Halo Broken Circle (Novel) coming in November 2014!

Halo Broken Cirlce

Text blurb from 343:

Simon & Schuster is proud to announce a new Halo novel from John Shirley, releasing on November 4, 2014!

Witness an untold chapter in Halo lore as John Shirley’s Halo: Broken Circle takes us to the dawn of the Covenant and the fateful first bargain between the Prophets and the Elites. Broken Circle will explore an Elite splinter group rebelling against the Covenant in its earliest days, a brave Prophet caught in the machinations of the new Covenant leadership, and the root of the betrayal that would ultimately shatter the Covenant during events seen in the blockbuster Xbox game Halo 2.

HFFL: Okay, now I really like this idea. I LOVE to know more about Halo lore. Early Covie history is one such era that I am excited to read about. I totally dig the ship designs on the cover. It’s a good mix of current Covie ships. (Though they do look a little phallic in design, LOL)

Now that you know about the book, will you get it? Are you into Halo lore, like me?

You know what to do, reply below!

  1. I will definitely be getting this when it hits shelves. I am a real lover of the lore of Halo. I regularly re-read the novels and Halo Encyclopaedia, as well as replaying the campaigns.

  2. A new Halo book? Awesome. Really like the lore of the Halo universe and it would be interesting to learn more about the war between the Elites and the Prophets and how the Covenant came to be.

  3. I am really excited about this. I love the extended lore and fiction, and collecting the books is my main hobby with Halo memorabilia. I have recently bought the limited editions of both the Art of Building Worlds, and the Art of Halo4, with the signed art prints. They are so awesome.

I have just finished reading the whole Forerunner trilogy by Greg Bear, and I have to say, I think they are the best Halo novels out there. The science fiction and imagination in them is brilliant, and the answers given to many of the first questions posed in Combat Evolved is thrilling to discover.

In regards to this book, I do think it will be great to learn more about the history of the Elites and their relationship with the Prophets. Do you think this is perhaps again foreshadowing some of the events of Halo 5 as we will learn more about the Elites and their home world Sanghelios?

    • Hi Adam. Yes indeed, I believe this novel will foreshadow events in the future. I have a suspicion that part of the story may be told from the viewpoint of the Arbiter. This similar to how he voiced over the Halo Master Chief collection trailer. Since it’s releasing this year, I do not think it will give us much about the lead up to Halo 5 Guardians. Though, we may get a taste.

  4. I suspect any information related to Halo 5 will purely be historical – I think that from your analysis you put out of the first concept art looking like its Sanghelios, I just think that for us fans of the extended universe it will give us a nice prelude to visiting there in the game. Or perhaps would that ruin the surprise?

I actually think I would like to see Sanghelios fresh in the game without learning about it prior.

    What do you think?

    • I do kind of what Sanghelios to be fresh when I first play Halo 5 Guardians. However, 343 will release some info and you just know someone is going to leak something. As a Halo Blog for fans, it’s my duty to report that news. So I know I’ll be a little spoiled on the information. Still, I am confident that I will enjoy the story.
