And on with the pics! (Click pics to make BIGGER)

The box art is good. I do like that the ODST displayed in the window is Dutch! We are SO close to having a complete set of the ODST squad from Halo 3 ODST!!!MB ODST troop pack BOX

Here are the contents of the box. You have two bags of pieces, 3 smaller bags for individual figures, and a tiny bag for the two sets of blue drone wings.MB ODST troop pack contents

Here are the pieces sorted out, with the figures built. Not including the 4 figures and a weapon they would normally come with in a blind bag, there are 28 set pieces.MB ODST troop pack sorted

The set pieces are very quickly built. One view from the front, then the back.MB ODST troop pack set piece

Click this to see better detail. The ODST with the brownish markings and skull on his chest is Dutch! The pics are a little off making the green one look taller. Rest assured, they are indeed the same height.MB ODST troop pack minifigs ODSTs

Since both drones are exactly the same, I’m only showing one of them here. (Strangely enough though, the one not shown below (but above) has green paint missing on one of it’s feet.MB ODST troop pack minifigs Drone

Here’s the set with figs in place. You actually get 2 sets of the transparent post and base. I chose to just show one of these.MB ODST troop pack FIN

Summary: The set has a very short build time. It’s easy to put together. The set is mostly 4 figures, with a few set pieces.

Overall Rating: I give this set 9.5 out for 10 medals. This set has good value at $16. Normally I go by the guideline of 10 cents per piece. With this set only having 102 pieces, you’d expect it to be just slightly over $10, not $16. However, when you consider that there are 4 figures, each worth $3.25-$3.50 for a total between $13-14, the $16 price point is spot on. This considering the 28 set pieces as well.

Why did I give it a 8.5 out of 10?
• There are only two nitpick things for me here. ODST’s traditionally carry SMG, silenced ones at that. So instead of a Battle Rifle, I’d have preferred an SMG. The other nitpick for me is more sandbags please! I’ll take the 1X4 brown tile pieces, but would have preferred one more sandbag instead. Again though, this is a personal nitpick.

Do I recommend it?  YES!! The is a great set for building up a squad of Green Drones. As well you get a couple nice baseplates. Dutch is the real draw of this set, IMO. Nice to see him made and in an inexpensive set to boot!

  1. Great review Sal!

    I’ll take ten…….

Seriously though, this is an awesome way to army-build some Drones!

And that Dutch is worth having ten of. 😀

    • Ha, well, I don’t know about 10. I do have 2 now as I got two of this set. The one thing I forgot to mention in the review is the lack of teeth on his helmet. Of all the other ODST’s, his was the unique one to have the teeth. Mega has put out a BUNCH of teeth helmeted ODSTs. Real surprised that they missed the golden opportunity for Dutch.
