What are YOUR impressions of Halo 4 so far?

Sound off folks. I want to know what you think about the game. Any and everything about it. Campaign, Spartan Ops, Wargames, spawning, weapons, achievements, commedations, ranking up, etc.

Let me know what you like, what you don’t, what you’d like to see added in, taken out.

Really, ANYTHING about the game. This is your chance to sound off here. I’ll be forward these to BS Angel at 343 as well as some of the devs. Your voice as Halo fans will be heard.

For the record I’m loving it. Just a slight issue with the lobby and joining games. Most everything else is good to great. Anything that isn’t is easily overcome or will be with more experience.

  1. First I’d like to say well done, they have preserved the halo feel and the new additions are awesome. The graphics are crazy I don’t know how, but they squeezed everything out of the Xbox. Last but not least of what I’m happy they have done is the attention to detail when it comes to the storyline.

Now to gripe, sense I’m a self proclaimed Halo bada$$ I started the campaign on legendary. Midway my controller died and while rifling through the cabinet I turned on the active 2 arm band by accident and could not quit the game. After returning to the last check point I continued to play until after two chapters I realized it wasn’t giving me credit for my progess. Annoying, yes and probably the only one on the plant to do this but it was mostly my fault.

Anyhow I’m almost back to where I was and still loving it, good job 343.

  2. It’s by far the best Halo game to date, and I’ve never said that before. It’s faster, fairer, and better in almost every way. Every weapon, vehicle, and character has it’s place. Nothing feels redundant (unlike a few weapons/equipment etc in pretty much every other Halo game). The Campaign also has the best pacing I’ve ever seen since Half Life 2. I’m so glad that they are acknowledging the expanded fiction now too. And the animation in both the cutscenes and gameplay is nothing short of amazing. Overall, the game is absolutely incredible, and my belief in 343 has not been betrayed. I knew they’d do it right. Props of Steve Downes and Jen Taylor for the greatest voice acting I have ever heard, in any medium.

The one major issue is that Campaign and Spartan Ops do not have Theater mode. However I’ve heard that it was due to time constraints and that they may add it in a future Title Update, so I’m fine with that. Another issue with Theater mode is that like Reach, you can’t get the footage to move in slow motion, as it jumps frames. I guess this is since the game is still partly based on the Reach framework, so some minor flaws still exist. But this is all very minor stuff.

I could talk about all the neat little hidden things in this game (and there are many), but I digress. This game is about the closest to perfect that art can be. Bungie created an amazing universe, and I can never thank them enough for that, but 343 has improved upon it in so many ways.

You are worthy of the mantle of the Halo universe, 343.

  3. What do you guys think about the soundtrack? I am a bit disappointed that the original theme was not included…
