So while checking my analytics today, I noticed that I was getting a spike in hits coming from Beyond Entertainment’s forums. I decided to see what all the hub-bub was about.
Here I come to find out, it was someone bashing me, calling me a troll, and more.
Now, before I get into this any further, let me say I have NO beef with Beyond Entertainment. In fact they locked the following thread before I even read it for the first time.

So…what did I do? Well, I registered on the site and made an introduction post where I answered his call for me to “grow a pair.”

Now again, let me state for the record, this is NOT anything against Beyond Entertainment. I’m just responding to a particular individual. In fact, I hope the Beyond Entertainment and HaloFanForLife can do some sort of shared Halo project in the near future.

Its not casuals that are killing Halo, its the idiots that say things like that and see a divide based on skills. THAT’S the base issue. Dont worry Sal… those that knock you are the ones who dont see the community as a whole, and those guys need to get with the program or get out.

Meh, doesn’t matter to me if he is or not. Just shows you why I’m not fond of the pro scene. I’m hoping after meeting Ghostayame at my LAN in a couple of weeks that will change for the better.
I don’t see where he got a lot of those ideas about you sucking up to 343. TBH a lot of what I read on your blog is your complaints on 343’s handling of the Global Championship. I’m not sure how that’s trolling, but hey, like you said at least that guy got you more visits to your blog!
Exactly. No this guy is just some stuck up pro who’s decided he’s going to hate on the average gamer just because there have been some features in recent Halo games that he isn’t so fond of. I gotta agree with you Gagnon, it ain’t us who’s supposedly ruining Halo it’s people like that who can’t keep thier mouths shut and accept that just because they consider themselves pros and higher than us normal gamers that the games aren’t going to be designed purely with pro players in mind. I really wound mind pro players as much if they were just polite and considerate not just to fellow pros but us too. Afterall we far out number pros in the gaming community.
Well said Gagnon. Couldn’t agree more. To me Sal ,you represent the voice of the Halo community that doesn’t get heard. If this guy nox lemon believes that you are a yes man and an ass kisser, not only is he Mis-informed, he is blind and ignorant aswell. In a sense this kind of forum thread is once again the reason that your site needs to be around. To voice opinion and truth without fear of criticism. I applaude you for tackling this guy head on . Thanks Kiwi and everyone. Really, I’m not looking to pick a fight with the guy. But he did want to call me out. Heh, didn’t have the bravery to actually try and contact me. I on the other hand did. If that doesn’t prove my “growing a pair” well, I don’t know what does, LOL.
There is no doubt that the last thing that anyone can call you is a suck up in any way shape or form if they read anything you have posted. You play is straight down the middle and are not afraid to call it as it is. While I never had much of a problem with pros in the Global Championship, I did agree that the problem with competitors using secondary accounts and the cheating was something that 343 needed to act on and dropped the ball on.
As to the concept of “casuals ruining the game” just because we may say that Halo 4 is a good game does not mean we are kissing 343i/Microsoft’s butt. If anything, it is more damning with faint praise. While many of us may not have started playing Halo until Reach, it does not mean we have no experience with Halo: CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, or ODST. Most of us have played them and we know that Halo 4 feels different than those made by Bungie. For the Halo franchise to keep being relevant it has to evolve. Does that mean forgetting the basics that made Halo? No, but it means being open to new ideas and concepts (Spartan Ops for one) that can help keep existing fans happy but also bring more people in.
In any game there are more “casuals” than pros. While the pro’s may have a large voice in the community, theirs is not the only one that needs heard. Keep telling it like it is Sal. We may not always agree but the honest opinions are the only ones that matter.
And now he wants to add you as a friend after all that. Is he bi-polar? “I hate being bi-polar, its awesome.” But seriously, this guy doesn’t seem to be that bright. And casuals ruining Halo? I’m sorry, I don’t think so.
