I just got the box from MEGA Brands of their generous donation of prizes for the LAN:
There are a total of 45 of the minifig packets. One each will go to each paid attendee, while the rest will be given as prizes to trivia questions posted on HFFL from Sept 15-24. On the 24th, I’ll give away one of those Gauss Hogs too here on HFFL. The other larger sets are being used as prizes for the FFA tourney within the LAN.

Just wanted to give another reminder to all of those who have planned to come to the LAN that it is THIS Saturday. All details can be found at the tab above in the menu bar or you can simple click THIS LINK.
I’ve had 3 late cancellations. Folks, I need to ask that if you cancel, let me know ASAP. I don’t have the money to make up for cancellations, this is why I asked for confirming e-mails. If you cancel, I would appreciate if you still send the money for the admission as I’m under obligation to the business to pay for the number of attendees I gave to him after the registration date ended. I know things come up, so no worries. Just please do not put the burden on me.

Well the Halo 4 Global Championship is over and a winner has been crowned. This week we celebrate the finals of the competition in specific as well as the production on the whole.
As always we start out with the Halo Week in Review where talk about such subjects as:
• Spartan Assault gets new content
• Halo Mega Bloks toy reviews
• Legendary BRs coming into Infinity Slayer
• Ricochet on other maps
• PAX Halo happenings (other than the Championship)
• An interview with Dan Ayoub of 343 regarding Spartan Assault
We then get into the MEAT of the podcast where we discuss the Championship, the Elite 8, the 1v1’s, the tie and the epic tie-breaker for the WIN. Along with that all the other events happening during the live stream such as the musical acts, Rooster Teeth shorts, game trailers and more.
or download here: SoF 9-1-13
Speaking of one of the musical acts, I mention in the podcast about one of them specifically and the youtube vid I posted here earlier. Here that is again for those who haven’t seen and those who want to see it again:
Apologies for the technical difficulties. We’re still new at podcasting and working through these issues. I promise you we will get better and better as we go along. I won’t allow those issues to hold me back from the passion I have for Halo.
Thanks for listening and please if you have any comments, reply below!

So be sure to check back tomorrow here on HFFL where you can listen to and/or download the podcast!

It’s Friday and that means it’s Halo Fan Friday League. Come join me for Halo 4 matchmaking and customs between 8-10 pm EST tonight!
I’ve updated the Ricochet map I created and need play testors. I may even have the second Ricochet map done in time to test tonight.
Matchmaking playlists are always determined by the amount or people we currently have in the party.
Also, if you are interested in joining the HFFL Gaming Group, this is a perfect opportunity to get games in with me so I can get a feel if you’d be a good fit. On that note, that does NOT mean you have to be a stellar skilled player. That doesn’t hurt of course. What I’m really looking for though are those people who are TEAM players. They’ll do what it takes to win and not for instance camp sniper with active camo during an objective game just to get easy kills.
If you are interested in either/both gaming and/or joining the gaming group, send me a message over XBOX Live to my gamertag: HaloFanForLife1.
See you then!

On Sept 24, 2013, HFFL will turn 2 years old. To celebrate this, I invite you to a special daily challenge.
From 7-8pm Eastern time HFFL will be looking to start a new record. Most gamers to play in one specific Halo game in one hour. To do this gamers will only be allowed to game for a maximum of ONE MINUTE during the whole of the hour.
Please do not come back into the game so we can allow for more gamers to participate. The potential for this is 960 gamers in the same one-hour game of Halo if each gamer plays only one minute’s worth of time. To account for players dropping in and out of the game, the variance of time you will be allowed to play is 50-65 seconds. Any less time and you will not be counted as having participated. Anything more and you risk hurting the potential total number of gamers playing in this event. So please adhere to the time limit.
Now given this dropping out of the game, it’s likely we’re going to experience LAG. How that will affect the time, I’m not sure. So the game will be ended at 9pm regardless of actual playing time. To do this, I will be handicapping the potential amount of gamers by being the ONLY one to stay in this game the whole time. This is to also facilitate booting people out of the game if they are staying longer than they should be…
So with all that said, PLEASE get the word out! Message your friends on XBOX, text, tweet, facebook, e-mail, call, skype and whatever other method reasonable you can to tell them about this event!
I’ll have the party open during this game, so you can join in freely.
Search for gamertag: HaloFanForLife1 at that time and put yourself into the queue to join.
Let’s see what kind of record we can set!

I want to add that I forgot to mention Postgame Carnage Report in my thanks at the beginning of this podcast. So here is a hearty thanks to them as well for having me on their show last week.
I apologize here that I sniffled a bit through this. Hope to remedy that for future podcasts.
We’re looking into publishing this on iTunes. Once I get that set up, I’ll post that info here. For now you can listen on the blog or download it directly and listen to it later at your convenience.
Please let me know what you think of the podcast. bear in mind this is only our first attempt at this and we will get better as we go along.
Thanks again to Zach and Martin my two co-horts!

HFFL’s official podcast the “Spirit of Fire” will be recording tonight. This is the first of what we hope will be many and a long term Halo specific podcast.
Points of discussion will be the Halo week in review with special consideration to the Champions Bundle, then next the upcoming Halo 4 Global Championship at PAX, HFFL’s expanding network of Halo related content and community related groups, the first HFFL LAN and more!
Since this is my first time recording a Podcast, as opposed to guest appearing in other podcast, I’ll be doing the editing. I’m still new at that. In that respect, I hope to have the podcast available for download on Tuesday, hopefully sooner.
As we progress, we’ll get better, add music intros and outros, possibly some sound effects. We do plan on having this streamed on twitch in about a month from now. We just want to get used to podcasting a little, work out any tech issues and have our format fairly well down.
Please let your Halo friends know about this new Halo specific Podcast! tweet, e-mail, facebook, text, call, etc.! Please get the word out!!!

I was going to keep this secret until after my LAN party as I’ve been revealing so much about the expansions to HFFL. However, since I had the opportunity to be on the Post Game Carnage Report’s podcast. I made mention of it then.
The podcast is slated to be a mix format of new (the previous week in Halo) as well as any hot topic that may come up, and any future Halo related events, be they HFFL or community related.
After about an hour session with my soon to be two co-hosts (this after several weeks of talkign it over with one of the co-hosts then being prompted further by the other co-host), we came up with the format, responsibilities and the name. We had about a dozen names. One of the co-hosts, Zach, gave another name when all of the sudden it hit me. Spirit of Fire.
This is a perfect name for the podcast as it means a few things. The ship Spirit of Fire was lost in Halo Wars and drifts about. I feel that parts of the Halo community are like this at present and need to get back to being Halo centric. As well, the name denotes the FIRE (passion) that I have for the Halo franchise and the community at large.
So given all that, I based the logo for the podcast off of the Spirit of Fire’s ship emblem from Halo Wars. I think it turned out pretty darn good.
As for when the first podcast will be out, we’re working out technical difficulties with audio. We hope to record this Sunday, but it might be a solo act for now (me) until we can fix the audio issue. Further, once we feel comfortable with the format, we’re going to LIVE stream this over Twitch.tv. For now, I do have a twitter account for the Spirit of Fire (SoF) podcast. We can be found at: https://twitter.com/SoFPodcast or simply @SoFPodcast.
I’ll also be tweeting about this on my HFFL twitter feed as well.
Whew, as I said, LOTS of stuff being added to HFFL.
• Newly christened Gaming Group
• Soon to be forums
• Podcast
• Halo Ricochet League
• “MaC” Rounds web series
As well of course continuing with the bblog. So there is something for just about every Halo fan out there.
