show and not part of the planned set. Though I could be wrong on that, so don’t quote me.

Over the years Mega ‘parted’ the set out by releasing parts of the big set into smaller set. We of course got the Cyclops (many times over), the Troop Warthog, and the Vampire. We just needed the base. Well….read on and you’ll see what Mega is finally coming out with!
Mega Bloks is widely known for it’s expertly sculpted and very well articulated micro action figures. This year, we are getting PLENTY. They come in Multi-packs, Weapons Packs as well as the traditional Blind packs. There’s a lot of good figs coming from Mega Bloks this year, so let’s get to the pics!

Next up in my continuing coverage of Halo Mega Bloks are mid sized vehicles/ships. We have a new Gausshog and Banshee coming! Seems I was misled about the Banshee not being called that, or perhaps there will be a name change and it just couldn’t be said. Regardless, for now, since it looks like a Banshee, that’s what I’m calling it until we know differently. Keep reading to learn more about both sets and see the features they have.
